Yuki Abe cost less than 2 million

from that forum

Apparently the 'tradition' in Japanese football is for the player to pay the transfer fee via the wages he receives from his new club.

That could explain the nominal fee yet huge wages.

I've read that somewhere before too.

If we did pay the £2mil though it's looking like he could easily be worth that.

I don't wanna worry anyone, but..... Everton were very interested in him, and I believe they offered him/his club a deal in the same week we signed him. For whatever reason, I don't know why, but it wasn't suitable and we beat them to it so he is with us. I also know that they have had him watched at the walkers. Someone was there for the Derby match.

He is potentially gonna be massive for us, but there will be competition to hold onto him, especially if we aren't successful in promotion.

To think he's only played a handful of games as well, when he gets past the language barrier a bit more and truely settles in he's going to be insanely good for us.

Where've you got that from? And didn't he sign on the basis he'd be starting the majority of games?

Too many rumours and not enough facts.

I was thinking earlier that Abe's interpreter must literally be by his side 24/7. I mean just nipping to morrisons would be an effort for him? Must be really tough. He won't go anywhere anytime soon, he's trying to settle in Leicester never mind move elsewhere. No biggie

Not belittling the fact it likely has been difficult, but that's a bit excessive. It's surprisingly easy to bond with people despite a language barrier and supermarkets / shops are definitely basically the same in every language. :P

I mean I assume you've been abroad and gotten some basics without a tour guide? lol

What a stupid comment, I speak and read no Japanese but have on several occasions spent weekends in Tokyo and Nagoya on my own, I didn't sit alone in my hotel room, I walked around the cities, I visited shops, went to castles and a temple (bit of a struggle that one as it was on a local branch line from Yokohama, main train lines have English character signs, branch lines don't) and generally got oon with stuff. All Japanese learn written english at school but not so many learn to speak english.

Under 2 mill for Abe seems like a good deal.one thing that makes me chuckle is the way on this forum people slate a player after a couple of games.Abe was getting loads of stinkers, right from the start from many on here, they must feel a little foolish now!

By the way ive just cancelled my holiday to Thailand as i cannot afford a translator to come out with me,and wont be able to cope!

It's highly doubtful abe's interpreter is with him 24/7 but going on holiday and livng somewhere are a different situation entirely, you can't just muddle through living somewhere learning the most basic stuff like you can on holiday, and i'll bet what they get taught is different to actually holding proper conversation, cause if it's anything like how languages are taught here it will be pretty fooking useless.

Anybody with any sense would have done their research on Yuki before judging him after 2 weeks in a Leicester shirt. The japanese love him because he has a good character, and he's a class player on top of that. You can tell he's starting to enjoy playing for us now, don't think that was really the case when he first arrived.

We've got an absalute bargain if we've got him for 2 million quid.
