Chanting 'Weale' while Ricardo is playing

Do you think Yakubu would be come less confident, and feel bad if the fans chanted Waghorn on Tuesday against Cardiff? Dyer's name often gets chanted when he's on the bench, do you think Vassell starts to worry?

No.

Unless people were actually jeering and booing Ricardo, it shouldn't affect him, unless he is an emotionally fragile sort, which I doubt.

Chris Weale, like Waghorn and Dyer are Leicester City players and have been for a couple of years, so if the fans want to chant their names they have every right to do so. I support Leicester City the club and all the players and staff, not just those on the pitch at the time.

haha thats a bit different as Waggy could replace any of the front 3 and maybe even a midfield player, whereas chanting Weale only means one thing..... Drop Ricardo!

I take your point though although for a keeper on his home debut to hear fans chant for the other goal keeper, I don't care how confident you are, that will effect you.

I know, and I am being deliberately obtuse at the moment, but the point is still valid. Chris Weale is a Leicester player, therefore the fans are perfectly entitled to chant his name, if there are still some people worried that Ricardo's feelings will get hurt, how about getting up and chanting his name, rather than grumbling in your seat. Ricardo is now a Leicester player too like Weale, and likewise his name should be chanted by the fans too, like any new player to a club though he has to earn the fans adulation, Weale has done that for performances like Sheff United, by all accounts so far Ricardo hasn't.

Ricardo needs a match-winning performance as Weale's Sheffield Yo. We, the fans of Leicester City, we are fickle bunch. We need PROOF that Ricardo is the number one. There is no better way to prove it like in the difficult match away to Cardiff

I think Sven's playing it pretty sly at the moment, Ricardo needed games as he hasn't played for a long time and he's new to this country and this league. We've got some massive games coming up where, if we'd carried on playing Weale, we know his weakness from long distance shots and so do alot of opposition managers. By giving Ricardo a few games and acclimatising him to this league a bit, it gives us another option and doesn't allow teams like Cardiff to focus on Weale's weakness as their game plan as they have no idea who's going to be starting. I think bringing Ricardo in for those two games (and possibly more) was Sven playing smoke and mirrors.

In Sven we trust!

ricardo has to win the fans over, the guy has been in football for long enough to realise this and i doubt he is bothered by weales name being chanted.

he is probably more bothered by conceding a goal than anything else.

I don't see your point there. Ricardo needs to give us something to chant about first. Fans don't just chant players names as they are in a Leicester shirt. They have to earn it. Yes we know that, everyone agrees.

Chanting a substitute keepers name is far different from chanting an outfield players name too, as how often do you see a Goalkeeper changed in a game without an injury?

I think the point people are arguing, is what good can come during a match for chanting a GOALKEEPER (keyword) when a change is never going to happen and surely will only have a negative effect on the goalkeeper on the pitch?

I am all for people voicing their opinions and all for chants but surely one that will have no effect on the 90mins other than perhaps negative, are pointless??

as far as i'm concerned i'll back anyone who wears a Leicester shirt.

I have to say that this is not the first time Leicester "fans" have done this. and it makes no sense. Whether you think Weale is better or not (which to be fair on the evidence shown so far he is clearly the better keeper) chanting his name is blatantly a negative chant aimed at Ricardo. I remember people booing Mark de Vries when his name was announced in the starting line up, and shite tho he was he was he wasn't as bad as people made out and he was used a a scape goat because we were not playing well. It's just not the way to go about trying to encourage current players and to encourage new players to come to the club.

Me too, was just trying to say I understand why people won't be chanting Ricardo like they are for Waggy and Bamba etc

We don't owe Mr Flappy ANY loyalty, he has to earn that, people are just saying what they see, 2 games 2 poor performances.

But If there's any fairness in this lovely game, (Don't hold your breath) Weale WILL BE BACK AT CARDIFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:chant:WE WANTWEALE!!!!! WE WANTWEALE!!!!! WE WANTWEALE!!!!! WE WANTWEALE!!!!! WE WANTWEALE!!!!! WE WANTWEALE!!!!! WE WANTWEALE!!!!! WE WANTWEALE!!!!! :chant:

YEESH!

he shouldn't need to earn it , IMO you should back anyone who pulls on a leicester shirt and play for us.

2 games he's only actually conceded one goal, not bad.

Obviously you would only be happy if he had a complete clean sheet every game he plays.

Every goalkeeper has their weakness, his is that he hasn't played for along time and he hasn't played in the English leagues.

So every keeper that wins in a penalty shootout at a world cup deserves to be called world class?????? are u for real?????

I totally agree that weale should never have been dropped and the chanting was stupid. i feel sorry for weale, top keeper n top bloke!

By definition I would say that is exactly what makes someone world class - you play at the very highest level - Ie. A world cup.

Here's to Ricardo winning us promotion during a penalty shootout in the playoff final.

Mhhh, humble pie...

We get it, you want Weale back in, so do plenty of others. You've managed to make yourself look like even more of a tosser though.

Go play in traffic.

Next thing you tell me you're in the EDL and have never propelled at school because you've been treated unfairly by your parents who split up when you were three and you were unable to cope with the absence of your father ever since which led to drug abuse, clashes with the law and a blatant hatred for everything Portuguese.

It wouldn't surprise me.

I bet Ricardo felt really good when people was chanting Weale! I think Ricardo looks abit dodgy but will see against cardiff what hes like playing a top team. All people will do is make Richardo feeling very nervous and not settled then he will make mistakes i think the fans should just back whos on the pitch and not players on the bench.

Those turning up to games have at least invested time, money and effort into following the team. Keyboard warriors on the other hand..

With the scratch back 4 we have (3 of whom only joined the club last month), it's not unreasonable to expect an experienced keeper to provide more stability to the defence than someone who had previously played precisely ZERO minutes of competitive football during the past 2 seasons. Especially when Weale, whatever his many detractors may proclaim, has earned us many more points than he's cost us.

And in his two appearances to date, Ricardo has done little to dispel the impression of a calamity looming around the corner.

I'm a season ticket holder.

I'd question the earnt more points than he's lost, not sure how anybody can prove that one way or the other though.
