MC Prussian Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 seriously now, what did beckford do to you? He scored past him too many times.
Guest Col city fan Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 seriously now, what did beckford do to you? Nothing whatsoever. He always seems like a very pleasant chap from what I see. He was just one of the 'thank you'se I mentioned above among a list. I should have added a few thanks to Pearson though. Thanks for signing Marshall, Drinky and Morgan... Three players who I'm sure will be really good captures for the club. Thank you for not signing them at massively inflated transfer fees and ridiculous wages. And thank you for stamping some authority on a squad of players who appeared to be becoming too big for their boots. So... Thank you Nigel and heres to the coming season with hopefully some sense and reason running the football club.
Haydos Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 Thank you Sven!?? Ive heard it all now..... What? Thank you for lumbering us with players we will find it difficult to offload? Thank you for taking a sizeable pay off from the club? Thank you for bringing in Fat Johnno and Balls? Thank you for paying a big transfer fee for Beckford who went on to have an utterly dire first half of the season? Thank you for losing 3-0 to Millwall at home? Thank you for signing Mills for big money and making him the skipper? And finally... Thank you for spending over ten million quid on a squad that have looked hardly better than we had before? Yep... Cheers... The forum becomes ever more funny! Thanks for signing the most promising looking keeper we've had here since Walker. Thanks for signing a hard working striker in Nugent who's chipped in with a fair number of goals and assists. Thanks for making some shrewd free transfers like Nugent and Danns and bringing in Schmeichel for a bargain £1m. Thanks for smashing Derby 4-0. Thanks for helping bring through Schlupp into the first team. Works both ways.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 Thanks Sven for spending lots of money on a poor mid-table team, yeah thanks alot..

Haydos Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 Thanks Pearson for doing sweet nothing! Back in your pen!

Good post Haydos, when comparing Sven’s signings to Pearson’s its easy to fault the bad signings but the good 1s should be taken into account too. Ultimately the more players a manager signs the more the chance of some bad 1s. Some of the bad 1s could have been good if given half a chance anyway (Gelson Fernandes for example)
Guest Col city fan Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 Thanks Pearson for doing sweet nothing! Shush!
ta-fc Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 IMO the top three players last season were all Sven buys and are alone worth close to ten mil alone: 1. Kasper 2. Nuge 3. Konch Would these three even looked twice at us if SGE wasn't in charge, I doubt it considering the laughing stock Mandaric has made us. If nothing else yes thanks for the above Sven!
ta-fc Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 Danns, Ledge and Pelts aint half bad either... Becks and Bamba TBC!
Danno Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 Thank you Sven for turning us into relegation candidates to promotion hopefulls and for raising our reputation.
cc_star Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 Thanks Sven for... What, really? Even Peter Taylor and Ian Holloway had some highlights you could bullet point to prove a point or two

Danns, Ledge and Pelts aint half bad either... Becks and Bamba TBC! Yes them 3 have been brilliant but lets also look at Pearsons signings, all three have been brilliant, maybe Drinkwater has had a couple of poor games but he is a terrific young player. Probably Nugent would of come here but I don't think the other two would of but would of Sven gone for Drinkwater or even Marshall? I highly doubt it. St ledger didn't even get a chance under Sven and Pearson was the one to make him who he is. Danns aswell was normally a sub under Sven and Pearson has made him who he is. Peltier isn't good at all, shocking defender in my opinion, not a RB at all, more a RM. Bamba has been poor, overrated and I really want him gone. And as for Beckford, well what did he do under Sven? Nothing. He refused to chase the balls if they were in places he didn't want them to be, West Ham away he even was boo'd off the pitch by some fans and he deserved it, whereas when Pearson came he wasn't having none of that and made Beckford work, got some of the best out of him in most games, but with Waghorn back and also Vassell (if he signs a new deal) Beckford will have to graft alot more if we keep him or he will be sitting on the bench as a back-up, we need 2 strikers that graft, such as Waghorn, Vassell, Nugent and also Schlupp. Sven signed good individuals but as a team they were poor, we had good games under Sven such as Derby and also Southampton at home, but in the southampton game when we sat back I thought we was lucky. Pearson has got most of the best out of our players. But from the time Sven was here what have we got to thanks for? Spending ridiculous amounts of money?
ta-fc Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 Massive Pearson fan hey? I could tell from the stock response! The point I was trying to make which has obviously passed you by is that: I DON'T THINK THE QUALITY OF PLAYERS LIKE NUGE, KASPER ETC WOULD HAVE COME WITHOUT SVENS INFLUENCE AFTER THE MANDARIC DEBACLE! What in jeebus' name has Pearson got to do with my comment? I'm fairly sure I couldn't be clearer but if you need it in pictorial form i'll drag the etch-a-sketch out the loft and give it a go! Yes them 3 have been brilliant but lets also look at Pearsons signings, all three have been brilliant, maybe Drinkwater has had a couple of poor games but he is a terrific young player. Charl91 Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 Yes them 3 have been brilliant but lets also look at Pearsons signings, all three have been brilliant Brilliant is a slight exaggeration. Morgan has let past a lot of goals when he's paired with SSL, and I still preferred the Mills/Bamba pairing. Marshall has been fairly good, and Drinkwater has been average

Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 Nothing to thank him for IMO. Then your deluded.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 Then your deluded. How is he?, as a bunch of individuals we've got some great players on paper, but as a team he's took us backwards.
Danno Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 Nothing to thank him for IMO. Apart from us turning into promotion hopefulls in the same season as being bottom of the league for the first 10 or so games... Yeah absolutely nothing to thank him for.
Guest MattP Posted 30 April 2012 Posted 30 April 2012 The only people who should be thanking Sven are the Reading fans, he funded the building of their championship winning team. He took us from a mid table quality side (we were never relegation candidates despite the start under Sousa) to a mid table quality side on about 50 times the expense. His fiscal policy was out of control and will probably have serious ramifications on our future.

Yeah absolutely nothing to thank him for. But he turned us into promotion hopefuls with the team that was already here and barely any real additions, when it got to January, February and his players were brought in we faded off and the inconsistency arrived. He then disassembled the squad even more and spent far too much for players that haven't worked out together, and we know how this seasons gone.

It was a playoff achieving squad, sure they'd been mis-trained by Sousa, but practically anyone could have come in and got it up to mid-table where we finished... add to that the millions spent in wages & loan fees, it was a huge disappointment, although mitigated by the clown who was in charge at the beginning of the season I'm not sure there was a whole lot to be thankful for, he was paid a £3m two year contract & he failed, beyond some attractive football for 3 or 4 games last season.
