Corky Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Hopefully when Waghorn gets his chance he takes it. Vassell and Yakubu will probably be our strike force but Waghorn as back up is good.
Liamlcfc1 Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 So who else do you know is coming in and out the club today chief Ricardo Daniel Uchechi Johnson i think
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 Article in the mail saying we will bring in Bruma this week, and Waghorn will go to the sheep. Linky: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1353812/Chelsea-allow-defender-Jeffrey-Bruma-join-Leicester-loan.html
STEVIE B Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 Does anyone know anything about UCHECHI ? We must hang onto WAGHORN,what a prospect ! We will get injury problems and WAGHORN is ideal. We should loan HOWARD out,if anyone.SVEN likes quick players,HOWARDS days are numbered.

Linky: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1353812/Chelsea-allow-defender-Jeffrey-Bruma-join-Leicester-loan.html I'm not keen on waggy going out on loan, but if we are going to then I beg not the sheep. Not only are they rivals but more importantly have we not learnt anything from the whole DJ saga?

cc_star Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 Stringer said its likely he will be joining Derby on loan (he also mentioned a defender leaving, presumably Hobbs, but with the addition of Bruma we have plenty of options at CB) For me, that leaves us short up front on what is going to be a long and challenging run-in, sure you can replace Yakubu with Vassell and are generally both on the pitch anyway. Waggy is the only alternative

Kitchandro Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 Agree we should keep Waghorn, but what about trying Schlupp? What's the point in trying Schlupp if we are going to loan out Waghorn? Waghorn should be above him in the pecking order (not that I don't want to see Schlupp at all) Sven really should have brought him on for Vassell or Yakubu today after an hour, they were both poor. Same should have been done Tuesday night (he as brought on for 5 minutes and did more than Vassell did in the whole match).
Karljohn Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 Vassell 3 goals in 3 months and talk of Waghorn being shipped out?
Guy Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 The bottom line is that Waggy needs more games where he belongs (at Leicester!) to get him anywhere near back to his on loan last season's best! He still looks capably dangerous and powerful when he comes on from the bench and it's always reassuring to have that back up in attack if things aren't going well. I cannot understand why there is talk of him going anywhere else really, especially to the Sheep! Also as he's so comparatively young and one for the future......if not right now even! Yakubu and VAssell are not in their prime years anymore. They're experienced, yes but neither of them are long term players at any stretch in my opinion.

I'd say very much in his prime years, a footballer should be peaking at 28.
acooling08 Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 DO NOT LOAN HIM TO ANY CHAMPIONSHIP CLUB, ESPECIALLY DERBY. WILL WE EVER LEARN? 'Oh he'll get starts at Derby and score some goals'. Why do we want him to score for the sheep shaggers? We want them to get relegated not give them a decent striker. Loan him to league 1 if you are going to at all. Waggy > Vassell

OK he wasn't playing well when Sven arrived but he's good enough to be getting more game time than he is. It annoys me that Sven's favourite Vassell keeps getting picked whilst playing average at best, and Waghorn is basically ignored completely.
Guy Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 28? I'd say very much in his prime years, a footballer should be peaking at 28. I thought Vassell was 30-31? Still in his prime years maybe but it largely depends on the individual re their prime years, longevity et al in conjunction with injuries, the length of time you've already been in the professional game and so on when you're 30 or so. Perhaps Yakubu is 28 but anyway that's splitting heirs! I feel that Waghorn has more to offer to the team in the longer (and even shorter term) than Vassell for starters. Look at Vassell's paltry goals/appearances ratio since he's been here for instance and look at Waghorn's admirable record last season when played regularly - and he's even scored some this season also, even if not for a little while now through always being on the bench and so on. VAssell should be a squad player, Waghorn should be more involved than he is at present under Sven. Yakubu is more important to us than Vassell in my opinion but is his signing fpor us from Everton guaranteed if we don't go up I wonder?? - perish the thought!

hotdogfox Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 vassell done relatively little? deary me what you expecting messi? good to see waggy joining in the celebrations, he will be going nowhere...
cc_star Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 Vassell's 3 goals for us have come during a much improved period, with much greater organisation and improved players around him than Waggys 3 goals. Vassell & Yakubu's past couple of performances have been lacking effort, it's almost like they know they're undroppable. I'd love to see what a motivated Waggy could do with 2 starts in our current fantastic run. I suppose we'll get an idea when he runs out for the sheep, although it won't be the same as they're not as good as us or create the chances we do. Schlapp is out injured for a few weeks according to Stringer
MattyFromLE Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 Really don't wanna see him go, especially to the lambs. He certainly doesn't look like he wants to go when getting involved in the goal celebrations

Waghorn was coming on until Bamba picked up a knock then Hobbs had to be brought on as the last sub instead!

Waghorn should be above him in the pecking order (not that I don't want to see Schlupp at all) He is above him in the pecking order, which is exactly why he's on the bench and Schlupp isn't. But, Waghorn wants to go on loan and play football and that is going to free up the place on the bench for Schlupp.
surrifox Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 Clough was asked after their match yesterday about the loan position and said he'd failed to get either of the 2 forwards in on loan he'd been trying for. Confirmed that he had enquired about Waghorn but didn't think it would happen now
