Bugg Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Giggs represented England at lower level. He was born in England wasn't he? So yes. Its not a poor argument, just because you don't agree with it. Well, it is. If you were born in shall we say, South Africa when your parents were on holiday would you feel like you would have to represent South Africa?
Fox92 Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Well, it is. If you were born in shall we say, South Africa when your parents were on holiday would you feel like you would have to represent South Africa? Thats difficult. EDIT: I completely see your point now and am not persuing my argument anymore.
Ambitious Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Well, it is. If you were born in shall we say, South Africa when your parents were on holiday would you feel like you would have to represent South Africa? Yea but it wouldn't happen cos the mother wouldn't be allowed to fly at that stage of a pregnancy...
ScouseFox Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Yea thats fair enough, but thats not the case with Andy King, he is born and bred an English man, he had nothing to do with Wales whatsoever. Oh yeah, I was just pointing out that "play for the country you're born in" argument is a bit flawed because people can be born somewhere but have no affiliation with said country.
m00nie Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Well, it is. If you were born in shall we say, South Africa when your parents were on holiday would you feel like you would have to represent South Africa? if you was born in south africa whilst your parent were on holiday would you be south african.. no it depends on you parents citizenships.. so really its not literally where you are born but your nationality it should be about
Salieri Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Giggs represented England at lower level. He was born in England wasn't he? Erm, no he wasn't.
Ambitious Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Oh yeah, I was just pointing out that "play for the country you're born in" argument is a bit flawed because people can be born somewhere but have no affiliation with said country. But my point is Andy King was born and bred in England and like me at the European Championships in 1996, 2000 and 2004, The World Cups in 1998, 2002 and 2006 would have been supporting England, cheered every time they scored, got upset when they lost, and thought to himself "I'd love to wear that England shirt one day", then later in life gets bad advice from a greedy agent and opts to play for a country he has no allegance or passion for whatsoever just to get a bit of an international bonus in his account.
Fox92 Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Erm, no he wasn't. Erm, yes he was. He was born in Swinton, Greater Manchester and he played for England before Wales.
Ambitious Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 if you was born in south africa whilst your parent were on holiday would you be south african.. no it depends on you parents citizenships.. so really its not literally where you are born but your nationality it should be about Well no if you've lived in England since you were for argument sake one years old, then I can accept that because you've spent the majority of your life in England, this isn't the case with Andy King, he probably never even went to Wales until he started playing for the under 19's.
m00nie Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 He was born in Swinton and he played for England before Wales. he was born in cardiff
Salieri Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Erm, yes he was. He was born in Swinton, Greater Manchester and he played for England before Wales. No, he was born in Cardiff and played for England schoolboys (qualifying due to the fact he was attending an English school). He was never eligible to represent England at any level other than schoolboy.
Fox92 Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 he was born in cardiff Just because Wikipedia says that! He wasn't. In fact, I've just read this: The story of Giggs's career has also been the story of United's rise and in his autobiography the early years of his life were dominated by two men. One caused a stir when he (Alex Ferguson) turned up on the humble Swinton street of Giggs's childhood in a gold Mercedes to sign the teenager for United on his 14th birthday.

He moved there when he was a young lad. Are you being deliberately stupid?
Corky Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Finners, where are you? We all know you love the "Ryan Giggs should've played for England" argument
m00nie Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Just because Wikipedia says that! He wasn't. Fox92 Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Are you being deliberately stupid? Only because you are. Finners, where are you? We all know you love the "Ryan Giggs should've played for England" argument I'm not saying he should have played for England. Who started this argument anyway?
lcfc_jme Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 I'm not saying he should have played for England. Really? Oh right, so because Ryan Giggs was born in England he should represent England? Giggs represented England at lower level. He was born in England wasn't he? So yes. Pull your head out of your arse and stop being an idiot.
Salieri Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Only because you are. I am? In what way exactly? By presenting you with FACTS that prove you've been spouting drivel? Just admit you were wrong, hang your head in shame for a while, then we can all move on.
m00nie Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Only because you are. I'm not saying he should have played for England. Who started this argument anyway? is that your way of holding your hands up and admitting you was wrong??
Bert Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Then either FF is a complete joke or Speed is insane. King isn't starting.
Fox92 Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Really? Pull your head out of your arse and stop being an idiot. "pull you head out of your arse" Thats not technically possible. And I'm the idiot... Just admit you were wrong, hang your head in shame for a while, then we can all move on. is that your way of holding your hands up and admitting you was wrong?? ^ Ok, close the thread. Its all the other posters fault for stating that Andy King was a disgrace for playing for Wales.
Stevosevic Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Erm, yes he was. He was born in Swinton, Greater Manchester and he played for England before Wales. He was born in Wales. End of discussion, its a fact that can't be argued
Fox92 Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 He was born in Wales. End of discussion, its a fact that can't be argued Why? This discussion has concluded and now you have re-opened it, oh cosmic Stevosevic.
m00nie Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 He was born in Wales. End of discussion, its a fact that can't be argued but i read in the biography that alex fergusson visited him at 14 in swinton!!!!!
Fox92 Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 but i read in the biography that alex fergusson visited him at 14 in swinton!!!!! See what you have done Stevosevic!! I was very happy in concluding this pointless argument that was started for no reason.
