The Joke that is Blackburn Rovers

Good grief!

What on earth are the new owners up to there?

They sack one of the only men in British football who knows how to keep a mediocre team in the Premier League, then get conned into replacing him with a nobody with a big mouth and ideas above his station.

Now they are chucking money after the sideshow that will be Ronaldinho.

It's like putting the WI in charge of Prince William's stag do?!

Going dowwwwwwwwwwwn.

Ronaldinho - is that very different from us trying to sign Beckham?

I'm sure the owners of both clubs will have very similar justifications.

There is a bit of difference... Beckham widely regarded as the epitome of the professional footballer, dedicated, a role model and a player who has shown in the last 2 years that he can join on loan in Jan and be effective, and a 3 month loan.

Ronaldinho a fat waster who never delivered on his potential due to issues with the management of every club he played at. And I believe they are talking about a perm deal?

But the justification will be the same, predominantly a commercial decision not a football one.

Ok that was perhaps a little harsh / completely wrong. How about failed to match the heights he reached at Barcelona since he left? And has been very dissapointing in italy.

My point about his influence is the same though, he is not generally regarded as a role model.

They also said they want to re-sign Damien Duff...probably the first he has heard about it is watching it on SSN. Going about it all the wrong way IMO.

I agree about the Beckham / Ronaldinho attempted signings both being blatant publicity stunts for both owners to gain kudos in the right circles back in their own countries.

However Beckham is a pro and would have respected the words of Sven.

Ronaldinho is a cheeky sod who would take one look at that kean bod in charge at Blackburn and piss his pants until the summer.

Imagine Ronny sitting in Milan now.... HMMMMMMM Rio .... Beaches... Half Naked women... warm weather.... or Blackburn... Hmmmm :crylaugh:

It could be a refreshing new approach! Name everyone you want to sign in the press and then approach players. Only... is this not called tapping up? Hmmm. It is ok though, their chief Lady has been watching games on the telly.

This did make me laugh quite a lot especially given Big Sam's assertation that he could win the league/ be really successful if he'd superstars and then they try and sign one after sacking him. lol

I'm surprised by the actual substance to the ambition being shown by the owners.

When I heard that they wanted a top 5 finish on minimal spending with a rookie manager, it seemed completely preposterous.

Signing Ronaldinho would give them a small chance of making that happen. And I must clarify here that I mean VERY small.

As recently as 12 months ago, Ronaldinho was showing flashes of brilliance for Milan and even starting to once again run important matches for them.

With a new Brazil manager and a new start perhaps Ronnie will see this as a way back for one last hurrah in 2014? It could possibly provide the motivation he needs to get fit and perform.

A half-fit, moaning, selfish Ronaldinho would still be twice the player of anything Rovers fans have seen recently. I'd wager there's just as good a chance that he would significantly improve the team as weaken it.

Ha ha, on SSN it is now saying they want both beckham and ronaldonho. Can see it all ending in tears up there

Why the big fuss about them firing alledyce? Awful manager suited to the lower leagues of English football, likewise the Newcastle manager. Both teams doing great tonight, which would never have happened under the previous manager.

Big Sam seems to be very popular within the game, for some reason.

you having a laugh? Big Sam isn't glamorous but what he did at Bolton was brilliant, how you can call him awful is beyond me.

Sam Allardyce is a top manager. Not everyone can play like Arsenal, nice to have a bit of variety, and he knows how to get results out of average squads.
