Guest Basildon Fox Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 Am I the only one not so confident in Ricardo? Sure he has experience etc but he's, shall we say, a very continental goal keeper, in other words not very good with crosses. I notice no one has posted a youtube video of Greece's goal in the Euro 2004 final What he adds is a genuine competition for Weale to keep his place. Both are a similar standard, Weale better at dealing with crosses but Ricardo a better long shot stopper, both have good reflexes. If it means one of them has to raise their game to stay in the side then that can only be a good thing. Lets face it Logan is no where near the required standard so another keeper was always a must. I find it amazing that we are all a little deflated that we have signed an experienced international goalkeeper as we did not sign Shay Given. Times have certainly changed since the Thai/Indonesian take over. I have a feeling it is going to be a hell of a ride!!
Finnegan Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 Yeah, I forgot Chris Weale is fantastic in the air. Oh...
purpleronnie Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 Ricardo Is known to be poor in the air and our league is pretty direct so I'm a little concerned.
hackneyfox Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 Weale is a decent (short range) shot stopper, beyond that he excels at nothing.
Houdini Logic Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 Did noone tell Sven that players with one name rarely work out for us?
themotivator Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 what about that aiyegbeni bloke we just signed?

Jimbo Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 I'll post it after you post one of Weale against Derby Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those really massive Weale fans, who defends him to the death. I just hope people aren't expecting Ricardo to be as good as some are making out. I'm happy with the signing, as pointed out it adds competition for the place, but he's prone to some big errors particularly when it comes to crosses in the box
nickelbyfox Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 If I am not mistaken, he has signed a contract until the end of the season, so will probably only start if he looks better than Weale in training. Weale came as second string from Bristol City and we are getting second string from Betis. Worth a shot imo. I also think the fact he has come here and signed a short term contract shows must really want to play football, I mean spain to Leicester for a 6 month contract or less, hopefully has something to prove!

Defending crosses will likely only be a scenario from set pieces. We will be faced with the odd one on one situation and Weale is getting beat left right and center from long range so maybe Ricardo is judged better than Weale in those departments.
darko2k7 Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 Just wondering where this he as not played for ages as come from ?. Because when I heard this I was under the impression that he had been without a club for years and well out of sorts yet reading on the BBC red button this morning it said he was only released by Real Betis last month surly he would have play a game or two recently
