buzzy Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Because of course Ricardo was ALWAYS immaculate in the games that he played and had nothing to do with the goals we conceded against Cov or Pompey.. are you one of the fans shouting for weale when ricardo was in goal. shame on you . are you related to weale because you cannot defend that goalkeeping last night
darko2k7 Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Yea that was pretty bad by Weale, But the way some ppl seem to be posting on here that he souly cost us the 2 points is stupid . Fair enough if it had been last minute then yea you can make that bold statement but it wasn't , this is a TEAM GAME and on the night the TEAM did not perform . And if ppl think we are going to find a new keeper that wont make mistakes like this or worse then you are deluding your self, I can not count the amount of times i have seen even some of the best keepers make worse mistakes Now I'm not being a weale bum boy here he made a mistake and should be criticised but not in the over the top way some ppl are . all this the fans calling for weale cost us two points crap . It's just the way football goes players will make mistakes or they will be brilliant we has fans need to start taking it on the chin a bit more. We need to just focus on doing OUR JOB which is getting behind any team that is put out with the badge we all love on there chest and keeping up a positive vibe around the club and success will sort it's self out on the pitch. UP THE CITY
sphericalfox Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Wealey wealey bad. Shame on you Babs, I coined that phrase! Weally bad or Weally lucky?
carterfox90 Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 oh dear what a mistake by weale!!! gets worse the more you see it !! goalkeeping errors this season has cost us dear!!!!!
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 id of scorpio kicked to saved that. SCORPION!!
sphericalfox Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Continuing on the Weale bashing... I was listening to the BBC Radio Laandaan coverage, and on more than one occasion did they use the words 'flapping' and 'fumbled' to describe the attributes of the mighty Weale. Whilst they can't be called 'unbiased' in their commentary, they were not tainted by any Weale vs Ricardo leanings. Now I am not saying that maybe Ricardo would have done any better, but I have been told off in the past about stating that Sven's No.1 priority was a decent keeper but I think we can ALL conclusively join hands together around the bonfire of this season and sing together in perfect harmony that a keeper in indeed is what we want and demand for next season. United in the thought that neither keeper is up to standard. Last nights result wasn't a huge surprise, as Palace played their tactics to perfection. They were probably in no doubt that taking potshots at goal would possibly gain them something out of the game. Unfortunately for us they scored first after we huffed and puffed and didn't make their goalkeeper really work hard. They decided the best way of going about things was to stifle our style of play, stop us from passing and we were quite lucky to score an equaliser. The real disappointment is Sven did what we all wanted. He kept some continuity for it to blow back up in his face. I've asked if this is a very expensive learning curve, and will he be able to have learned enough about his and the team's failings to respond during the off-season? I think he will. But no doubt those who are hanging onto their favourites are bound to get upset. This behaviour I cannot fathom to understand.
B52 Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Absolutely shocking gaff from Weale. Also sitting behind it there was nothing out of the ordinary about it, it should have been a routine save. If looks could kill then Weale would be in bother because the look Oakley was giving him straight after was homicidal! After Mee, Oakley and Bamba stared at him in disbelief for what must have been 10 seconds Bamba finally encouraged Weale out of his slump of self pity. Having been thoroughly pissed off with Ricardo giving teams cheap goal head starts this from Weale is the icing on the cake. In the run in goalkeeping gaffs have cost us dear, from both Ricardo and now Weale. Having said that, we were pretty flat before the soft goal went in, we looked half the pace and urgency compared to the weekend. Palarse made it very hard for us, had done their homework and we were not flexible enough to find another way to break them down. What cheap goals? Someone mentioned Marlon Kings goal and that wasn't cheap. King is deadly when he got so much space.
Fox 4 Life Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Terrible goalkeeping and it's not like it's the first time he has been easily beaten from distance, surely we should have closed the player down alot earlier though, he had ages to line his shot up. Oakley's was a great finish.
artursteppe Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Good finish from Oaks, as for their goal; Weale could have saved it, and yeah we need a new permanent keeper, but as we can't do that right now, we have to stick with Weale because at least he can catch the ball (Ricardo) He didn't catch the shot for their goal!!!!
The Doctor Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Good finish from Oaks, as for their goal; Weale could have saved it, and yeah we need a new permanent keeper, but as we can't do that right now, we have to stick with Weale because at least he can catch the ball (Ricardo) yet more bullshit. In case people were too busy booing ricardo to notice what he actually did, ricardo caught a fair proportion of crosses and only punched when sensible to do so, i.e - when catching was the wrong option.
