No offence but some of you lot on here need to live in the real world

Give Sven a chance for god sake. I dont think he has done that bad in a VERY VERY short space of time.

28 games left and you have the only manager to have done a double in 3 european conunties.

Stringers twitter: The Andy King @kingy_10 injury was a hamstring strain. The severity of which is unclear as yet. I'll try and find out for 'The Forum' on Mon

So he's out for the Forest game???

Easy to point the finger in the wake of an unexpected defeat but this was a stinker Sven! It seems like we don't travel well in a westerly direction! I've also just seen the highlights on the League Show to confirm this thought! Can't moan too much at Howard for his penalty miss though as it was well saved by the so-far-this-season hapless David James but a rushed throw from his opposite number Weale gifted Bristol the points, despite the goal's good execution.

This appears to be our achilees heal this season to date, our struggling to beat any of the teams below us this season. That fortuitous win against Preston apart last month, there was that disastrous opening day defeat at Palace, that horrific drubbing at bottom of the table (at the time) Portsmouth, the blankety blank at home to M'Boro', the home draws v Pearson's Hull and Sheffield United - and then it all culminating in today's defeat to another team below us!! Maybe we're in our rightful position in the league but with the players we have we should be at least in the top 10!

With the chances we have wasted with our frontline and lack of clinicalness in other areas i'd say we are in our rightful position and that is what Sven now needs to work on next.... He's got the defence covered albeit the back 4 is nearly all loanees (slight concern) the midfield needs strengthening a touch and then the frontline which is one of the major strengthening areas Sven is obviously looking at

Fryatt is uninterested

Howard works hard but isn't clinical enough

Waghorn works hard but once again not clinical enough

Vassell slowly working his way to fitness but he isn't our saviour

Gallagher ummm what is he?? striker? midfielder?? either way no saviour either

So that leaves us VERY short in options and i'm sure Sven is on the case

Hey, I'm with you Gunnell, I'm very happy to have Sven at the helm. You don't have to convince me marra

Thanks a lot for the 3 points today fellas.

I'd like to say I enjoyed that game, but I didn't.

Well worked move for our first goal, second goal was bizarre.

I take no delight in watching Weale on his arse trying to keep it out. He was a liked player here, never got to see much of him being the stand-in keeper but always a decent shot stopper. Distribution was always dodgy but I am not sure he is too much to blame for the goal, more the bloke who wasn't watching when he should have been.

We've had plenty of games where we've played well and come away with fk all, so I'll take playing awful and winning 2-0 every day of the week.

Onwards and upwards eh.

52% possession

6 shots on target to 3

7 off target to 4

10 corners to 3

But all that counts is goals

Like to see the stats from the first half. It felt like we had about 80% possession. It was almost laughable and, at the time, the penalty miss didn't seem a big deal. Our back 4 hardly broke sweat in the first half and not much more in the second. Apparently Bristol didn't get a corner until the 52 minute. Similar performance last season at Trashton Gate but we got away with it that time.

Very, very frustrating (and bleeding cold).

Poor game. Two nil really flattered them. Just one of those things I guess.

Really impressed with the atmosphere in our end aside from the aforementioned EDL morons (thankfully there weren't many of them). Good day out all told, grounds like Ashton Gate are the reason I so desperately want anywhere but England to get the 2018 vote.

We didn't take our chances, they got lucky. It's as simple as that for me, but you can see the drastic improvement in the team. If we keep playing like that and add another striker capable of scoring goals then there really isn't alot to worry about.

Vassell is an absolute waste of space and as for Weale, i really hope Logan goes and Kirkland comes into the squad having Prem League experience. If only we had won we would be right in the mix of the playoffs.

Not sure how terrible marking is luck.

The marking was undoubtedly poor, but Bristol City barely had an attack all game and scored twice.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a Bristol fan who thought they deserved anything out of the game yesterday

No question, but bad marking and bad finishing I never put down to luck, if we had a player sent off that shouldn't have been or dissallowed goals that were genuine I believe that could be put down to bad luck.

I don't really see how you can give your view on this game, If you didn't actually go.

Mates have said BBC said we were dominant, Sky said Bristol were, BBC RL said blah blah.

The thing is simple. We need another striker, we've been saying this all season. Waghorn looks to be a waste of money, Fryatt's not being played/and is not performing. Steve Howard is playing great. It's seems the only people in the team Sven is sure on is, Howard, Abe, King and the back four.

We clearly are not clinical. We need a goalscorer. Bothroyd, Iwelumo, Becchio, Mackie, Chopra. These are all examples of the type of striker we need. I'm not sure if Miller would be the answer. I'd rather have Bednar.

All in all, It was a good day out, Fosse Boys were great today. Coach 4 was a good laugh.

:scarf:

i reckon he's pretty sure on wellens as well. We definately need a good goalscorer but you're not likely to get on on loan at the moment and you'd have to pay a ridiculously high price in january.

