VinceNoir Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 This is great stuff! Hope the top 3 crash into each other leaving Kobayashi as the race winner!
StanSP Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 This is great stuff! Hope the top 3 crash into each other leaving Kobayashi as the race winner! Nearly had your wish there when the 3 leaders came across that traffic! Petrov and Alguersuari out; Alguersuari going in to Hamilton rear wing.
Nick Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Red Flag. Race over. Vettel's a lucky bastard! Re-start..... please.... Oh and I hope Petrov is okay.....
StanSP Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Yep race to be resumed and not finished immediately despite a red flag. Apparently Petrov got knocked out but came to almost straight away. He went in to the barrier head on. Hope he's alright, too.
Haydos Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Cracking racing, that crash is disappointing though on from Button's point of view. From a neutral perspective it doesn't seem fair that you can fiddle with the cars on the grid after the red flag.
isaidno Posted 29 May 2011 Author Posted 29 May 2011 Suprised it's being restarted. I thought if the race was 75% complete a result was called , I'm glad it is though.
Haydos Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Suprised it's being restarted. I thought if the race was 75% complete a result was called , I'm glad it is though. Correct decision IMO. There was racing to be done in the top 3, no logical reason to end it at that point. If it was dead then fair enough. I'm sure there's plenty of reasons for using up laps when the safety car's out there but does anyone have any suggestions why they couldn't pause it while the safety car takes them round? This race, for example would have had a much more exciting conclusion if the race was effectively put on hold after a biggish incident.
isaidno Posted 29 May 2011 Author Posted 29 May 2011 Not sure that Vettel would have won without the red flag, robbed us of a fantastic finish. Hamilton should get a grid penalty for the next race.

Yeah his tyres wouldn't have held out I don't think. Luck on his side today. Hamilton finishing 6th by barging other drivers out the race. What a ****.
isaidno Posted 29 May 2011 Author Posted 29 May 2011 Pretty sure Hamilton will demoted down the order
ScouseFox Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Vettel made his own luck though, most would have been in as soon as Button went in, but he stayed out for about 50 or so laps on one set of tyres. Very brave, and he got the luck he needed with the flag. Who knows if he'd have won it anyway, but it would have been a close run thing!
Brainy Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Hamilton has a nerve saying it was Massa's fault for their little bump at the hairpin. No, it was your fault Lewis for trying to over-take when the opportunity was clearly not there. Yeah his tyres wouldn't have held out I don't think. Luck on his side today. Hamilton finishing 6th by barging other drivers out the race. What a ****. **** off and learn the rules. judging by your earlier post you seemed to enjoy schumachers overtake on hamilton at the exact same place, whats the difference between that and the hamilton incident? hamilton gave schumacher space while massa turned in on hamilton. doubt its on purpose yeah, everywhere on this track is difficult to overtake, but there are about four places where if you're feeling risky then you'll go for it. watch the whole race and you'll see plenty of times where Hamilton could have had a lunge down the inside of the guy infront but he held back. as was said in commentary, to overtake at that hairpin you need the two drivers to give enough space and for the driver infront to be aware of the guy behind. now if it wasn't on purpose from massa then part of the blame must fall in massa's hands for not being aware of what is around him. maldanado though is at full blame, just seen another replay and he turns in on hamilton making him cut the corner or hit into the side of him.

He was given a drive through for it so doesn't that mean you don't understand them? And the Hamilton-Massa incident was completely different to the Hamilton-Schumacher one. Schumacher got up the inside nice and early and had the overtake before the corner. Hamilton dived in and was barely halfway alongside Massa.

So, as Haydos said, Hamilton got punished meaning he was going against the rules. You learn them. Then fuck off anyway. Hamilton/Schumacher and Hamilton/Massa, although at the same place, were 2 situations. Schumacher had enough space to overtake Hamilton and could fit through the edge of the track and Hamilton's car. He took his opportunity. As for Hamilton on Massa - Massa was so close to the edge of the track that it would have been impossible for Hamilton to overtake cleanly and fairly. As a result, he didn't do that, did he? He then had to go in to Massa's car because of his own mistake. And then being the dick he is, he blames Massa for going in to him. All Massa was doing was following his own racing line and he couldn't have altered it otherwise he would have gone wide and in to the barrier himself. It was all caused by Hamilton being over-ambitious, therefore he got punished by causing a collision.

Now if it wasn't on purpose from massa then part of the blame must fall in massa's hands for not being aware of what is around him. As Haydos points out, he got a drive through I agree Massa had part of the blame too, but mainly for going up the rear of the Red Bull in front. I suppose he would've gotten a penalty as well had he not crashed.

That might have been a bit harsh, can't remember it perfectly but weren't they quite close anyway and Massa was clearly being affected by Hamilton's contact with him? Meh. Great race, Hamilton has gotten off lightly though if there's no retrospective punishment considering the incidents he was involved in.
StanSP Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Is Hamilton seriously using his skin colour as a reason for stewards bringing him in ?
Haydos Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Is Hamilton seriously using his skin colour as a reason for stewards bringing him in ? What's he said? I'm watching Hud v Pet now.
