CloudFox Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 Unfortunately I'm not going to be there, but is it worth trying to get a chant going at the Derby game either when Waggy comes on, or if he's just still on the bench, along the lines of: Martyn Waghorn is a Blue, is a Blue, is a Blue, Martyn Waghorn is a Blue, Back off Derby! I know the last bit is sure to descend into profanity , but it's just another way to make him know he's still wanted. Good to see him joining in with the celebration yesterday too
ajthefox Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 vassell done relatively little? deary me what you expecting messi? good to see waggy joining in the celebrations, he will be going nowhere... ha I wasn't expecting Messi but he's scored 3 in how many games?
Stevosevic Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 The Vassell criticism is very harsh. Hes played about 3 games in his natural position, then people moan that Sven is playing someone out of postion so they wan't to see Waghorn playing, another striker that would then be out of position! Vassell is a better option out on the wing than Waghorn, Waghorn has to be patient incase we lose Yakubu for whatever reason.

Waghorn is wasted on the wing but he's more wasted on the bench. Vassell has been completely anonymous out there apart from a combined total of 1 game. This is not necessarily a criticism of Vassell, but it's not his position and he's rubbish at playing there. I also feel his effort has been lacking recently. Waghorn played on the wing a few times last season and looked competent. At Sheffield United he came on to play on the wing for 5 minutes and created a chance, in a game where Vassell had barely touched the ball. Vassell is ridculously over-favoured, Waghorn is ignored. He deserves more of a chance and I think Sven is being a bit unfair, picking favourites over form.
Southern Fox Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 I met with Waggy yesterday before the game. Im his current sponsor He told me before the game he was on the bench and said he was hoping to get some match time which obviously didnt happen He was in really good spirits and he gave no indication he was moving anywhere on loan. He said he was waiting for his chance. He also added that he had a golf lesson on Friday in gale force winds and he was terrible at it
Brown Fox Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 Waggy was about to come on but then Hobbs came on instead for the injured Bamba. Also Naughton went straight to Waggy when he scored and he looked quite happy. Obviously I have no idea what's going on in his mind but I'm hoping he'll stay and get his chance soon.
cc_star Posted 18 February 2011 Posted 18 February 2011 Worth bringing on earlier, or even a start? Vassell could probably do with a week off & come back fresher, but I don't think it would suit Waghorn to be pushed out of the centre & obviously the Yak is the first forward on the team sheet, but he seems to be spent by about the 60th minute. Actually whilst writing this I've changed my mind and perhaps we shouldn't change a winning team, it seems to be working quite well brining Dyer on for Vassell (or a strangely ineffective Gally tonight) perhaps Waghorn can offer more by replacing the Yak after he's peaked (generalising - about 60-70mins)

How about Waggy for Vass, Dyer for Gally and Abe for Oakley to freshen things up for the forthcoming Cardiff v Leicester game?
hotdogfox Posted 18 February 2011 Posted 18 February 2011 Svens doing a miraculous job at city, got the tactics absolutely spot on at the moment and the changes he makes are brilliant, Waggy for Yak and keeping shape obviously working... making good use of the squad I am really impressed, enjoy the ride guys!
