And I'm not even sorry for hammering Weale on here despite my level of beer consumption. For anybody even attempting to defend that twat, look at the last angle of their 3rd on this video and then explain to me how I can possibly defend that level of ineptitude? I wouldn't mind so much if it was actually a rare mistake, but it isn't. Dreadful.

City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson vowed his side would fight on in the race for the Championship play-offs, despite a damaging defeat to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Eriksson's team are now six points off the top six with three games to play, after goalkeeper Chris Weale's error allowed Paul McKenna to hit a fortunate late winner for City's East Midlands rivals.

The Foxes had twice come from behind against Billy Davies' men, Matt Oakley and Darius Vassell cancelling out goals from Marcus Tudgay and Robert Earnshaw.

But McKenna's fortunate strike sends them into Monday's clash with Watford at the Walkers Stadium needing plenty of results to go their way in the campaign's final fortnight.

"I am afraid it could be (the end of our play-off hopes), we will know that on Monday evening I fear," Eriksson conceded after Friday's game.

"But it is important we finish the season well, whatever happens with the other results. It would be awful for the Club and the fans if we were to give up. We will prepare for the Watford game as if the play-offs are on the table.

"It's not very English to give up - you have fight until the end whatever happens.

"There is frustration in the dressing room at the moment, but the spirit is good and they will be over the result by Monday at three o'clock. We owe the fans that because they were incredible today."

Over 3,000 City supporters saw their side breached three times in the Nottinghamshire sun and Eriksson admitted that the team's defending continues to undermine their impressive displays in possession.

"We can play rather good football, but we're conceding too many goals too easily. The opponents don't need to work very hard to score goals against us and it's happened many times to us this season unfortunately.

"Chris Weale has apologised for his mistake, but sometimes it can be the goalkeeper, sometimes it can be the defenders, sometimes to the midfielders and sometimes the strikers.

"We can create chances and score goals, but if you want to talk about play-offs or promotion in a good league, what we have done is not good enough.

"We should to defend better and we have to defend better, we cannot concede goals as we have done."

You know I've always wondered what it's like when a player apologises for a mistake in the dressing room. Does he he stand up and make some sort of speech?

He should prostrate himself before them and they should urinate on his face

They're going to try a new ball for Chris Weale next game.

Its going to have a bell in it so he knows when it's coming.

Forest's first goal was pure class. There's too much of a blame culture in football in this country. Every single goal seemingly has to be due to a mistake that somebody's made. The cross, run and finish were out of this world.

That said, Weale was entirely responsible for both Forest's 2nd and 3rd goals. The 2nd goal was familiar Weale territory. Ball hit from range barely moves in the air, but Weale dived past the ball, meaning he couldn't push it round the post, but only back out to Earnshaw.

Enough has been said about the 3rd goal. Shortly after it went in, Weale caught the ball and just hoofed it 60 yards downfield, straight out of play.

Weale seems like a decent bloke, and he's clearly a semi-competent Championship/good League 1 keeper. But if we're going places we need to buy somebody dependable and with decent distribution. Interestingly, Ricardo is the closest thing we have to that. I wouldn't mind betting that with a full pre-season behind him, he'll be better on crosses.

On a separate note, the Thais need to hold their nerve with Eriksson. It would be easy for them to say "we've spunked all this money on players and we're barely in the top half, get lost", but we are not going to get a better manager.

I think that with a full pre-season behind us, we'll dominate this league. But the Thais don't have a bottomless pit of money. We need to succeed next season or we could be in a world of trouble. King, Gallagher and Wellens are all tied down to medium/long term contracts, so if the Thais pull out things could get depressingly interesting.

Great support, great atmosphere. Weale howler cost us again, maybe could have done better with their second. Oh well. Let just make these last games ones to remember. Get behind the lads, let's just enjoy the support and atmosphere. There's always next year. I just look on it as next season we get more away games than we would in the prem.

In the summer I think Sven has to buy some people, an get a solid squad. Next season is the season, and I honestly beleive that.

Didn't think forrest were special at all. Just took there chances, no chance in them going up.

And if Blackpool drop, then even better news. Weekender.

Well said.

Second half support til their sickener was pretty solid. Thought the cops and the scum fans were complete wankers after the game.

As for the game itself, like so many others I just do not want to talk about it. Painful.

Good honest analysis, can't disagree with any of it. Their first goal was excellent, even if you over-analyse it from the build-up all there was from our point of view was an unlucky deflection off Mee that fell to McGugan before his cross. No blame to throw out there, unlike the second and third goals.

Success is a must next season, but you're spot on to say Sven's P45 won't bring that success. Sacking him now and going for an inexperienced manager who is unemployed because he has failed elsewhere would be madness. I'm talking about you Zola. Di Matteo isn't a bad prospect for the future after his time at WBA but sack Sven for him? Not a gamble I'd be in any way comfortable with, even with his Championship experience.

Yet another defeat to add to a depressingly long list at the hovel.

Did anyone else spot that Earnshaw was offside in the build-up to his goal?

As soon as Sky switched the fixture I knew someone would be in for a crucifixion - that person turned out to be Chris Weale. He had a shocking last 20 minutes and will probably never wear a City shirt again.

But there were others who should also be taking the rap - Bruma the bombscare for example. Remind us what our record is when he's started for us - something like THREE points from a possible 27? Compare and contrast with a certain J. Hobbs at Hull. The lapse of judgement by the mercenary has been costly in more ways than one.

Then there was Yakinbyi up front. One of the worst performances by a City striker I've ever seen - made Carl Cort look like Lineker in his prime. Couldn't hold a ball up, never won a ball in the air, and wasted the one half-chance he had. The sooner he heads back to Everton, the better.

Only Oakley, Vassell and the full-backs can take any credit out of the game yesterday. King was anonymous yet again and if a multi-million bid comes in for him during the summer, Top & co should give it serious thought. He simply isn't consistent enough for a team to be built around him.

This side needs rebuilding in the summer. Whether this manager is the person to oversee that must be in serious doubt.

don't think we have won a single game when Bruma has started, that must say something! the bloke doesn't seem to do anything and it seems to me whoever he plays with be it Bamba or Vitor yesterday it seems that they end up looking like they are defending on their own. Why Vitor hasn't played more for us I really can't work out

oh and forest fans are absolute retards: "she said no sven, she said no" - you do realise that "she" didn't say no since sven has never had a rape scandal, just scandals about his sheer seductive power.

Yeh Leicester fans never sing any potentially offensive and factually incorrect chants

Bloody well summed up our season that match. Poor marking for the first goal, good play going forward and dreadful errors at the back.

We shouldn't have lost it but we did, awful mistake by Weale, inexcuseable.

Oakley's goal was great, and we responded really positively to conceding on both occasions.

Seasn over now, but I still want three good performances to end. What a way to lose.

I love our fans. It's not enough to be down in the dumps all the time, they have to rub off on everyone else as well. "Hope? We laugh in your face!"
