themotivator Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 U speak like this signing is going to happen, can't see it my self! sorry if you got that impression. i don't think it is likely. merely speculating.

Uncle Monty Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 The more I read the more I like the sound of this signing.
Jackirius Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Usually if it makes the main bbc sport site it has something behind it.
cc_star Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Usually if it makes the main bbc sport site it has something behind it. Correct, although the BBC article seems to be a reaction to Faz's non-committal interview
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Not saying that this will happen, but there is certainly enough in it to suggest a deal is being sought. Think Everton might perfer the loan move too, as the Yak can get some games and potentially show his worth to other suitors or come back to the Toffee's as an in form goal scorer - unless they need the cash to buy a striker of their own? I'd be suprised if anyone paid 7 to 8 million for him now - but then some clubs have money to waste!

cc_star Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 It seems the £7m comes from the the fact Everton turned down £6m in the summer from West Ham The current valuation is £4m+ as Everton want a new forward which got me thinking what's wrong with him? Also Jan signings usually cost more than summer signings because less people are available and desperation adds to the transfer fees & signing on fees. We may also need to pay more to entice people to drop down
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Good Player but im not sure if he is worth £4 mill plus????
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Good Player but im not sure if he is worth £4 mill plus???? Don't you mean: Good PLAYER but im NOT sure IF he is worth £4 MILL plus????
BaddaBaddadaBAMBA Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 The Yak will undoubtedly score goals at this leve, i'm not sure why everyone sees this deal so negatively, he's a proven premiership goal-scorer and did well for Portsmouth in the Championship a few years back, equalled one goal every 2 games. He's 28, a good age, strong, not sure about pace but seems beefy enough to knock defenders off the ball, i'd certainly be pleased if we got either the Yak or Carew, although the latter seems very unlikely.
Criggers Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Unless nobody else wants him, I can only see us getting him at the end of the window as maybe a loan with a view to permanent in the summer. I just cant see him wanting to drop down a level (and a probably wage cut too).

If we get Yukubu it will almost certainly be on a permanent deal, which would have a 'get out' clause if we don't get promoted this season. Everton need the money, we need a striker, Yukubu wants football, as long as he is only out of the Prem' for half a year. He is a quality player and I can't imagine that in those circumstances he wouldn't be up for it, 'cos he would need to impress other Prem' clubs if we did not get promotion, so that he could get a decent deal elsewhere if needed to. Everybody wins, and deals like that are the best deals. Bring him in now!!!
Babylon Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 "Despite newspaper reports David Moyes confirms he has received NO bids for striker Yakubu. #evertonFC" On twitter from Everton, wondered where the Merc got their quote from as i'd not seen it anywhere else. LIARS!
MC Prussian Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Imagine a forward force of (a fit) Yakubu, Heskey and Vassell. Well, one can still dream...

LIARS! Of course the Merc' could be lying, 'though I fail to comprehend exactly why! They would be more likely to lie with broad generalisations than about specific named players - and of course all premiership managers like the 'sweaty sock' called Moyes always tell the truth! We all know that don't we!
MC Prussian Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Who is the most menacing though... where is Blue Brett when you need him. Lucky bastard that I've seen this after I had lunch. Otherwise, my keyboard and computer screen would've looked a bit... messy.

LIARS! Just read this Slightly disappointed things haven't been sewn up before the transfer window opened (whether he was joining us or not) leaving just the paperwork to push through once the window opened, the same could be said of Naughton's deal of course who's position is far more unsettling to the team before a big game.
Steven Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Denying any bids on the Everton OS. Friday 7 January 2011, 13:21by Matthew Gamble @efc_mattgamble David Moyes has confirmed that Everton have not received any bids for Yakubu. The striker has been the subject of media speculation linking him with a move away from Goodison during the current transfer window. But Moyes confirmed during his Friday press conference that he had not received any bids for the Nigerian. Asked if the Club had received any bids, Moyes replied: "None." Yakubu has appeared 15 times for the Toffees this season, scoring the winning goal in the win over Stoke City in October.
STUHILL Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Denying any bids on the Everton OS. No bids doesn't mean no inquiries though. More than likely we have asked about his possible availability but no-more as yet
