isaidno Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 Martin Brundle is to become BBC Sport's lead Formula 1 commentator in 2011, with David Coulthard moving alongside him as co-commentator.Brundle, who replaces Jonathan Legard, has commentated on 231 grands prix since retiring as an F1 driver in 1996. Brundle said he was "absolutely delighted and very motivated" by his new role alongside Coulthard. The Scot, who joined the BBC after retiring from F1 in 2008, said: "F1 is all about challenging yourself." Ben Gallop, BBC's head of F1, said: "We're always looking for ways to take our F1 coverage to another level - and for 2011 we have an exciting new combination in the commentary box. "We're keen to make the most of Martin Brundle's wealth of broadcasting experience and his popularity with the audience by giving him the role of lead commentator and putting him alongside David Coulthard, one of the biggest names in British motorsport and a skilled race analyst. "We want to tap into their combined on-track expertise - together they will provide our viewers with more immediate discussion, analysis and debate as the action happens." Coulthard, who won 13 grands prix in a 15-year F1 career, added: "This will be a big challenge for me, but one that I am looking forward to. There is a great team on the BBC F1 show and we're looking forward to the year ahead and to bringing something new to our loyal viewers." Brundle has commentated on 231 grands prix since he first joined ITV in 1997 after a 13-year F1 career, during which he drove for Tyrrell, Zakspeed, Williams, Brabham, Ligier, Benetton, McLaren and Jordan. This will be the first time he has been the lead commentator. Brundle and Coulthard have done screen tests in their new roles and Gallop said: "The results of screen tests have been very impressive and we are convinced this combination will deliver a fantastic commentary for our audience for what promises to be a thrilling 2011 season." Brundle said: "I'm absolutely delighted and very motivated that BBC Sport has asked me to become the lead Formula 1 commentator alongside David Coulthard. "We have been friends, rivals and colleagues for 18 years and combined we have driven more than 400 F1 grands prix and attended more than 700. "I've never felt more passionate about F1 and I can't wait to get started." Coulthard added: "I'm very excited to be joining forces with Martin in this new role of co-commentator. F1 is all about challenging yourself and this will be a big challenge for me, but one that I am looking forward to. "There is a great team on the BBC F1 show and we're looking forward to the year ahead and to bringing something new to our loyal viewers." The decision to team Brundle with Coulthard means there is no place for Legard in the BBC F1 commentary set-up. Gallop added: "We'd like to take this opportunity to thank Jonathan for his great work over the last two seasons. "He is a first-rate journalist and broadcaster who has been a core member of our team, helping to re-establish BBC Sport as the nation's F1 broadcaster. We wish him all the very best for the future." Glad Legard has gone but Brundle isn't a commentator, he's a pundit.
Narborough_fox Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 I actually think they should of got David Croft from BBC 5 LIVE, think he is a fantastic commentator. Not sure how Brundle and Coulthard will cope.
wurmer Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 In HD this year & new role for EJ http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/mobile/motorsport/formula_one/9359509.stm
jpsaxo Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 I actually think they should of got David Croft from BBC 5 LIVE, think he is a fantastic commentator. Not sure how Brundle and Coulthard will cope. Definitely agree with this. Loved listening to his commentary friday practise sessions on the red button! At least legard has gone anyway, it couldnt have got much worse lets be honest
Ford Super Sunday Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 But when you think about it, what did Legard do? He introduced with his monologue, wraps it up. In the middle, during the race, Brundle does as much lead commentating as Legard did. Brundle often links over to Kravitz and reacts what what's on the track. He's not just someone there to analyse and offer an opinion. I'm partly glad they didn't get Croft from 5Live, the risk is that it doesn't work and he isn't suited to TV. The only real concern is that Dulltard isn't very exciting, and I wouldn't mind someone to replace Coultard and stand with Jordan in the pre and post race to reign him in. Still, superb to see HD!

isaidno Posted 8 February 2011 Author Posted 8 February 2011 Bruno Senna, Vitantonio Liuzzi and Nick Heidfeld are the three drivers that Renault is considering as the replacement for Robert Kubica this season, team boss Eric Boullier has said. The injuries that Kubica picked up in his rally crash last weekend look set to keep him out for at least most of the season ahead - meaning his Renault outfit need to find a stand-in for him that can capitalise on the promising early form of the R31. Although the team's lead reserve driver Bruno Senna has a year of F1 racing under his belt, his lack of experience in developing a front-running car may force Renault to look elsewhere for someone who can help guide the team through 2011. Speaking at a press conference at the Santa Corona hospital on Tuesday, Boullier said that the team was evaluating its options for a Kubica replacement – and suggested the current plan for one of the reserve drivers to test at Jerez this week. "The first one driving will at the moment be our first test driver," Boullier was quoted as saying by IVG.it. "In the meantime, we will look for Kubica's substitute: the names considered are Senna, Liuzzi and Heidfeld. "The team is close to Robert, we wait for him with open arms and we hope he can come back before the end of the season. "It was Robert's choice, he wanted to go rallying at all costs and Renault authorised it. Now we just wait to know what the recovery time is for our driver." Boullier said that Kubica was in high spirits considering his injuries, having visited him with team-mate Vitaly Petrov. "We have been with Robert for about fifteen minutes: we have joked and we have found him very well. Obviously he immediately wanted to know the team's programme for this season."
Nick Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 After having thoroughly San Jose Asian Escort discussed the fine line San Jose Asian Escorts between escort services and prostitution, there is no San Jose Escort denying that there is a huge possibility this single line will be crossed every now and then. After having San Jose Escorts thoroughly discussed the fine line between escort services and prostitution, I decided not to click on your post link. SOCCERROO FOX Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 This IS Webbers year..............................
StanSP Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 That new Renault is the sex. Better than the blue and yellow. Ferrari's is class as usual. The Williams is meant to be a really dark blue apparently, despite it looking totally black in pictures.
Narborough_fox Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 The mercedes is horrendous, love Ferraris car as usual. Mclaren looks the same as last year but who cares it's still sexy. Oh and Renault
isaidno Posted 13 February 2011 Author Posted 13 February 2011 Hispania F111 , much better color scheme than last season Virgin Force India
JamesO Posted 20 February 2011 Posted 20 February 2011 So who does everybody think will win this year? Got a feeling that Hamilton will win it this season, i say it every year since hes been in F1 but surely hes in a better position then when he won it 2008?
StanSP Posted 20 February 2011 Posted 20 February 2011 I want Massa to win. I think Button/Vettel will win the championship again.

Uncle Monty Posted 20 February 2011 Posted 20 February 2011 A bit early to tell but the McLaren looks off the pace.
samjohnson Posted 20 February 2011 Posted 20 February 2011 Ive got a feeling this is Webber's year. He was so close last year with all the silly little mistakes. This is his time to shine. I love the new Pirelli tyres. They suit the Lotus Renault very well with the Yellow print. And the Red Bull for that matter. Going to be an interesting season...
isaidno Posted 20 February 2011 Author Posted 20 February 2011 The tests have been hard to read this year. Red Bull look to be the quickest again . Mclaren have had loads of problems , not looking good for them. It looks like the Bahrain GP is gonna be cancelled. It's a rubbish race anyway .

I heard it'll be postponed as opposed to cancelled altogether?
Brainy Posted 20 February 2011 Posted 20 February 2011 Suppose its too late to swap Abu Dhabi and Bahrain around
anotherharboroughfox Posted 20 February 2011 Posted 20 February 2011 I hope the ba$tards at Renault have an awful season. Trying to push out last seasons Lotus Racing team. Talk about bad sportsmanship.
