ozleicester Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 At the beginning of the season, i quite liked Youngy's comments, he was passionate, seemed reasonable and knowledgeable. Stringer would call on him for the occasional bit of personality and player experience. as the season has progressed he has become a whinging, moaning sycophant. As i left the ground yesterday..crushed, gutted, broken and trying to make my way through a sea of Red, i put the earphones in and try to listen to the considered response from radio leicester, all i get is youngy, tounging Chris Weale and how great it was when we played shit hoofball. Add to that assorted knob jockeys ringing in saying get rid of the highest pedigree manager we have had in the past 30 years (keep in mind, until us MON didnt have a pedigree) after just 9 ****ing months. Youngs match commentary consists of protecting his favourites and slagging off anyone who doesnt seem to fit with his image of kick n run football.
Stevosevic Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 Biast towards a few too many players, as is Stringer. This comes across on the radio, the ****** listen and follow, then you get chants like Weale and Waaaaaaaaaaaaghooooooorn when they are not even playing.
Fox92 Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 Stringer ecspecially expresses his love for certain players, such as Weale and Fryatt (when he was here). I'm pretty sure it's wrong, because their commentry or views can influence fans.
DB11 Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 I genuinely stopped listening to radio commentary because of him. I hate his comments, more specifically the ones about refereeing because he hasn't got a clue.
Kenners Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 *scottish accent* 'Bring the big man on, big Stevie Howard'
Bettsj2 Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 *scottish accent* 'Bring the big man on, big Stevie Howard' Or 'Frankie' as he's started referring to him. It's terrible listening to the commentary. Yakubu doesn't make a run in the first 5 minutes = 90 minutes of Stringer and Young talking about how lazy he is etc Howard comes on for 15 - 20 minutes and does nothing except give away a couple of free kicks (as usual) = 15 - 20 minutes of Stringer and Young talking about how Howard has changed the pattern of the game Ricardo comes and punches a cross = 90 minutes of Stringer and Young talking about foreign keepers not being suited and (and this one is a peach considering yesterday) comments from Stringer (and I quote), 'If you're in the last 10 minutes against Forest and crosses and shots are reigning in, who would you prefer in goal? I know my answer, and it's Chris Weale'. Well done. I'm not saying that they are to blame for our poor turn in form as there are several people including Sven that have to shoulder responsibility, but unfortunately we have a section of fans that really do not have a brain cell between them and tune in to the Monday phone in, week in and week out and listen Stringer and Young bleat on about certain players and there shortcomings. These fans take it as their own opinion, turn up at the ground and project it onto the players. I cannot imagine what it must have felt like to have been a player on the pitch, and having to listen to the crowd boo Ben Mee on his debut, chanting Weale every time Ricardo touched the ball, boo Yakubu when he missed a chance, chant Waghorn continuously when the players on the pitch are working their arses off. It's well known and acknowledged by players at all levels, that if the crowd are partisan and get behind you, it can give you a real lift. I think it's no co-incidence that our poor form co-incides with what's gone on as outlined above. As I said above, many people must take some of the blame for our poor form and they include the players and the management but the fans (more home than away) must also take some blame as we've really done nothing to try and lift the team. At home against Norwich, Portsmouth and Crystal Palace, the silence at times is deafening and the moans and groans even more so.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 They're as bad each other, and their constant criticism of certain players makes for really unbalanced listening.
Kitchandro Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 So they have their own opinions, so what? Next you'll be having a go at them for being biased towards us. It's not their fault the morons that listen to them take everything they say as the gospel. They can be idiots but they're entertaining, I enjoy listening to them and they're a dam site better than the other local commentaries in the East Midlands. Blaming our poor form on the local radio station Mr Savage is that you?
Dames Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 Ian Stringer has always been clueless. Alan Young seems to be just as much so. Wouldn't blame them for the poor form at all but i do blame them in helping form the opinions of some of the lesser intelligent members of our fanbase. Particularly the armchair fans that form all their outlandish opinions solely based on what these 2 goons have said on the radio.. If i'm not going to a game and theres no stream i'll just watch the text on the BBC website. Its a far less tedious experience.
Itsthejoeker Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 Stringer spent 5-10 minutes talking about Gallys new haircut at Scunthorpe
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 He thinks Waghorns the answer to everything. If our defence is poor we need waghorn because you defend from the front. If a striker goes a game without scoring we need to give waghorn a go. If somebody misses a chance Waghorn would of scored it. so biased and has his clear favourites makes him so predictable.
LCFC_ED Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 to be fair, i do think that waggy should get more of a chance especially now that we are out he running effectively. nevertheless, i am not fan of young being on the show each game. whenever i ave listened, he moans like mad at sol bamba which half the tme isn't warrented. especially as he has had no experience of this league until recently. he doesnt really contribue in a meaningful way and just winds me up.

The same Waggy who is out for the rest of the season?
stivesfox Posted 23 April 2011 Posted 23 April 2011 Young has a hidden agenda his boyfriend Mr Stringer keeps mentioning his Uefa coaching badge hint hint top! As for stringer he has his twitter favourites Mrs Gallagher would you trust Stringer tweeting your Mrs!
cc_star Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 In the main I like Stringer, he's not perfect, but its much better than having a career broadcaster who's just bland & spouts the official club line all the time. I'm not so keen on the lack of objectivity offered by Young though. Also, he's not the most eloquent chap so I don't think broadcasting is for him. Pretty sure many ex-players could do a better job of constructing sentences & doing a more objective job of being the pundit, like Walshie for instance, I enjoy his blog postings and he always speaks well in front of the camera when the local news hunt him down for an opinion. We need an equivalent of Gary Birtles (who's pretty good in all forms of media) for our club, Lineker has obviously risen right to the top, but surely there's a few who could fight our corner whilst being objective
davieG Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 I think Tim Flowers does some 5 live stuff now although I'd sooner have him as the goalkeeping coach.
Webbo Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 I don't mind Youngie, you might not agree with him but he often has something interesting to say. I don't like his shit stirring against certain players though.
cc_star Posted 24 April 2011 Posted 24 April 2011 I think Tim Flowers does some 5 live stuff now although I'd sooner have him as the goalkeeping coach. I'd sooner have him in goal

Blaming our poor form on the local radio station I don't think we are blaming them for our poor form (well I'm not) but just the influencing part. I love listening to Stringer and Young when I don't attend a match, you know, some of Stringer's sayings are fantastic 'Matty Fryatt scores 3, somebody give that boy a biscuit' I seem to remember . But, they can influence fans. For example, Stringer loves Weale, and he used to bang on about Weale starting ahead of Ricardo which is fairly biased because that could enhance some of the fans to sing for Weale when Ricardo is playing.
