Kitchandro Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 your ground needs better foundations in my opinion.... when we played u and did THE poznan.... the whole stand was shaking!!!! Yeh I've noticed that too. A bit scary tbh
Stevosevic Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 your ground needs better foundations in my opinion.... when we played u and did THE poznan.... the whole stand was shaking!!!! I get worried about that too. After every goal i stop myself jumping up and down because it worries me feeling the stadium shaking.
Haydos Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 your ground needs better foundations in my opinion.... when we played u and did THE poznan.... the whole stand was shaking!!!! Who's not called it THE poznan? And is it that much of a bigger deal? I'm sure someone on here said it was designed to do that, like a lot of big new structures it has some give in it
skyblueinpeace Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 i feel sorry for season ticket holders on the back row hahaha

Unit Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 i feel sorry for season ticket holders on the back row hahaha I'm one of them, and it's fooking terrifying. The worst in the past couple of years was when steve howard bagged one in the last minute or so against Leeds in league 1, it fooking swayed! I'm used to it shaking a little bit but that was just scary! I heard that it was 'meant' to be built like that but it really doesn't feel right, it's the reason we can't host concerts... If everybody jumps around in sync it'll fall down. ****kk that!

lcfc"weasel" Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Was definitely a bit of movement up the back of SK1 on Sunday. Never heard this "it's meant to be like that" stuff before, interesting.
Simmo86 Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Craig Hignett's goal against the Gooners was the worst for it I reckon.
themotivator Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Was definitely a bit of movement up the back of SK1 on Sunday. Never heard this "it's meant to be like that" stuff before, interesting. i think its probably in a similar mould to hose massive sky scrapers that are built to wobble in the wind/earthquakes. all large buildings will inevitably move and unless there is a bit of give, they would just crack under the pressure. I just made this up of the top of my head.
SMX11 Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 I don't think we need to worry about the stadium collapsing ( it was shaking during the Poznan though ) every structure is made with a factor of safety of around 3. People who don't know what that means is that it is over engineered by 3 times.

I just made this up of the top of my head. No, you are right. The Humber and Severn Bridge are the same, they are 'elastic' within the concrete. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tacoma_Narrows_Bridge_(1940) - this was a disaster which led to lot of a design work where a balance could be found in accomdating the movement of activity and making sure it didn't fall apart.
samlcfc Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 I saw some documentary on football grounds showed on channel 5 once. Cant remember the details but im pretty sured it showed all the reasoning behind them building it so it sways llike that
Ozwin Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 I always thought I was imagining it swaying, to hear that it actually does move freaks me out a bit.
Ashley Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 I saw some documentary on football grounds showed on channel 5 once. Cant remember the details but im pretty sured it showed all the reasoning behind them building it so it sways llike that Was it on Valencias new mestella?(SP?)
samlcfc Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Was it on Valencias new mestella?(SP?) cant remember mate, think it was some series about giant structures and that one was on stadia
Houdini Logic Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 I once tried to argue with a pilot that the wings on his aeroplane shouldn't wobble - I was owned like there was no tomorrow. It's great that everyone has an opinion, but I'll stick my faith in the architects and engineers if it's all the same
Darkon84 Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 it must be designed to give a little, but im pretty sure that the walkers gives a little too much...hence why they arent allowed to stage music gigs there. apparently they cut back on costs during the building stage and the foundations arent good enough
Aeropars Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Its not the foundations that are flexing. Its the structure!
