Thank you Sven

I enjoyed the football we played under Sven last season, but this one never got started (save for the Derby match).

We're no worse off without him.

Nothing whatsoever. He always seems like a very pleasant chap from what I see. He was just one of the 'thank you'se I mentioned above among a list.

I should have added a few thanks to Pearson though.

Thanks for signing Marshall, Drinky and Morgan... Three players who I'm sure will be really good captures for the club.

Thank you for not signing them at massively inflated transfer fees and ridiculous wages.

And thank you for stamping some authority on a squad of players who appeared to be becoming too big for their boots.

So... Thank you Nigel and heres to the coming season with hopefully some sense and reason running the football club.

Can you provide any evidence to actually confirm everyone Sven signed is on millions a day and every Pearson signing is on minimum wage? Do you have any proof of that at all? Or are you, as you have in your other 4 and a half thousand posts, talking out of your fúcking arse, just making things up to try and prove your point?

Just wondering. If you can find a confirmed set of figures to say what everyone at our club is and has earned, as well as how much they cost including agent fees, bonuses etc then fair play.

Our financials prove the kind of wages we're paying, and submissions to the relevant footballing authorities prove the kind of agents fees we've been handing out under former management policy.

It stands to reason that if we sign people from under the noses of Premier League clubs then we'll not only be offering wage parity to them... but probably more on top, to make up for the fact the player's will be losing out on top flight exposure and spin-off earning opportunities that come with that.

Are you seriously trying to suggest that signing players like Marshall & Drinky loaned out to SheffWed & Barnsley compares with the like of Paintsil etc?

All I'm saying is yes, it's obvious that we have paid big wages because we can, currently.

I was just wondering how Col City Fan was so sure that everyone Pearson has signed had been done so cheaply and efficiently.

Just read the accounts. It's not hard to work out the sort of wages we are/were paying out.

Thanking Sven in the sense that he brought some very good footballers at a reasonable price (Nugent, Kasper, Konchesky, Danns)

And thanks for leaving to allow a real manager with championship experience to get the best out of these players.

Yeah, like I said that's obvious. Which was my point. Col City Fan seemed to suggest Pearson the Messiah had come in and operated on a shoestring budget signing players for pennies and paying them even less to make up for the disastrous overspending from Sven.

I was just wondering where he got the info that Pearson has not signed anyone on big wages or for decent fees. All I can see is things like signing Morgan for £1m despite having less than 6 months on his contract (I think I read that) and he's Forest through and through so has clearly come for a big pay cheque... Obviously Sven messed up and spent millions we shouldn't have spent and didn't really get us anywhere, but Pearson has come in, also spent a bit for January transfers and got us, err, nowhere.

We'll see what he does in the summer.

Apart from us turning into promotion hopefulls in the same season as being bottom of the league for the first 10 or so games... Yeah absolutely nothing to thank him for.

Yes but did he get us promoted? No, he did fvck all for us.

Sven was totally inept. I felt that last season there was some genuinely good performances (Derby away) but this season was a cock-up. He was given an open chequebook and was reckless. It was clear, to me at least, that he thought player collecting would win us promotion.

This season he was tactically poor. Perhaps controversially I would pick out the Southampton home match to show how poor he was. Anyone who was at that game would admit we would have to consider ourselves lucky to get 1 point let alone the 3. We were 3-1 up at home and he completely changed the shape and invited on the pressure. Poor beyond belief. Let alone the number of incredibly poor away displays like Birmingham away... I've not seen a team hit so many sideways balls before. It all looks nice and neat but was so ineffective!

Thankfully the change of manager came. I am not normally one who would advocate the chopping and changing of managers but this was clearly needed. Now we have NP who I personally believe has the greater tools to facilitate us a promotion.

What do we have to thank Sven for? Well he brought the club a lot of attention. Even brought in one or two good players.

What do we have to be unthankful to Sven for? Potentially financially crippling the club. Clearly had no economic prowess about him to understand the negative effects of creating a reckless wage structure. This season he brought us tactically poor and boring football. He ruined our chances of promotion in a season where the quality of the Championship was low.

So thanks Sven. Thanks for basically nothing.

Of course I don't have the financial info I'm not the company's accountant..

But do you really believe that Marshall and Drinkwater are earning the same as Beckford and Mills?

Come back to me when you've something worth reading.

Which 'real' manager would that be then? not NFP for sure.

You come out with utter garbage.

Pearson took over mid season just like Sven did. Did Pearson get us promoted no? So since his return surely that means Pearson has done fvck all too?

Surely you have to wait until a couple of months into next season before judging that?

Does not buying reserve team players on 5 figure wages cut it then?

I'm not saying nothing.

Look at what LCFC_Fan_1995 fan put.

Somebody said Sven took us from bottom of the Leauge to play off contenders. And he relied 'but did he didn't get us promoted. He did fvck all.

So based on his theory, Pearson has done fvck all too. I'll save my judgement til next season.

I agree with you Col.. you can even add Morgan to that list. Pearson is the type of manager not to overpay players (take Billy Sharp as an example), where as that's what Sven did/does. I cannot imagine, in fact I am 99% sure, young and hungry players like Marshall and Drinkwater will not be on that much money, and definetly not on as much as Mills, Beckford and even Pantsil and Ball (when they were here).

Pearson rebuilt Hull and got rid of the overpaid players, such as Bullard. He will do it at Leicester, again.

I'm amazed anyone can describe a team as "play off contenders" whilst under his reign we never hit the top 6 lol

Yes, but if a new topic is created then some people moan about not using an existing topic.

I bet you were saying we were play off contendors when Waghorn smashed that last minute goal against Bristol to take us 8 unbeaten. ;)

Nope, never described us as such.

There's a difference, Pearson came to a poorly formed team, Sven came to a team who still had the players that got to the play offs, not to mention the amount of loans he made

It's not utter garbage it's just a fact Sven has done nothing good for us and that's why he got the sack and left with a good sum of money.

So based on his theory, Pearson has done fvck all too. I'll save my judgement til next season.

Sven came to a good team that got to the play-offs, Pearson has came to a poor team and has not been aloud to make his own team.

I have at least 3 reasons to thank Sven.

1. Kasper

2. Konchesky

3. Nugent

Sven was a shit manager, but he lived off his past success to draw big names.

know what, I like Sven, not in the bumboy camp or the hate camp, but he's ok by me, I do however have this nagging feeling that even with a preseason and his own team, we will still crush a good team one week then play turdy and lose to a poor team the next. I don't know why, but I do.

Pretty good prediction.
