hackneyfox Posted 26 January 2011 Posted 26 January 2011 Dependant on who actually wants him though isn't it. If they aren't queuing up for him then Direby it is.
cc_star Posted 26 January 2011 Posted 26 January 2011 He wouldn't need to move house to go to Derby, so will probably suit him as an individual. Hopefully Preston make a late bid, Phil Brown maybe a bit of a dick but they're no threat via their league position, they're not an emotional or geographical rival He scored a pen, gave an assist & hit the post yesterday in a reserve game for us so hopefully for him as an individual he gets some game time somewhere, even if I personally believe he should be on the bench for us.
cc_star Posted 26 January 2011 Posted 26 January 2011 Stringer's Twitter http://twitter.com/#...259254627667969 and I'll have some news on a player leaving on loan in a while. Will keep you updated. Waghorn maybe?
Marmite Posted 26 January 2011 Posted 26 January 2011 I dont want to see Waghorn go as he was quality last season and I still think he can do a good job for us this season but I think his confidence has just gone. Maybe send him to crissy p at Charlton for a month just to build his confidence back but please dont send him to the sheep
Drift Posted 26 January 2011 Posted 26 January 2011 I'd say he was referring to N'Guessen. The news of his loan to Southampton was Stringers next tweet.
cambridgefox Posted 26 January 2011 Posted 26 January 2011 Waghorn has done nothing recently to justify being in the starting XI. Its a squad game and he is a young player who will get his chance. He has not been good enough this season to merit a starting spot. Spot on.He is a prospect, but at the moment i do not think he is good enough, we have better in the team right now without a shadow of a doubt. His time might come, but we may regret that it is not for us,get him playing,,and then we will judge at the moment, half a season wonder!
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 26 January 2011 Posted 26 January 2011 i agree with Pagey on this one, please if Waggy is to go on loan, someone, anyone apart from Derby, F****t or Coventry
Callabinho Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 Looks like Waggy is staying i am for one very Happy! we need him, once he regains full confidence then he will be banging them in again!!!
Leicester Lass Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 From the Merc: Leicester City could make an apparent U-turn over the immediate future of striker Martyn Waghorn. Manager Sven-Goran Eriksson last week appeared to pave the way for the 21-year-old striker to join fellow Championship side Derby County on loan once Paul Gallagher and Darius Vassell were fully fit. However, assistant boss Derek Fazackerley has told the Mercury that "it is by no means certain" that Waghorn will be allowed to make a short-term move away from the Walkers Stadium. Waghorn, who had a successful loan spell at City before completing a £2m move from Premier League Sunderland in the summer, has been frustrated by his lack of first-team action and has made only five starts under Eriksson. He is understood to have asked to go out on loan – with the Rams favourite to sign him – but Fazackerley said: "We listen to players' opinions but we have to do what is right for Leicester City. "We are well aware that there are several clubs out there who possibly want to take Martyn on loan but we are in no hurry to move him out. "In fact, we want him to stay because we've got to look after ourselves and assess where we are in the next two or three days in regard to the injury situation. "Then we will sit down and have another chat with Martyn and see what is the best for him and the football club." Waghorn scored one goal and made another in the reserves' 2-2 draw in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Hull in midweek and Fazackerley added: "We absolutely want him to stay and we've had a conversation with him about where he is. "He has scored for the reserves on Tuesday and come off the bench in the past two first-team games and done really well. Most players at that age want to play regular football and, if he wasn't looking to do that, you would be a little bit concerned. "Everyone should want to be picked every Saturday but we can only pick 11 players and there are going to be a lot of games between now and the end of the season, and we hope to be pushing for at least the play-offs. "Players like him are going to be very important and we absolutely want him to stay. "We've had a conversation with Martyn about where he is. I can only reiterate he is part of our plans."
cambridgefox Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 Looks like Waggy is staying i am for one very Happy! we need him, once he regains full confidence then he will be banging them in again!!! Part of me is glad he is staying, part of me says get him out on loan, but not to our rivals. This way he gets the opportunity to get his confidence back,an oppurtunity that he is not being given at the moment ,and probably rightly so.
Ric Flair Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 Waghorn needs a run in our team, he's been given the square root of bugger all under Sven. He has his reasons not for picking him, but he is a fantastic prospect and we need to give him the opportunities. I think he'd be mustard alongside Yakubu.
Ricey Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 That Merc article indicates we won't leave over the next few days, but could still be gone by next Tuesday. I hope Waggy grits his teeth and fights for his place, we need him.
Christoph Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 Put him and Yakubu a go together and stick vassell on for the last 20 minute replacing one of them.
Roy Cropper Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 Put him and Yakubu a go together and stick vassell on for the last 20 minute replacing one of them. Why? Surely you start with your 2 best strikers - Yakubu and Vassell.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 I hope Waggy stays and fights for his place but as stated above if he does go out on loan still, please, please, please not to one of our rivals (either local or promotion). Maybe a side like Preston who are near the bottom and not a local rival etc etc (and weve already played them twice etc)

muzzy1981 Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 Waghorn needs a decent strike partner to play with in order to be effective. Be nice to see him and the Yak have a proper go together. Not saying i'd drop Vassel but if he gets injured or is having a poor game givehim a go.
foxoffderby Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 Im glad the management are seeking sense, he is a quality player we need him. The natives in Derby I was talking to this morning are disapointed he might not be coming and with them losing Commons as well they are in dire needs of striker right now. Ha ha.
Bryn Posted 27 January 2011 Posted 27 January 2011 He's contracted for a while and he's young. Maybe Sven just wants to have him as a prospect rather than a starter? Not ideal for Martyn, but it doesn't mean he's completely out of the loop. If Sven really didn't fancy him, I think he'd have shipped him off the wage bill then flogged him in summer.
cc_star Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Derby are favourites to sign Connor Sammon from Kilmarnock for £400k (been turned down, so far though) which would suggest they've given up hope of grabbing Waggy *edit* According to Tanner, Sven: Waggy is staying http://twitter.com/#!/RobTannerMerc/status/32083449309298688

Liamlcfc1 Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Waggy staying i told Rob Tanner that as he came into the training ground
Wymsey Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Waggy staying i told Rob Tanner that as he came into the training ground So who else do you know is coming in and out the club today chief
Ric Flair Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 I'm glad Waghorn is staying, it means we are fairly comfy upfront with Yakubu, Vassell and Waghorn. Not to mention Big Steve.
