It's not like shouting 'Waghorn' or the name of another striker because there are a number of players who could come off for a forward or attacking midfielder. But when the crowd are chanting 'Weale', the chant is as much anti-Ricardo as it is pro-Weale. Whether or not you agree with Ricardo coming in during a decent spell for Weale, is it really the best idea to start chanting Weale's name in the middle of a game in which Ricardo is playing? All that will happen is that Ricardo will feel under pressure and be more likely to make rash decisions if he knows the crowd are on his back and waiting for him to make a mistake. Should we not be encouraging each and every one of our players when they are on the pitch?

It's different if Weale ran down the touchline keeping warm, because its chanting for him, at him. But it's counter-productive to try & undermine a player on the pitch, especially one who's role relies on confidence almost more than any other

In L1 I felt embarrassed and it was actually cringe worthy hearing people around shouting Weale. I know Ricardo has butter fingers, bit it does nothing for his confidence hearing another keepers name being shouted while he's playing. Ben Mee ha a shite couple of games, so let's give Ricardo a chance , without making his confidence worse.... IN Sven we trust and all that....

I haven't been that impressed with Ricardo since he came in & think that dropping Weale was very harsh but I don't see what chanting for Weale today was going to achieve. We should get behind the lads who are on the pitch at the time.

But this is not about which keeper is better. Whether or not that is true is irrelevant. Is his distribution going to improve if the crowd shout 'Weale'? Is it likely to increase his confidence if the crowd is audibly against him? Will it make his decision-making better in any way? No good can come of it. Slate it after the game if you feel he has performed poorly, but don't do it during the game, especially when he can almost certainly hear it.

In fact the way the crowd reacted to bad passes or losing possession tonight was terrible and plays right into the hands of the opposition by heaping pressure onto our players. Its during these bad patches that our players need us to get behind them and help see them through. We're on a cracking run which looks like giving us a chance at the top 2 so got behind them there will be more scrappy games to come. And when this run comes to an end applaud the players and we will start again. We're going places so get off their backs, be positive and show the thai owners what great support leicester has got.
