Webbo Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 Sounds interesting if true, I can only assume an extension onto the stadium and a rather large one by the way you have used the word 'massive' in such context. Which would be a bit pointless... Shed any more light? My guess would be doing the necessary alterations so that we can hold concerts there.
Jackirius Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 The changes are massive, doesn't necessarily mean building, moving the kop would be a massive change? changing/simplifying the pricing structure would be a massive change to some people if affected, finally having a museum would be a big change. Yes but moving the Kop and changing the pricing structure wouldn't require a company. And he said as a whole so i am assuming a few of the aspects of the stadium will be changed. Anyway, I will look in anticipation to see what happens. And Webbo that's a good shout also.
Houdini Logic Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 Can we change the team that play there? Probably cheer up most people on here
lcfc81 Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 Not strictly the stadium, but i've always wondered why they don't chop the shrubs down and show the cascading waterfall thing that runs behind the stadium. A bit of open panning onto the canel would make the area look alot better and surely wouldn't cost too much.

(would be a nice fishing place)
wattolcfc Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 I know someone who has something to do with the whole thing and he said that we are extending the east stand backwards and also where the generators are across from the stadium there on about building a sports arena or something along those lines, its supposed to be a massive overhaul. Sounds great to me.
Haydos Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 All seems very <_< Wouldn't they want/have to go about purchasing the stadium first....?
wattolcfc Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 Haydos, not too sure about that but I was told at the weekend about a plan to extend the stadium up to aylestone road, now by that im assuming he didnt mean the stadium directly so maybe adding bits onto it for other reasons, which would only be speculation right now. Also the stadium is definitely going to be renamed the king power stadium as they are already making the new banners to go around it. As for this sports arena, i hear it will be used for ALL ball sports, so look into that what you will.
Wymsey Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 These rumours won't happen (if they do) until we're in the PL and established there. Doubt anything will happen now.

I would be more in favour of transforming it into a complex than expanding it (can't fill it already etc etc) as it would turn a great facility into an excellent one. I still think that the more important issue is getting bums on seats. On sunday we saw what a difference a packed stadium makes, whether this had an effect on performance we don't know but it was so much more enjoyable.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 I think it's fair to assume that all if not the vast majority of City fans are in agreement that the Kop should be where the Family Stand is, or the away fans moved to the side of SK1 (as it was at FS). But I also think it's fair to say there's absolutely sweet fa we can do about it Not necessarily true. We have new owners who seem genuinely keen to please so if we keep going on about something that we want and can present valid reasons for wanting it I see no reason why we wouldn't eventually get it. Especially if it would hardly even cost them any money. Obviously foxestalk wouldn't be the most effective place to base the campaign though as I doubt Mr. Top is a regular poster.

There would be a lot of mardy twats in the family stand that 'like it where they are' etc.
Kitchandro Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 What an embarrassment the 'King Power Stadium' would be. Why can't we have a proper stadium name?
wattolcfc Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 What an embarrassment the 'King Power Stadium' would be. Why can't we have a proper stadium name? As much as I am for Proper Stadium Names, If changing the name of our stadium means that we have money to spend on players and invest in expansion and other things, then so be it, i doubt many would rather have no money but a decent stadium name if im honest...
Guest BlueBrett Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 What an embarrassment the 'King Power Stadium' would be. Why can't we have a proper stadium name? Why do stadia even need names? People will start selling naming rights to the bloody pitch itself next. The Mercedes Centre Circle and the Clarins Penalty Spot are just around the corner mark my words

The Mercedes Centre Circle and the Clarins Penalty Spot are just around the corner mark my words If this was to be, they can't advertise actually on the pitch/ goal nets/ corner flags. The Laws state all adverts must be 1m from the playing area/ goal nets... Smart arse me
lcfc"weasel" Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 What an embarrassment the 'King Power Stadium' would be. Why can't we have a proper stadium name? Most call it Filbert Way anyway so as the poster above me says it free's up other cash then so be it.

I don't see why we can't have both. I don't see why the Thais can't just respect the club and let the fans pick a permanent stadium name like Filbert Way or Freemans Wharf. They can have King Power written all over the stadium if they like, they're on the shirt already, they can use the club to promote themselves in every other way, but I will feel the club has less dignity with the stadium being named after them. At least Walkers is a local company. I don't want to hear Gary or Jeff referring to it as the King Power Stadium or even worse the KP Stadium. I would find it embarrassing and the most important thing is to have pride in my club.
The Padster Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 What an embarrassment the 'King Power Stadium' would be. Why can't we have a proper stadium name? To be fair, out of all the names of sponsored stadiums, King Power Stadium is not at all bad. If nothing else it stops people calling it a "crisp bowl" and what silly nickname can you get from "king" & "power" ? Not to great a deal of 'em I believe.
Kitchandro Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 Most call it Filbert Way anyway so as the poster above me says it free's up other cash then so be it. Nobody i know calls it that. Nobody on TV calls it that. Very few people on here call it that.
lcfc"weasel" Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 Nobody i know calls it that. Nobody on TV calls it that. Very few people on here call it that. People on TV have to call it by it's official name i'd think so they hardly have a choice. I rarely see people call it Walkers Stadium anymore.

If nothing else it stops people calling it a "crisp bowl" and what silly nickname can you get from "king" & "power" ? Not to great a deal of 'em I believe. It just sounds so corporate. I want the name to be synonymous with Leicester, not our owners. In 25 years it will called something else as well. Then it will become a joke. And that could be a really embarrassing company. It should have a permanent name.
demon_dog Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 Can never see the Kop and Family stand changing places. Can never see the away fans being re located. That clears that up. Now.............. I can understand there being changes at the stadium. If...................... we manage to be fortunate enough to get a place in the Premier league this season, then I can fully understand the stadium being extended. The other question is of course is who owns the training ground? If not the current owners as part of the deal, then it makes sense that the club extends as suggested. This would allow the players to train in the morning and then allow public access in the afternoon. Whatever happens, I believe that it's all dependant on us acheiving P.L. status. Personally if all I have seen and heard is true, then we have good solid owners who care about the club and fans. Up the City. P.S. The Stadium should be called 4 King Power.
wattolcfc Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 Correct about the away fans being relocated and moving the Kop... not going to happen. I did an online petition a few years back, got a lot of signatures and was invited to the Walkers before the first game of the season against Blackpool (the year we were relegated) and Peter Jones explained all the reasons why it could not happen, so lets just put that one to bed for the final time please
