sdb Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Surprised at the reaction. He hardly gives his all for Everton in the Prem on 55k a week. Not sure he'd possess any more drive and determination here. Obviously he has the ability to do amazing things in the Championship, but i'm not sure he would. Can't see him coming either way.
howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Call me old fashioned but WTF does hench mean?
Babylon Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 All Everton forums saying he has been sold for £7.5m, but they don't know who to.
MikeyT Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 All Everton forums saying he has been sold for £7.5m, but they don't know who to. That leaves us with £4.5m to play with. Parker and Naughton the other 2 signings.
davieG Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 That leaves us with £4.5m to play with. Parker and Naughton the other 2 signings. Always assuming they'll sign for a week wage of £0s
MikeyT Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Always assuming they'll sign for a week wage of £0s Here's hoping. Maybe they are of the same minds as Summerbee and Mckinlay.

I think people are getting carried away here. He's done naff all in the Premiership for about 2 years, whether that be through injury or otherwise. It looks like his legs have gone and his finishing ability has disappeared (didn't anyone see his miss at the World Cup?). I think he could be another Bednar i.e. big name, high expectations but ultimately fail. Sorry to put a downer on this but I don't think he'd tear up this league any more, he's not mobile enough for that.
Adster Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Agreed. I think he could be another Bednar i.e. big name, high expectations but ultimately fail. Bednar was a big name?

The thought of the Yak being here is great, but he's never going to be amazing again. Let's face it, it was back when Henry was still in the Prem that Yak was at his best. Top 2 scorers in the PL over a 3 year period or something were Henry and then Yakubu. But he hasn't done much since has he.... The thing is, I have no idea who I would rather see up front. We're stuck in no mans land at the moment. Don't want a bunch of has been's but dont want to be spending millions on champ/lower league players. So we end up gambling on foreigners again.... Parker, Bamba et al.

His legs have gone? Why do people keep using that phrase about players? He's 28 for ****s sake, so he's in his prime. His goal record is fooking superb at the highest level so god knows how you can say he wouldnt do well in the championship. We are all entitled to our opinion on here but what you've said really is only suitable for the Monday night phone in. Bednar was a big name? Pure low expectations
MikeyT Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Some clever dick has changed his Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakubu_Aiyegbeni
Jon the Hat Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 All Everton forums saying he has been sold for £7.5m, but they don't know who to. Fat past it striker? Exorbitant transfer Fee? Got to be West Ham surely. Not us anyway, not in a million years.

Pure low expectations When was the last time Yakubu did anything of note, anywhere?! He can't even get into the Everton team and they're struggling for goals. They'd rather play Tim Cahill as a lone striker instead of Yakubu, that says it all. His best days are long gone, face facts. He might be in his prime age-wise but he's had major injuries and since he's come back he has lost his pace and finishing ability. He's not the same player that he was 3 or 4 years ago. Look at his statistics for crying out loud - last season, 25 league appearances and 5 goals. This season 12 league appearances and 1 goal. Whatever, you can all get carried away in dream land if you want. Yakubu will not be our saviour, mark my words.
Callabinho Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 if we're planning on putting together a hench team then elekobi is a must. Elekobi and Bikey

Elekobi and Bikey Samba. Central defensive partnership of Samba and Bamba.
Callabinho Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Call me old fashioned but WTF does hench mean? Arnold mate.
MikeyT Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 I really am wondering who people expect we are likely to get. We aren't going to sign Messi, Ronaldo or Tevez. If we signed Yakubu and that's a big if, if he stays injury free i dare say he could tear this league apart.
Callabinho Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Come on, Are we seriously sat here saying Yakubu would not necessarily be a good signing? STFU people! who do we expect Romelu Lukaku to sign? The Yak at this level would be lethal! He'd rip the league to pieces easy!
Jimmy2Drags Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Don't really follow Everton much but hasn't he been crocked for yonks? Been injured for ages & looks a bit overweight....I'd rather have Charlie Austin
Bettsj2 Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Been injured for ages & looks a bit overweight....I'd rather have Charlie Austin Never played above League 1. Sometimes I couldnt role my eyes far enough into the back of my head.
Stevosevic Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 I can't think of a better striker playing in the Championship..
Roy Cropper Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Been injured for ages & looks a bit overweight....I'd rather have Charlie Austin Then you, my friend, are a bellend.
Jimmy2Drags Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Then you, my friend, are a bellend. I like you...you're funny! I have no doubt that he'd kill this league if fit, but he's not been fit (or playing) for a long time.