Might be worth having a look at some of the youngsters, schlupp and chamberlain in paticular appear to be getting a fair few, as a stop gap until jan where top needs to show he's serious about the promotion push this season.

Overall not the best of days.

Left Leicester at 11, 2-40 we were miles off course. Spent at least an hour tryna find the ground once in Bristol. Sat Nav decided to pack up so we had to go on instinct. Eventually found it and managed to get in the ground just after K/O. I've never been Bristol before, and i like old grounds where you can stand, but Ashton Gate was a right shithole and couldn't see much.

To the game - The penalty changed the game i thought, gave them a lift. We were unlucky i guess at times, although a well worked set piece made it 1-0 so can't complain about that too much. We had some half chances which I feel we could have done better with, particularly Waghorn when he blazed over. Weale's mistakes are becoming more common and hes had a mare for their 2nd. King's injury is a massive blow too, not read the thread about him yet so hopefully he'll be alright.

As for atmosphere, was ok in parts although i thought overall it was slightly dissapointing. Oh and to the Fosse Boys, how cringey was that lad at the front of you lot singing loadsa crap songs, including EDL at one point!

There chant about Asia is abit out of order but not alot you can do to those twats.

Had to walk with the Bristol crowd afterwards, Nicky Maynard drove out in his R8, me and my mates ambushed him telling him to sign for Leicester, he laughed. Good banter.

Had no clue how to get back Leicester, luckily took a wrong turn, went round a roundabout twice, and spotted a guy with a Leicester scarf in the back. Followed him praying he was heading for The Midlands, followed him for ages, and then luckily caught up with Fox Travel so all worked out okay. What a day.

Don't be facetious. It's evident to anyone who has watched the team over the last 3 seasons that Sousa's reign has left indelible marks, be it mentally or physically on certain players. These do not get ironed out overnight because we are not robots. Or would you rather we go back to pointless pitter patter passing and horrendous defensive organisation.

yeah, but really it shouldn't, any poorly performing player who uses the 10 game reign of a manager as an excuse can't be much of a pro sportsman. and as poor as the results were, we actually did play some good footy and put in some good performances under sousa - the only real difference is the defence and fitness. and i guess, by the end of his reign, confidence.

now, i'm not for a minute saying that i would prefer to still have sousa, i rate sven and think we'll come good, but equally using sousa as an excuse for not being able to score is very wrong.

besides, i think the defeat at cardiff probably had a bigger psychological impact on the squad, and was probably fundamental in sousa's downfall.

Bloody football, spend most of the day trolling back and forth to Bristol and we bloody lose 2-0.

To be serious, I suggested in my posts last week, that the performance against Derby was not all that great, it was a great result true, but only a late penalty gave it any semblance of real credibility.

Today, first half, we were just as good as we were against Derby, perhaps not quite as our passing lacked a bit of precision and neither Gallagher or Vassell played far enough forward, but we were the away side and the differences were really pretty small. Last week we missed a hatful of chances but King managed to score from open play, this week we missed a hatful of chances, King got brought down in the box but Howard missed a penalty.

That was it, the only difference that mattered, Howard should have scored, we would have been ahead at half time and despite the occasional second half wobble we would have won the game.

Instead we came out for the second half looking less than convincing, sure we were still bossing the game but we looked even less likely to score than before the break. We really were making poor decisions, shooting when we should be passing, passing when we should be shooting, what efforts we did have rarely troubled James. The Bristol goal, when it game, was heavily against the run of play but to anyone who has watched us regularly, had an air of inevitability about it.

Svens response was to bring on Dyer for Vassell, not really effective as Dyer took an age to get into the game and even then produced nothing of note. Shortly after Waghorn replaced King, we went 4-4-2 but that made no real difference as out shape and general play had been fine, our finishing in and around the box was the problem and the changes did nothing to improve that. Waghorn trying to pass when he should have been shooting, Gallagher shooting when he should have been playing someone in and Howard flicking balls on and laying balls off to, well no-one really.

We lost because we could not score against a pretty poor Bristol side, simple as!

I agree completely with you as usual Dave....

It was clear to see right from the start of the season that we were not going to have the firepower to convert our chances. Big Steve's goalscoring record at the club is not sufficient for a striker. Matty is a good League One Striker, but thats his limit and Gally blows hot and cold. The one surprise for me has been Waghorn who, on current form, couldnt hit a barn door. He looks a shadow of the player he was when playing for Pearson. I think we have the makings of a very good side BUT, in the same way as Sheff Utd have done with Ched Evans, or Burnley with Iwelumo or Doncaster with Billy Sharpe, the priority must be to find a good striker or two to convert the chances we make. Simply, with an in-form goalscorer, we would be top six by now.

Without such a goalscorer, we will be having the same conversation come next April.... with any luck Miller will come in and do that job... I don't think from what I've seen so far that Vassell is gonna be the one...although, it could be that Vassell needs a player like Miller to play-off

Fingers crossed....
