Kitchandro Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 I don't think we are blaming them for our poor form (well I'm not) but just the influencing part. I love listening to Stringer and Young when I don't attend a match, you know, some of Stringer's sayings are fantastic 'Matty Fryatt scores 3, somebody give that boy a biscuit' I seem to remember . But, they can influence fans. For example, Stringer loves Weale, and he used to bang on about Weale starting ahead of Ricardo which is fairly biased because that could enhance some of the fans to sing for Weale when Ricardo is playing. Yeh I know they do influence fans, my point is that it's only the moronic fans who base their opinions/behaviour on what the commentators say. People should remember that they are only fans like us really, they both want the Club to do well and some players will frustrate them while others will impress them. Like I said they talk a lot of shit and are biased in some ways but I'll take that for the entertainment

Haydos Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 More classic Stringer bias without perspective... Considered #lcfc thoughts. Spine of Brown, Spearing and Fryatt this time last season, replaced by Bruma, Kamara+Yakubu this - progress? I presume it's a backhanded dig at Sven and a call back to Pearson rather than an overview. Therefore no, If we're doing that it would be Bamba, Abe, Yakubu so arguably yes. That's ignoring eveything else that happened with the club between July and October. EDIT: Bias isn't really the right word, more unintelligent though process than bias. He could use the examples of Neilsen, Morrison and Howard replaced by Naughton, Mee and Yakubu.
stivesfox Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 The man stringers twitter is trying to wind people up, and continue a witch hunt on players either he don't rate or give him the time of day! He has failed to Tweet comments on Weales mistake just throw more crap at other players. The team hasn't done as well as last season, granted we have played catch up after a poor start, tell you what Mr Stringer weren't you ban from the training ground last season here's a compariable whilst you were not allowed any interference during pearsons reign then the side perform, now you have to much access and interference you and your cronies have simplied riled the team and made scape goats with hour cheap shots! If I was managing Leicester city mr stringer wouldn't set foot in the car park!

Spine of Brown, Spearing and Fryatt this time last season, replaced by Bruma, Kamara+Yakubu this - progress? If he really wanted to get the fans backs up he should of put Hobbs instead of Brown. Also if he is trying to go against the loan players then he's an idiot for including one in the first 3, but maybe he is just trying to throw us off the scent with that one though.

Stringer pisses me off no end, not because of his bias and what seems to be a lot of anti-sven bullcrap (see the tweet in hadyos' post) but because when i can't make a game i get lumbered with these two to find out what's going on and as such i want to know what's going on in the match, not hear stringer have a 5 minute conversation about hats.
B52 Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 A sport journalist prepares himself with oneliners. Often stolen from legendary commentators from USA. Then I believe players like Weale is more than a good player in Stringers eyes. It's probably the players Stringer has best inside information from. You don't bite the hand thats feed you......... So Weale is probably on of Stringers beloved assets in the club.
B52 Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 By the way, it should be fun to know Stringers identity on this forum, TB and Bentleys. It's a must when he wants to milk a situation.

Haydos Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 Yet more. I'm not usually too fussed by him but this is getting ridiculous. Interesting+fluid #lcfc discussion. Ok, who to 'blame' for the season? Paulo? - who signed Vitor, Abe (well, owners did)+extension King Why not mention Moreno, Kennedy, Crncic, Lamey, 2m for Waggy.

StanSP Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 He's just encouraging debate/conversations. Nothing wrong with that.
Haydos Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 He's just encouraging debate/conversations. Nothing wrong with that. There is when you take such an obvious side. Read the post above and it's obvious that he's being hugely selective in his criticism.
cc_star Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 Surely he's making his position hugely untenable as an alleged impartial commentator for the BBC? This is getting ridiculous... He's not a commentator, he's the pundit. He's not there to be impartial, he is specifically there to give his opinion. unless I've misread something. Although, as I mentioned above, I do think he should be more objective, but truthfully I don't really think a man of such limited vocabulary is suited to broadcasting tbh

He's starting a debate and being responded to... at least stick around for his opinion Finally, wouldn't 'blame' anyone. A decent season. More defensive experience, spirit's already there as are some superb players. Top 2 11/12

The thread has taken a slight deviation.
Haydos Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 He's starting a debate and being responded to... at least stick around for his opinion I did, I'm still here It's alright saying that but his previous couple of tweets don't suggest them seem.
muzzy1981 Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 Can't stand either of them, this has been going on for ages now, I feel a petition to get them out and get some new properly trained unbiased commentators in needs to start!
davieG Posted 25 April 2011 Posted 25 April 2011 He has a different agenda to the fans, his job is to drum up listeners and judging by the way BBC radio Leicester has been restructured they're not looking to attract intelligent debate. Stringer, through his commentaries is just throwing fuel on the fire to get more morons calling into the evening programme where he and the Manager of RL stand or fall job wise based on the number of listeners not on their intelligence level. RL used to aspire to be a local radio version of one of the broadsheets now it seems content to become the radio version of the Sun.
Mack Posted 25 April 2011 Posted 25 April 2011 If BBC Radio Leicester are gauging their success or failure based on the number of listeners then surely someone in charge needs to re-evaluate their role. BBC local radio is a public service, funded by the license fee, and should be judged on the quality of it's service. As for Alan Young, I like him. He's passionate about our club and whilst he and Stringer and not perfect I've heard worse. Look at Andy Townsend or John Champion to name just two working on a much higher level, bloody awful!

They've altered so many programmes dumbing them down in the process and as there are now plans afoot to transmit more national radio programmes on local radio stations quality of service to the local community seems to be the last thing on their minds.

Sounds like another consequence of the Nazi governments 'Big Society'. So big in fact that local radio becomes national radio! BBC radio England a new country wide service run by unpaid volunteers must be just around the corner.

Vestan Pance Posted 25 April 2011 Posted 25 April 2011 All I'll say is Neville Foulger, when he was commentating you genuinely didn't have a clue where the ball was. Sucked up to the club and made a 3-0 defeat sound positive. O.k, so the two this season aren't perfect but they are entertaining. Stringers questioning of players and managers is great to hear after so many years of cosying up.
