Tilley Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Rational and well thought through. Howard is old, Waggy is like Hume but expensive, Fryatt had a lucky season in a shit league and has done nothing since and Gallagher has never produced. Need to ship the lot out.
kimmy619 Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Cunningham man of the match for me today. Vassel is a load of crap. Not only that, he is a lazy bastard. I didn't see him putting in much effort at all today. First half, we were all over them. We then missed the penalty and the team appeared to lose momentum again. They reallyneed to stop giving up at the first hurdle. To echo the comments of others, we need a goal scorer. We get the ball all that way but can't get it in the back of the net. And, for anyone else at the match today, does anyone wanna chip in and buy the Bristol CIty supporters a new drum?! What a joke
Edmund Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Please tell me you're joking Nope deadly serious. You only have to look at the goals in pre season and the Palace game to fathom that he'd be a 20+ goal scorer at this level.
Kitchandro Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Stringer repeatedly asked Sven whether he was concerned about our inability to take chances - good question for me as this is our problem and has been all season... rather than Sven pissing his pants and coming out with utter drivel (his answer was akin to that of a ten year old) I'd have loved him to have the bollox to agree with Stringer, to say that he was dissapointed in his strikers and give them all a much needed kick up the arse by saying he was interested in a number of options... THAT would have meant something and made me respect him - what he said could have been read off a cue-card - Sven's stock responses to questions, like that of a politician... Stringer asked him about the names mentioned and what he was going to do about the goalscoring issue. He aint gonna say 'I'm buying Ishmael Miller' is he? He'd have sounded a right twat
Tilley Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Steve Bruce and Ian Holloway must be laughing at the deals they got with us this summer.

Arse kicking should be left in the dressing room, Sven knows we need strikers hence why he is trying to sign one. He doesn't need to say anything on the radio it's obvious he isn't pleased with our strikers.
Joe. Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 We've got a goal scorer, just not one in very good form. That said, he'll never find form if he's not in the team.

What a joke I do worry about this, we went behind against Swansea too and didn't seem to show any fight or belief. We've got a goal scorer, just not one in very good form. stivesfox Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Was waiting for Old tart that phones in when we lose to say it was because Matty Fryatt wasnt playing, we arent a team without him! Maybe she burnt herself last time with her iron. Sell the lot nice idea, but there are positives to take with some of the players Davies, Naughton and Cunningham seem good lads Svens brought in. Again in defence of Chris Weale he must feel a lot of pressure going into games also with the expectation of an ex England keeper coming in and losing his place, to be fair to Weale he is not a bad goalie apart from his judgemental error at Derby last season he had a good season last year, this Season he lives with pressure of losing the jersey and the Paulo circus leaving him out for the useless Ikeme! Strikers for me are to blame Leeds away we won many chances should have killed them off, Barnsley many missed chances however got the points, Swansea they were punchless nothing doing and today well too many missed chances in games we should win. Some people critising the service well the service is being given to the players who are playing up front we simply just want to take that extra touch or make the extra pass, or lack judgement of when to shoot.
Finnegan Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Nope deadly serious. You only have to look at the goals in pre season and the Palace game to fathom that he'd be a 20+ goal scorer at this level. :fishing:
Mee Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 On the way back on the Coach. Didn't really seem up for it second half. Dominated the first half, Howard should of scored, but eh' that's football. Agree we need a goalscorer, was a massive Waghorn fan, but now he seems a bit of a waste.
colbo68 Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Arse kicking should be left in the dressing room, Sven knows we need strikers hence why he is trying to sign one. He doesn't need to say anything on the radio it's obvious he isn't pleased with our strikers. What Sven said..... essentially nothing other than nervous drivel... What Sven could have said... 'Yes I agree with you totally that a lack of goals is our biggest problem and I'm looking at making some signings to improve the team in this area and support our current forward line'.... Its not rocket science is it? An answer like that may have appeased irate fans, given the current strikers something to think about and let us know that he wants to sort this problem out fooks sake.... and..... whats wrong with a bit of metaphorical arse-kicking.... its not as though Sven's current approach is having the desired effect on the strikers is it?
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Our finishing has never been deadly, but todays, like it has been in other games this season, has been dreadful. The countless times we have good chances and either its a poor shot, or the decision taken has been poor (e.g. Waghorn not shooting and passing to Cunningham). Maybe playing Fryatt might be the thing, but we play a formation with just one striker down the middle, and we all know Fryatt cant play that role. The finishing has always cost us, I know people will say the penalty miss was the key, but we still had numerous chances to score and didnt take them. Bristol were always going to score, that always happens to us, we dominate and dont score. We're again nearer to the relegation zone to the playoffs but there is still a long way to go, and we will improve, it will be interesting to see what business gets done in the January transfer window. No doubt, we'll do well against Forest then people will be hyping us up again, only for Leicester to disappoint us like they always do.
