Haydos Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 Nobody I know calls it Filbert Way and by extension I don't. If I referred to it as that nobody would have a clue what I was on about. I'd love it to be known as Filbert Way the way Southampton's ground is the Friends Providence St Mary's Stadium but it's never caught on and I doubt it will.
The Padster Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 It just sounds so corporate. I want the name to be synonymous with Leicester, not our owners. In 25 years it will called something else as well. Then it will become a joke. And that could be a really embarrassing company. It should have a permanent name. Agreed. I am not against your original point, but merely suggesting in the grand scheme of stadium names, the King Power Stadium is not that bad. But if I had a choice it would be Freemans Wharf. Mostly down to the transport options I have often envisaged for the stadium (whilst bored I often look on Google Earth at locations in Leicester and see how I would improve them, sad this may be but I have an interest in such things).
Jackirius Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 I think King Power Stadium would be a pretty decent name in terms of Stadium sponsored names. It is a very manly name.
Unit Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Let's cut the shit and get to the essentials, more urinals and more staff serving the lager.
Wymsey Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Let's cut the shit and get to the essentials, more urinals and more staff serving the lager. On top of that bring back Vicky fox and the the other one. Filbert seems lonely
Ozwin Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 If this supposid change is happening then surely getting something going, like a petition or something less threatening and sending it Top's way would be worth a shot? He strikes me as a footballing man and I reckon he'd appreciate the fans giving some input.
The Padster Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Let's cut the shit and get to the essentials, more urinals and more staff serving the lager decent bitter/cider.
Stevosevic Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Top strikes me as an owner who would listen to the fans, if people feel that strongly about it then something needs to be sent his way.
Jackirius Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Top strikes me as an owner who would listen to the fans, if people feel that strongly about it then something needs to be sent his way. Agreed with this and Ozwin. Dibs not doing it though.
bluebeau Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 I don't see a problem with the stadium being named Stadium King Power or King Power Stadium. But come on guys, if you had invested several million £'s into the football club, wouldn't you want your company name to be recognised significantly? The Thai owners appear to be the best thing that has ever happened to our football club, they seem to have the interests of the club in their future plans, so surely we cannot begrudge them naming the stadium after their company? They have brought in a world class manager & are backing him with funds, so imo we should be showing that we support them. However, it hasn't even been announced officially that the stadiums name is being changed, & if it is, the new name hasn't been disclosed so far.
ajthefox Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 what they should do is name the stadium after king power and turn the kiosks into duty free. Quality booze (extending way beyond lager of course ) at low low prices...

Kitchandro Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Top strikes me as an owner who would listen to the fans, if people feel that strongly about it then something needs to be sent his way. I emailed the club a while back but they never got back to me I emailed them about ticket problems too and they never got back to me I know that's not Top but the Club does wind me up sometimes

If we're going into that argument then it has to be said that they are just rich, greedy people who are using the club to get more money which they don't really need. Which I have no problem with, but as I've said, I'd like our stadium to be a place everyone recognises as Leicester City's home (as was the case with Filbert Street), and I don't think the owners really need to change the stadium name. Like I said I'm ok with the words King Power being plastered everywhere, but I'd like the stadium to have a proper stadium name. And saying the Thai owners appear to be the best thing that's happened to the club is a bit presumptuous at this stage, especially considering we are not promoted yet and we might be closer to that if we still had Pearson, who may have been pushed out due to the owners (but lets not drag that argument up again) It's half because the name is corporate and half because it will change again and again to other corporate names that I have a problem with. I'm sure a lot of you think I'm being petty but I do think the club needs to stick to it's roots and not distance itself from the fans. If Top was to give us this it would send out a very positive message that they respect the fans and the clubs traditions. As for the stadium itself, if it's going to be extended it would be cool if we did what some people suggested a while ago - they dig under the stands and extend the stadium forwards so it's closer to the pitch. Doubt that would happen though. Also the acoustics of the ground are terrible, maybe when they extend it they could change the rooves so they keep the sound in better?
Bert Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 If we get up, they're going to try and get planning permission to build on the east stand.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 There's only one thing the stadium needs, and that's investment in these contraptions
OmnipresentSam Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 The only improvememt I'd like to see is more steak pies. Last couple of times I've decided to buy one, they've sold out!
SMX11 Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 http://www.naseem.name/portfolio/leicester-city-stadium-development Something like this would do

So long as the standard of football improves most fans couldn't care less what the ground is named. As for digging under the stands - it is well known that when the stadium was built some preparatory work was done underground for the East Stand to have another tier built behind it to extend capacity. Like most threads on this Forum I will add to the repetition.
Criggers Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 There's only one thing the stadium needs, and that's investment in these contraptions Tigers have some fancy Guinness taps that spit out a pint in 6 seconds. Not a bad pint either considering. They're boring and fill from the top though
Guest Mee-9 Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 It looks abit tired the stadium I think, needs a lick of paint, and a few things replacing. Starting off with my uncles seat we broke when we were going mental last sunday.
FuriousFox46 Posted 12 January 2011 Author Posted 12 January 2011 I think we should name it Raw Dykes.
FuriousFox46 Posted 12 January 2011 Author Posted 12 January 2011 On top of that bring back Vicky fox and the the other one. Filbert seems lonely No! Vicky Vixen is a thief she stole food off of me once.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Thought it was being re-named Singha Stadium? Apologies if it's already been mentioned, haven't skimmed the thread.
purpleronnie Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 So long as the standard of football improves most fans couldn't care less what the ground is named. Thats sad, but fans really don't seem to give a shit.
