Finnegan Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 I don't see how it's a gamble. He is a known quantity. He would do a job here. But at this stage in his career, with his record over the last two years, seven million would be a rip-off for any club.
superfox1980 Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Looks like there might be some truth to the story........ http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/sport/Leicester-City-line-swoop-Everton-striker-Yakubu/article-3069785-detail/article.html?
Guest Bilo Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 I don't see how it's a gamble. He is a known quantity. He would do a job here. But at this stage in his career, with his record over the last two years, seven million would be a rip-off for any club. I can't imagine even Everton believe they'll get £7m for him so that's not my concern. His wages are however. Last thing we want is an injury prone player on a lengthy contract with astronomical wages.
STUHILL Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 The fact is that you get nowhere by playing safe. Sometimes if you want to step up then you have to take a 'gamble' or pay over the odds for someone. Yeah it might not come off but if you dont try, you just sign players like Fryatt who with all the goodwill in the world, will never be a striker that will fire you into the Premiership. If we want to make the change from normal Championship team to mid table Premiership team, this is the sort of deal we have to get involved in. Otherwise we'll just be like every other team from 1st to 15th in the Division of which there isnt much to choose. If the price is right too, I don't even see this as that much of a risk either. Having a striker in the team that we all know, if fit and confident, could still be one of the top strikers in the Premiership. The Yak is back!!!
Stevosevic Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 F**k the wages, that's not for us to worry about, leave that for the owners. Once we get to the premiership Sven will be signing lots of high earners anyway.
STUHILL Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Looks like there might be some truth to the story........ http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/sport/Leicester-City-line-swoop-Everton-striker-Yakubu/article-3069785-detail/article.html? Seems 4million is a more realistic value and worth a risk at that price. Loan until the end of season with a permanent in the Summer agreed if he performs well, would be the dream deal!!
Babylon Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Looks like there might be some truth to the story........ http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/sport/Leicester-City-line-swoop-Everton-striker-Yakubu/article-3069785-detail/article.html? Anyone know where these Moyes comments come from? Would like to see the full thing rather than a Merc snippet.
STUHILL Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 IanStringerBBC #lcfc updates on Morrison, Yakubu + Naughton in our Sport bulletin at 5.30pm on 104.9fm, BBC Radio Leicester. You'll hear from Faz on all 3

You'll hear from Faz on all 3 When he does that it's usually nothing exciting just the usual... "working hard, trying to make it happen" etc etc.
Finnegan Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Meaning he'll read a few posts from FT and pass it off as informative journalism.
STUHILL Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Agreed but does say you will hear from Faz on all 3. Whether that means he will reveal anything more than we already know is another thing
Guest BlueBrett Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 If the price is right too, I don't even see this as that much of a risk either. Having a striker in the team that we all know, if fit and confident, could still be one of the top strikers in the Premiership. The Yak is back!!! Bit of a stretch maybe. He could perhaps get into the top 25 if he hit peak form. Still I'd expect him to score plenty at this level and he would certainly offer us something very different to our current striking options. Good enough to feature regularly for most bottom half prem teams.
Jackirius Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Anyway of listening to the sport bulletin on tinternet?
cc_star Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Anyway of listening to the sport bulletin on tinternet? the Listen Live link should work here http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/leicester/hi/tv_and_radio/
Jackirius Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 the Listen Live link should work here http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/leicester/hi/tv_and_radio/ I used to try listening to that and it just came up with me being outside of the streaming area. But it seems to be working at the minute. Thanks
cc_star Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 I used to try listening to that and it just came up with me being outside of the streaming area. But it seems to be working at the minute. Thanks It doesn't work on matchday's as the BBC doesn't have internet broadcast rights, but should work at all other times
cc_star Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Well, Faz provided no new info - said if Yakubu was willing to play in the Championship he'd have thought we'd be one of the clubs he would consider. If there is a deal to be had, he doesn't think it will be a quick one
somebum Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Yakubu is the most lazy, useless waste of space I have seen
Babylon Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Yakubu is the most lazy, useless waste of space I have seen You forgot the bit about him averaging 1 in 3 in the premier.
Adster Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Yakubu is the most lazy, useless waste of space I have seen You're the most lazy, useless waste of space i have seen.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Yakubu is the most lazy, useless waste of space I have seen Gallagher would take some beating for that I think. Yakubu would be quality at this level, anyone who thinks he wouldnt really is just stupid. He has just been hampered by injuries, at his bets he would be unplayable in the league.
Leicester_Mad Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Probably because of the goals he scored last season; and he only cost 2 mill (so far). Do people not remember Yakubu when he was at Portsmouth in this division? Tore it apart and has only improved etc. since then. No chance Waghorn will get up to the level Yakubu is. 1 goal in 3 Prem games is quality and if you think we are going to sign someone with a better scoring record in the top division in this country whilst we are mid table in the championship you need to get your head sorted. £7mil is an inflated price but so was £2mil for Waggy and most players that move within England will be paid for with more money than they are worth. Its either that or pay for a foreigner no-body knows for half the price...either way Sven will get it wrong with the majority on here...
Callabinho Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Yakubu is the most lazy, useless waste of space I have seen Who knows where the net is....
cc_star Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Yakubu is the most lazy, useless waste of space I have seen Are you his agent?
