Yes, but if a new topic is created then some people moan about not using an existing topic.

Yes I know but some people are commenting as if the OP was praising Sven after all this seasons signings he could possible have a different view now.

i think you have that the wrong way around. by the time sven was here, sousa had screwed up the team royally hence bottom 3, plus we didn't have the loan players we had when nfp got us to the play-offs. it is disengenuous to imply sven inherited a top six side. nfp inherited the players sven signed, nfp did virtually nothing in the jan xfer window. i think they knew this season was a bust. all we can hope for is a good clear out now, and 3 months to build for next season.

There's a difference, Pearson came to a poorly formed team, Sven came to a team who still had the players that got to the play offs, not to mention the amount of loans he made

It's not utter garbage it's just a fact Sven has done nothing good for us and that's why he got the sack and left with a good sum of money.

Sven came to a good team that got to the play-offs, Pearson has came to a poor team and has not been aloud to make his own team.

Your digging yourself into a bigger hole, just stop now.

Sven picked up a team sitting rock bottom of the Leauge with a goal difference of around -20. We had just conceded 6 at Portsmouth and 4 at Norwich. It was a poor squad hence why Neilson is now in the SPL, Kermorgant, Nguessan, Weale have all dropped down to leagues 1 & 2.

Pearson picked up a squad most managers in the Leauge could only dream of. We were 3 points off the play offs, had already beaten Southampton, Brighton, Derby. Under Pearson we went backwards but I'm willing to give him time.

But back to your point it makes no sense.

I'm sorry but saying Sven has done nothing for is is stupid. He signed kasper, konchesky, ssl, vassell, beckford, danns and nugent all of who would be welcomed into championship squads and form the back bone of our squad.

Sven was also the man who brought schlupp through and also set the ball rolling for Liam Moore aswell as getting smith around the first team.

Do you know what he did off the pitch, no so you don't know what he may have set in motion etc.

I'm gonna have to agree you're talking shit really

Of course we were only a few points off the playoffs... Only relatively few games had been played.

For eg.

LCFC are getting 1.5 points per game & team in 6th is getting 2 points per game

After 10 games we'd be 5 points behind 6th

After 30 games we'd be 15 points behind 6th

Whatever the gap was, whether it was 2 points, 20 points whatever, it would grow over time, because that's what happens if you aren't hitting the right points per game that somebody above you is hitting

The debate is whether Sven would turn that around or not?

Personally I don't think he would because:

A table of the last few months of last season we would sit in 15th and for the first few months before his sacking in this season we sat in 14th

This to me indicates that despite 2 quality squads and those many months of match time... he wouldn't have turned it around

However to say Sven did nothing would be wrong, of course he did something... but that something was about half as much as it should have been given the backing he received, which is why he was quickly dispatched with. Sadly that's not the end of the matter as we could still be paying it off for the next 20 years, unless NP gets us a promotion windfall

Your points are all bullshit, your clutching at straws, Weale was a pretty dam good first choice keeper, when Sven took over he had missed the five games before that due to injury, a keeper that many clubs in the league would have wanted. Ricardo, and Kirkland were miles better weren't they? Kermorgant wasn't in the team at all, N'guessan again wasn't in the first team and Neilson was being praised for being one of the better performers at the start of the season.

Pearson took over a team of big names, a bunch of high earners, who clearly were not cutting the mark, and came out and said from day one something needed to be done. Since Pearson also took over we beat Southampton in their own backyard far more comfortably than how we struggled to hold on against Brighton and Southampton at our place. We always beat the big teams it's just what we do! And as far as going backwards, if the league had started in January we would have finished 6th, I don't really know how that's going backwards? But hey if you haven't liked it yet it's going to upset you a lot more when Pearson takes apart this squad that a manager in this league can only dream of and puts together a team of players who we will see far more from next season!

We weren't bottom when Sven joined. Under Chris Powell we beat Scunny 3-1.

I'm far from Pearson's biggest fan, but at least he seems to have a vision for how he wants his team to play and will sign players accordingly. His predecessor did deals with agents left right and centre, regardless of the benefit or otherwise the players involved would bring to the club. The signings of Ball, Pantsil, Johnson and even Fernandes are examples of this.

Add into the mix the panic buys of Beckford and Mills, the pitiful (but fortunately unsuccessful) pursuit of Nicky Maynard, and the attempts to buy certain players off with lucrative long-term contracts, and you had the recipe for guaranteed instability and under-achievement.

I'd be amazed if any other English club ever hires Eriksson again.

Bit of a stupid comment regarding we struggled with Southampton and Brighton at home, because away we were an absolute shambles at Brighton, 2 players sent off too.

I no exactly what Pearson is going to do and I'm all for it because we've been poor this season.

I was originally replying to a stupid post that said Sven has done nothing.  He then came out with Sven inherited a good squad (bottom 3 of the championship, low morale) and Pearson inherited a poor squad.

At the end of the day Sven inherited a poor squad. Yes we had just made the playoffs but in truth it wasn't a great squad. Pearson inherited a good squad second time round. You can argue it was full of egos, individuals etc but on paper it was one of the best in the league and it's the managers job to get them playing and working together.