Corky Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Not the best angle on the TV but at the time I thought Weale should've saved it and if it had been Ricardo then "Wealo" would've resounded loud and long around the Way. Good finish from Oakley, on his weaker foot.
Kent Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 I think ideally you'd want a 'none of the above' option' date=' or at least I would anyway. Logan just isn't generally experienced/good enough to play for us, Weale is a fairly consistent keeper but his communication is poor, his long range shot stopping is a bit suspect and his distribution isn't great. Ricardo is poor when coming for long balls & set pieces and a bit of a bomb scare with the ball at his feet however his distribution is arguably the best out of all of our keepers and his experience is huge. The way I see it, they've all got their flaws and I wouldn't be surprised if we have someone different from all three of those between the sticks next year. If that does happen then I can't see them extending Ricardo's contract either unless Weale gets bought by another club (unlikely, but who knows). [/quote'] I rest my case.
acooling08 Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 It's funny how at first it was: Don't criticise Ricardo for his mistakes, get behind him and support him! Those who said that are now saying: Weale you coont, chanting Weull is ridiculous. Doesn't make sense.
acooling08 Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 yet more bullshit. In case people were too busy booing ricardo to notice what he actually did, ricardo caught a fair proportion of crosses and only punched when sensible to do so, i.e - when catching was the wrong option. Now this is bullshit. No one was ever comfortable when Ricardo was in goal and the ball was lumped into the box. What I hated (more than his punching) is that he often came for the ball and missed it. Even Pompey said they targeted Ricardo because he's shit at collecting crosses. In short, all of our keepers are average at best.
Haydos Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 I think I'm done with Weale, this happens too often. I've stuck by him all season and I'll support him while he's in the team but his time is up. Individually, he's cost us too many goals. I know Ricardo doesn't seem to inspire confidence but as far as i'm concerned he's not been at fault for a single goal so far. There are those that will say he was for Coventry's but I think that's an easy excuse. These latest antics from Weale are borderline stupid. The balls come straight at him and he's nowhere, he's not even got a touch on it. Thank fook the season's coming to an end, hopefully we can sort this shit out at the end in the summer.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 What about all the games weales won us points in? Sheff utd away, even on saturday he made 2 very good stops when the game was still in the balance! At home to man city he made a great save in the last min to take it to a replay. How many points has ricardo earnt us?

funkyrobot Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 I think it's fair to say that with such lofty aspirations we need a premier league quality goaly next year presuming we are still in the championship. It would be worth trying to loan given again, don't think the bitter blues will loan him to another premiership so might have a chance with the wages we pay
Simmo86 Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 It's funny how at first it was: Don't criticise Ricardo for his mistakes, get behind him and support him! Those who said that are now saying: Weale you coont, chanting Weull is ridiculous. Doesn't make sense. What mistakes did he make though? Is punching when he could catch it really a mistake? If thats what he's comfortable with then thats fine by me! Weale's just as shit a claiming crosses and corners as Ricardo is and he has cost us 2 maybe 3 goals in 3 games! Ricardo has to play for the rest of the season IMO better shot stopper, better distribution
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Shocking by Weale, looked even worse there than live.
Kitchandro Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Bad mistake by Weale. Our goalkeeping problems can be solved by getting one in the summer, but why are good centre backs and midfielders allowing them space to shoot all the while? Oakley's was a screamer. He had a good game. Van Aanholt is a little pussy, hate him. He's been crap apart from the Burnley game, I don't like his defending, I don't like his passing, I don't like his attitude, I don't like his hair, and I don't like his play acting either. He can bugger off.

Neither goalkeeper is good enough but I would have Weale ahead of Ricardo any day.
FOXMAN2 Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 Shocking by Weale, looked even worse there than live. I know it was a keeper mistake but what about some flack with only 1 goal against their defence. Come ON what about some blame on our hotshots. Where did they get to for 90 mins?
B52 Posted 13 April 2011 Posted 13 April 2011 It is when it drops to their striker in the box and you concede goals from it, or have to have it cleared off the line by a defender. Neither goalkeeper is good enough but I would have Weale ahead of Ricardo any day. How many goals have we conceded because Ricardo dropped it in the box and their striker scored? You can't talk about balls cleared off the line. It's a way to play and therefor you get more balls cleared off the line instead of goals conceded because the gk stand still on the line and can't do f**k. Three goals conceded by Weale that Ricardo wouldn't conceded. Two long shots and one standstill on the line. There is a strategic reason also to have a gk coming out punching or causing problems. The gk is more protected by the rules and he can also use his arms wich neither of the other players can.
