ajthefox Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 Abe over Oakley for sure. Not sure on Vassell/Dyer, probably Vassell. I would like to see Waggy play but it's a problem trying to fit him in since out wide really doesn't suit him.

Play 3-5-2/5-3-2, With vassell and yak man up top, bringing waghorn to replace one or the other
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 Abe for Oakley and Vassell ahead of Dyer. As people have already said Dyer is good as an impact sub and Oakley for Abe towards the end of games isnt that bad either
Trav Le Bleu Posted 23 February 2011 Posted 23 February 2011 Is it any coincidence that the last few games we've not played that well (ok, so we won up until last night, but sometimes fortuitously) and there's been no Abe? His willingness to chase everything presses the opposition and helps our defence. I say bring him back!
topharry123 Posted 23 February 2011 Posted 23 February 2011 Abe for sure, he's had a slight dip in form but started really well so probably still adjusting and fitting into the ever changing team. Vassell for now, i've still not see enough from Dyer. He's a decent player, but he seems largely inconsistent. Vassell started well too, but seems to have tailed off a little the last few games.
cc_star Posted 24 February 2011 Posted 24 February 2011 Another point about Vassell playing, is that it forces Gally to play on the left where he is nowhere near as effective as he is on the right. If Vassell is not good enough to displace the Yak & play down the middle, then it is he who should be benched & not displace someone else who was doing a fine job on the right during the first 50% of our unbeaten run whilst Vassell was injured.
muzzieizzet Posted 24 February 2011 Posted 24 February 2011 Abe over Oakley any day of the week, Vassell in the middle with Dyer coming on for the last 1/3, Vassell looks like he's hungry for football and to prove he still has it in front of the Svenster, I love that about him. Now I'm not saying Dyer hasn't got the hunger but it's not the same. Both Top Players and assets to our mighty Leicester.
ThorpeAstleyFox Posted 24 February 2011 Posted 24 February 2011 Abe over Oakley/Bruma - for me that is a very easy decision. Waghorn/Vassell over Dyer - there's not much in this one but I've always liked Lloyd coming off the bench for the last 15/20 minutes to terrorise tired full-backs. I am rarely impressed when Dyer starts a game but normally notice his impact on a game when he is brought on. After his last two appearances from the bench I'd be willing to give Waghorn a start - he has added some much needed competetiveness to our front line which has been lacking of late. Finally, Weale over Ricardo - I bought in to Sven's plan of giving Ricardo a couple of games whilst Weale was in good form but would like to see the 'keeper who is in good form return to the starting 11 now

hackneyfox Posted 24 February 2011 Posted 24 February 2011 Someone wants to drop the Yak and also play Dyer on the left. Dyer can't cross a ball to save his life, hence he gets played on the right so he can cut in and then miss.
Babylon Posted 24 February 2011 Posted 24 February 2011 Another point about Vassell playing, is that it forces Gally to play on the left where he is nowhere near as effective as he is on the right. The same Gally who has been winning rave reviews on these boards whilst playing on the left... up until the last two games? Dyer can't cross a ball to save his life, hence he gets played on the right so he can cut in and then miss.

artursteppe Posted 24 February 2011 Posted 24 February 2011 There are lots of choices, why as holding midfield Abe/Oakley/Bruma? Why not Bamba, who had a successful season in that position with Hibs? Then play Bruma in his more comfortable position of centre half with Mee. Why Dyer or Vassell? I think we would all like to see Vassel, and then later in a game Waghorn playing off Yakubu down the middle. Why not play Abe, Bruma, and Bamba, and leave out Dyer and Gallagher. There seems to be a lot of validity in playing a 3-5-2 formation. Both our full backs seem to me to be classic wing back potential - what would be wrong with Ricardo- Naughton Bruma, Bamba, Mee, Van Aanholt - Abe, King, Wellens - Yakubu, Vassell? Neither Dyer or Gallagher seem to be doing enough to cement their positions in the starting line-up. On the other hand Wellens seems to be going through a weak phase at the moment, so Abe could play in his best position of midfield pivot, both covering in midfield and getting forward, with Bruma or Bamba in the defensive midfield position, that is if Gallagher or Dyer are worth more at the moment than Wellens in a 4-4-2 set up. Lots of stuff we could do, but one thing I am sure of, there seems to be an opportunity here for Sven to 'rest' one or two players who seem to have lost their edge at the moment.
ibbosuk Posted 24 February 2011 Posted 24 February 2011 Drop Yak? Good point hidious, I was thinking the same.
hackneyfox Posted 24 February 2011 Posted 24 February 2011 Drop the yak, recall DJ and play the Weale of Steal instead of Mr Flappy.
acooling08 Posted 24 February 2011 Posted 24 February 2011 Drop the yak, recall DJ and play the Weale of Steal instead of Mr Flappy. Do you ever make any serious comments? Anyway, drop PVA and recall Berner. Bring in Weale and Waghorn. We need a better midfielder than Oakley or Abe - neither are good enough.
Haydos Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 Good point hidious, I was thinking the same. New nickname? Almost sounds like it's maybe slightly similar.
blueredswed Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 Drop the yak, recall DJ and play the Weale of Steal instead of Mr Flappy. hacney ( ney is almost nej in swedish mean NO) and us I understand most of your post here is NEJ translate NO. I am sorry if I have steped on your toes but be a little posive! Perhaps we can take a pint when City (Blue) playing City next season City? Of course Man City!
Fox92 Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 Abe over Oakley every week for me. Although Oakley was good at Derby, and the game before against Barnsley, he wasn't good enough against Bristol City. Abe works harder and mops up the play etc. Darius over Dyer every week. Dyer is far too inconsistant to be in any side, never mind a team pushing for promotion as we are. He comes inside to often, therefore giving the full back no option, he hardly tackles and gets stuck in. He does the same old runs down the line head down with final poor delivery. He also makes the wrong choices at times. No wonder he has never made it at the highest level. Vassell on the other hand is a threat, he gets back and stayes on the wing to assist Naughton. Drop the yak, recall DJ and play the Weale of Steal instead of Mr Flappy. Oh yes lets drop our goalscorer. 'Recall DJ'. He didn't want to play for Leicester! Get it in your head man.
