Bob Weasel Fox Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 It'll be good for the club and the team and anyone thinking it's a bad idea is looney, but I'm only going if the price is right. i voted yes as its a no brainer but only at sensible prices please city, make it cheap and pack the stadium out
sven-your-smiling Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 bring on the diving spanish t**ts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stevosevic Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 1,000,000 seems like a decent price to me. It will be a sell out, say on average tickets will cost £15 x 32,000 = £480k Plus all the additional money spent at fixtures, food/drink, 10,000+ programmes, merchandise etc... you're looking at a fair price.

Haydos Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 People always forget the extra costs. It's not just £500k profit we'll make. There's policing/stewarding costs/catering etc.
Stevosevic Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 £5.00 seems a better price I doubt it will be that price to be honest, i have been to friendlies at Partick Thistle and St. Johnstone and they charged £20. Never found friendlies to be that cheap, just normal prices.

BlueArmy91 Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 probably sounds stupid and me thinking into it too much, but this could make players want to stay (Naughton, Mee etc), its not asif your gonna be able to play against the worlds greatest players many times
Trav Le Bleu Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 Anyhoo... after all the kerfuful about this... seems it's not actually confirmed?
scatdoctor Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 Judging by the game tonight they will sit back and struggle with our passing game.
Guest Bilo Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 If Pepe plays we'll end up with a busy treatment room.
The MayneFox Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 Obviously a good idea, no one's saying it's a bad idea, you are missing the point of why people are a biit annoyed. But now you mention it I think it's more likely the little kids will become Madird fans for life than Leicester fans. Why would they become Leicester fans if they are only being taken to watch the overpaid stars of Real Madrid? Kids are all the same, they all want to be glory supporters. The only way they'll become Leicester fans is if their parents teach them the values of supporting their home Club and take them to see League matches, buy them Leicester shirts and Leicester videos and other Leicester merchandise. Give them any chance of supporting a massive Club and they'll do just that. Anyway, this isn't the point. The point is our loal radio station (and apparently quite a lot of people on here) regard watching Real Madrid as a massive thing for Leicester fans. I find it a bit wrong that that's the priority for people in this City - seeing Real Madrid is more important than seeing their own Club play a competitive match. It's that principle that I don't agree with, and that is linked to all the kids being lured into glory supporting. It should always be about Leicester, not the opposition. I supported Liverpool in my early days, i had a reason though! my dad was born their he supported them and he went to a European cup final to watch them at wembley. good point im dreading the 30,000 attendence, then the average will be like 24,000 for the rest of the season. hacks me off. although you get a good atmosphere when theirs a bigger gate. I hate the fake leicester fans aswell who think there supportes of the club...Im sorry, did you watch us when we were always in the relagation dog-fights?, in League 1 (oh yes you did the match v Scunthorpe at home)? where you there when Bamba headed the goal v Man City in the first minute (no, but i was watching it on tv) -.- my best mate got me into leicester never regretted it, sorry if i have wasted your time with this rant, looking back it seems pointless. end of my discussion
Heskey2011 Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 CAN.NOT.WAIT! This will be brilliant... looking forward to abusing Ronaldo. Are you Messi in disguise...? NO.
Asha Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 Can't wait to see all the glory boys' faces when they turn up purely to watch Ronaldo and the Real Madrid Youth XI come bounding out of the tunnel.
davieG Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 Rumoured to be costing £1million http://www.cleansheetsallround.co.uk/2011/04/leicester-seal-1m-friendly-with-real-madrid
Haydos Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 You can't deny it's a good thing but you've got to question the value of it. Obviously if it is this sort of price there'll be an agreement to field a strong squad but the revenue it will generate won't come close even if it's a sell out. Could just be an act of generosity and those that dismiss the idea that it's a gift to the fans are somewhat cynical IMO. There are plenty of fans that would kill to see arguably the biggest club in the world take on our team, kids and adults alike, just biggest you don't care it doesn't mean everyone else feels the same. That said, personally I can't help feel this money would be better invested elsewhere and a slightly less glamorous but a lot better value fixture would have been scheduled instead.

I'm not interested in it myself but I think they will have given a lot of thought to the financials and will feel it can be profitable. TV rights especially in Asia, they might even get one of TV Channels here to pick it up could bring in a decent amount.. Of course they'll have to be very careful how they pitch the admission fees and I'm sure they'll make a killing in the shop, new shirt etc. Maybe even sell some RM stuff .
MC Prussian Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 Not too bad, I might even come over for this once the definite date is defined. Stringer or no Stringer, this is massive. Full stadium, hopefully enough Real fans making the trip over, a game broadcast on TV. Potentially more revenue for the club, merchandise sales go up and we get more exposure worldwide.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 28 April 2011 Author Posted 28 April 2011 Spanish fans never travel in the numbers that we in england would expect them to. And thats for their domestic league games! Id be amazed if there were any fans travelling from madrid. Most will be spanish living over here. My old best mate is a Real season ticket holder and im trying to get hold of him to see if he's even heard about the game!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 I've changed my mind on this. If we're paying for them to come here, then that's just embarressing. They can sod right off, mercenaries. When Real Madrid come here cos they want to play the best damn team in the world - that's when I'll sit up and take notice. Oh, and by the way Real Madrid. Barcelona - they're clearly better than you and played us simply for the pleasure of it. So screw you, Los Galacticos!

You're not in anyway happy about this!?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 How can you complain about us playing Real Madrid!? Seriously!? You're not in anyway happy about this!? No football team should pay another to come and play them in a friendly. Even if it was Ebbsfleet United they were going to play. Like I said, Barcelona came for nothing except to play 8 years ago - and last night proved a thing or two about who is the best team in Europe.
Wymsey Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 Still at least there will be now £9 million in the transfer kitty, not £10m.