Kitchandro Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Waghorn hasn't exactly started every game but he just not seem to be the same player. I think he feels the pressure this time, whereas last season he has nothing to lose. Still a good player but when we are desperate for a goalscorer he's not going to stand out for his positives because he's not scoring
kimmy619 Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Waghorn and fryatt did nothing today. Howard played well first half. Wellens is hit and miss. I wish that we were consistent.
Guest DavidJCW Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Away loss again... nothing new... on to the next game and hopefully a win!
Karljohn Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 All this talk about strikers when we've leaked two piss poor goals again today. Too much inconsistency all over the park, reflective in our results. Sven and Faz must have one helluva headache tonight.
Kitchandro Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 A win next week and we'll all feel a lot better They just beat Cardiff though
Thracian Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Don't be facetious. It's evident to anyone who has watched the team over the last 3 seasons that Sousa's reign has left indelible marks, be it mentally or physically on certain players. These do not get ironed out overnight because we are not robots. Or would you rather we go back to pointless pitter patter passing and horrendous defensive organisation. You and I will doubtless disagree about Sousa's tenure but I don't see that matters seeing as he's long gone. As it happens Sven tries to play more in the manner of Sousa than Pearson or any of their other managerial predecessors so in what way was today's defeat a legacy of Sousa? Howard missed the penalty at a time when his confidence was surely boosted by a new contract and goals from previous penalties. Weale should have been replaced weeks ago. He's not seemed with it this season and three times in the last few games he has seriously mishit clearances so Sven has had ample time to deal with the problem, though news of his targetting a goalkeeper could hardly be considered the ideal "pick-me-up for Weale. Or have I missed something that is actually Sousa's fault?. As for our other forwards I don't see the Sousa factor as being in any way relevent. Gallagher is ousing confidence having been fully involved under Sven. Kingy sounded a threat throughout until his injury - and he won the penalty. Waghorn has always been eratic and Howard has always been wasteful and a bit slow to get into the box. Fryatt might have a Sven complex and Dyer must be disappointed to be left out in favour of the largely disappointing Vassell but those things have got nothing to do with Sousa either. But it's obvious from what you say that I've missed something,... so, fire away by all means.
Chairman of the Bored Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Had this down as 1-0 to Brizzle with Chicken scoring. Sod's law (ex-Bournemouth hero last year and all that....). Even had money on it, so was gutted when Clarkson popped in number two. Bloody frustrating though. How can we be so good against the Sheep Shaggers and so poor today? Consistency needed. I've almost given up on the PO's now so anything else will be a bonus. Off down the pub....
Kitchandro Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 Sousa sapped the confidence from the team and I don't think all of them have regained it. Waghorn,Weale, Hobbs and Fryatt haven't been the same players. Of course it's not all down to Sousa but these were all key players last season, I don't think they would be playing as they are if a certain manager hadn't left and another certain manager hadn't replaced him
smudger63 Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 People keep going on about Ishmael Miller but I'm not sure he's proved that he's a prolific goalscorer at all Agree with this. While he has plenty of pace, i don`t remember him being a prolific scorer. Also, he has spent alot of time injured, and only wants to go out on loan to get match fit. Well i for one, wants anybody that comes to my club, to already be match sharp and raring to go! If i was going for a striker from west brom, as a caller on radio leicester said earlier, i`d look no further than simon cox, whether we would get him though, is highly doubtfull. I`ve a feeling sven has already made his mind up, that it`s miller he wants though, so i suppose it`s a case of, in sven we trust!
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 We seem to have a real problem with our strikers. We play a formation which is in my opinion, is the way forward as 4-4-2 isnt as common any more, especially not at the top level. But we cant score despite making numerous chances. So anyway, we obviously have to play one out of our three main strikers in that position. Fryatt who does miss chances but will also score a few, Waghorn cost 3 million, is stronger than Fryatt, works tirelessly but isnt a goal scorer the way Fryatt is, and Howard who is the biggest, best in the air, but slow and not a goal scorer. In the current formation, I just dont think any of them are ideal for the role. I think we really need to bring a new man in, who can play upfront alone on his own (providing we keep the formation the same), is a much better finisher than the three we have got and is quick and strong. I think we are that one player away from being a really good team. And it might be time to let Fryatt go, he isnt first choice, and that doesnt look like changing soon.
Babylon Posted 20 November 2010 Posted 20 November 2010 I know that all the 'keep the faith' brigade (eg. Babylon et al) will come out with another string of rubbish excuses...but this loss today is a VERY bad one against a poor Bristol City side. If Sven cannot find SOMEONE (? ) who is gonna put the fookin chances away we arent going anywhere. Sven will come out with his usual load of bollox (although does he actually SAY anything really?)but it is clear now and has been all season that our scouts have got to find us a good striker..... Quite simply if we would have taken our chances we would have won that match..end of... What the f*** are you talking about you complete moron. Since when have I been in the 'keep the faith' brigade. I know your in the 'talks a giant pile of shit' brigade, and this just about proves it.
