Jimmy Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 My link Mansfield Town locked out of ground by landlordFORMER Stags owner Keith Haslam has today kicked Mansfield Town out of their Field Mill ground by changing the locks and terminating the lease. Bailiffs acting for Mr Haslam's business said this morning that the lease had been terminated over a rent dispute with new club owner John Radford. The statement also said there were concerns over the progress of talks between Mr Haslam's company Stags Limited, which owns the stadium itself, and Mr Radford, who bought the club in September, over the latter buying the ground. The statement said: "Burlington Enforcement, acting on behalf of Stags Limited, have today changed the locks and terminated the club's lease of the stadium. "Stags Limited are extremely disappointed that it has been necessary to take this step. Stags Limited will remain willing to engage in a constructive dialogue with the club regarding the future of the stadium." Mansfield Town chief executive Steve Barker said the club were talking to lawyers and would be issuing a statement later.
Wycombe Fox Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 I blame FIFA. This. As soon as Russia win the bid, Field Mill gets closed. It has to be connected. Was Field Mill going to be a host stadium?
Fosse Boy Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 Sad. That Haslam's been giving 'em shit for years hasn't he? Didn't he try and sell to that nutter who wanted to rename them Harchester United? Stuff like this is happening regularly in our game and yet all people care about is a couple of weeks in 8 years time.
jonthefox Posted 4 December 2010 Posted 4 December 2010 Burlington enforcement ? Jesus, they sound a friendly bunch.
Fox92 Posted 7 December 2010 Posted 7 December 2010 Worksop have been locked out of the ground in the town for 2 or 3 years now. Its quite sad. But Worksop have drew Mansfield in one of the cup competitions and it has to be played at Ilkeston because Mansfield have been locked out now. Disgrace.
Guest Bilo Posted 7 December 2010 Posted 7 December 2010 Ilkeston, Notts County or Alfreton look likely to be their next move. Absolute joke what's happened to them. What happens if they make a return to the Football League with no ground?
Webbo Posted 7 December 2010 Posted 7 December 2010 Reading this thread you'd think it wasn't Mansfield's fault that they haven't paid their rent.
Finnegan Posted 10 December 2010 Posted 10 December 2010 Reading this thread you'd think it wasn't Mansfield's fault that they haven't paid their rent. I love how much of a Tory you are.
Finnegan Posted 10 December 2010 Posted 10 December 2010 No, realist = thinking it. Tory = feeling the need to point it out.
Zingari Posted 10 December 2010 Posted 10 December 2010 notwithstanding this particular discussion , why are realists expected merely to think realistic logic and not point it out to those that seem to have an inability to grasp it , ,regardless of whether it is tory thinking or not ?
Finnegan Posted 10 December 2010 Posted 10 December 2010 I think youre over-reaching here. It was just a joke.
Zingari Posted 10 December 2010 Posted 10 December 2010 I think youre over-reaching here. It was just a joke. well don't give up the day job , it was a crap one ( leave the crap jokes to me please ) unless of course it means something in welsh that just doesn't translate , in which case , carry on finners
Edmund Posted 10 December 2010 Posted 10 December 2010 Would this of happened in Germany? I don't know if it's been mentioned before, but I think our F.A should look to Germany and model ourselves on how they run the game.

I appreciate a bit of banter thrown the way of a few Germo-philes on the forum and that's all good and funny and that. But I don't necessarily think we should be as dismissive of the comparison as a lot of people on this forum actually are.
Edmund Posted 10 December 2010 Posted 10 December 2010 I'm not quite sure what you're on about? All I'm suggesting is that we should look to Germany as a model of how football should be run in this country. I can assure you if Mansfield were in Germany this would've never happened.

Ah, my apologies. That's tone and the internet then - I thought you were being ironic to take a pot shot at Fosse Boy, Floating Fox, et all. I do agree with you, then, if you're being sincere.

To be fair, with the restructuring around the 3.bundesliga there's some financial issues going down in lower-league German football too, with the teams that have been kept down into the new restructured Regional-liga, so its not all roses. Although admittedly, they'd not be being kicked out of their own grounds, only in financial troubles.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 14 December 2010 Posted 14 December 2010 To be fair, with the restructuring around the 3.bundesliga there's some financial issues going down in lower-league German football too, with the teams that have been kept down into the new restructured Regional-liga, so its not all roses. Although admittedly, they'd not be being kicked out of their own grounds, only in financial troubles. So who would pay their rent if they were in Germany? Or would the bloke who owns the stadium just have to whistle for it? I don't really know anything about this but it seems to me that a football club should face all the responsibilities faced by any other business, which sadly means that if they can't find a way to be independently economically viable and meet their oblgations with regard to paying their creditors they should fold. So are you saying that in Germany that wouldn't be the case? Or just that the regulations related to the running of football clubs wouldn't allow them to get themselves into such a mess financially?
act smiley Posted 15 December 2010 Posted 15 December 2010 I was (rather drunkenly) just covering the fact that there's a bunch of financial issues in lower-league German football, then mentioning its not really to do with evictions specifically.
