Your 'Second' Club

I was arguing against the post not attacking him as a person. I'm not questioning his moral values. I've got no problem with him stating his opinion either but he ends up with a certain responsibility as his views rightly or wrongly are always going to reflect on the group he represents as a whole, it's in his name for a start.

I'm not here to have a personal argument with anyone and definitely not attack someone I don't even know so please don't accuse me of that.

Well I'm pretty sure the post had no relevance to The Fosse Boys, just a fair, personal opinion. So why did you need to bring them into it? If you can prove where I've said that you've attacked someone then I will apologise.

Why should I even have to say that? I think most people can make a clear distinction between wanting a particular team to win a given match and outright declaring a club to be your 'second team'.

Not really, in your first post you said that you didn't understand why anyone would favour another team at all unless they have some kind of link to the area. Having a 'favourite' top flight team and 'having a preference for' isn't a million miles away.

I dunno, it's not really an important subject. I just did emphasise in the opening post that it may just be a slight preference for a team and not neccesarily supporting them.

Like I said in my last post, I didn't say he was speaking on behalf of them or even mentioning them. I just said that naturally people are going to associate his views with those of the other fans who are in the group? You defended him as a person but I never said any personal opinions about him, why would I?

I understand you probably thought I was being a bit of a ****, yes I was abrupt in the post but I just put what I thought.

Which is exactly what FB did, yet for some reason it was elitist.

Also, In the case of the first bit in bold, does that mean because I'm a Leicester fan, people will associate my views with every other Leicester fan? I mean, we're all the same group of fans after all.

Norwich as I live here, but dont really follow them that much, I hope they do well however if we meet them in the league or play offs this year, I hate them for the day :)

Strange how most of those who call the Fosse Boys elitist are those who've never met any of the group.

Not funny at all, in fact it's genuinely significant. I don't doubt that lots of people would love you guys and enjoy getting involved if they did so offline. What you should consider is what impact your online 'face' has on whether or not they do.

Valid point and this has probably been put across better by Fosse Boy and Dom_Harborough Fox, but the problem is that a lot of the comments made by some of the lads on here that have been taken negatively were the personal views of that poster, rather than the views of the group as a whole. A lot of us are idealistic about support and have generally set views of what constitutes good, vocal support. Does this mean we think we're better than any other supporter? No, not at all. Whether you choose to sit down quietly and observe the game, stand up and sing traditional Leicester songs as we do or even sing about Yuki eating dogs, the fact is that football is an expensive pastime and as a whole we salute any fan who takes the time, money and effort to go all over the country to support the lads. Some of the best away days have been when we've had fans who've had bugger all to do with us joining in and enjoying the atmosphere. That said, we all accept that our group isn't for everyone and that we aren't everybody's cup of tea.

The problem comes when we're expected to take any abuse thrown at us, online and offline, but not to respond or even critique other supporter groups. For instance, on the Yuki chants, it seemed that Fosse Boys who slated them had their comments subjected to greater scrutiny than those not involved with us. On some of the more commonly occurring issues such as chants, standing and problems with stewards, it's perhaps natural when you're constantly having the same argument over and over again to become somewhat irritated when you're answering the same question for the 1500th time. I'm sure you feel the same when answering the 'why do Cardiff and Swansea play in England when they're Welsh' crap a minimum of four times a season.

In all fairness though, when we have met and spoken to lads who've criticised us before on our travels we have found more than most have been open-minded and amenable to our views and have probably gone away thinking they have more in common with us than they'd realised before. Overall, Leicester fans have proved to be a more friendly and decent bunch than many on here give our fanbase credit for. So long as there is a culture of mutual respect, there's no reason at all for us to come across quite so bolshy, we're a friendly bunch and happy to welcome anyone who's open to our way of thinking to join us, more the merrier and all that.

Sorry to hijack the thread again people. I also look out for St. Pauli's and VfL Bochum's results when I remember.

No real second teams, just a few I have soft spots for.

In addition to ones I've already mentioned in this thread: AFC Wimbledon & Luton - After the way they were both ****ed over by the FA, as far as I'm concerned success for either of those is a win for football.

Bradford City, as I used to live there and always got tickets through my dads work.

As I said earlier, Grimsby are a team I have a soft spot for. Knowing some of the fans who are generally quite a good bunch and the memories of the game where Muzzy scored that overhead kick in 2002 are the main factors.

I want all the Lincolnshire sides to do well though, five years ago I had three Football League sides within an hour's drive and now it's down to zero. :(

Part of Boston's undoing was thanks to the man now in charge at Crawley, Steve Evans, so I expect that to go wrong before long.

All three even have proper lower league grounds as well, none of this identikit ground shite.

I don't have a second club as such, but I am particularly keen to see Newcastle and (less so) QPR do badly. A lot of my football-loving friends support those two sides and, living in and coming from London, I don't really have any particular hatred for Cov, Forest or Derby. So those games are massive. Especially Newcastle.

City games aside, the hardest I've ever celebrated a goal was Gareth Barry's goal that sent Newcastle down in 2009. That was brilliant. :D

I must admit I am particularly keen to see QPR crash and burn with Colin at the helm and Paddy 'Drugs Cheat' Kenny between the sticks. Whinging bunch of bitches that side.
