The Year Of The Fox Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Brilliant IMO. Beats Oxford away and Sunderland at home. Yeh it'll bring in a few plastic fans, as well as little kids- kids who can be turned and changed to supporting City! Must be done as a thank you to the fans by the oweners, after all, when was the last time we played them??!
Austin Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Good I guess for media interest etc .. Barcelona, Real madrid who the **** you trying to kid!

Ambitious Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Excellent idea all round, be an excellent preparation game for the new season, will bring a lot of money to the club, only problem is we're gonna get hammered, but hey its only a friendly, plus at this moment in time there are 29 places between us, so a win would be asking for a miraculous lot!
zubi Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Obviously it's awesome! But, You'll probably find more Man Utd and Arsenal fans in the stadium that day than City fans
Haydos Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Excellent idea all round, be an excellent preparation game for the new season, will bring a lot of money to the club, only problem is we're gonna get hammered, but hey its only a friendly, plus at this moment in time there are 29 places between us, so a win would be asking for a miraculous lot! We didn't against Barca a few years ago, no reason why we will this time.
zubi Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 How could it be a bad idea? Sergio Ramos could drop the Copa Del Rey on wellens foot and end his career
StanSP Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 I don't know what's worse; Ramos dropping a trophy or Weale dropping another clanger?
ta-fc Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Very pleased about this, few one match wonders turning up couldn't pour cold water on this! Fantastic opportunity for the fans and the club!

The Year Of The Fox Posted 26 April 2011 Author Posted 26 April 2011 We won't get hammered anyway. It'd be a 3-1 defeat at worst! By the way the reason I started the poll was after reading a fair few negative posts
dannythefox Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Good news should give the players a boost for the start of next season.
cc_star Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 I'm sorry, but WTF? Who in their right minds would think Jose's Madrid rocking up at the Walkers is a bad idea?
zubi Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 I think this poll is clever! If anyone does think it's a bad idea they are obviously trolls. Its like a well thought out troll trap! Well done lcfcstu
The Doctor Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 wheres the option for don't care? If ticket prices are reasonable then i'll more than likely go, it's not a bad idea but I don't see how it's a good idea when Madrid will play nothing like what we'll come up against week-in, week-out.
B52 Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Great game, Sven and Jose go head to head and show what will come......... What do you think? Is it two years before we meet them in CL?

Mike the Metal Ed Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 The bigger the better in home game friendlies as it'll get people in and I enjoy seeing how City fare against better teams. Just so long as we get to take in some decent (read: not Mansfield) lower and non-league grounds in the weeks leading up.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 We won't get hammered anyway. It'd be a 3-1 defeat at worst! By the way the reason I started the poll was after reading a fair few negative posts As you can see, everyone think's it's great. The criticism is really against Stringer for labelling it as massive. Stringer needs to stop over egging everything. Every year you'll find clubs of Real's stature looking at playing teams similar to Leicester - we'll give them a decent workout without much threat of a demoralising defeat. Just don't expect Jose to play all his 1st team.
Kitchandro Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Brilliant IMO. Beats Oxford away and Sunderland at home. Yeh it'll bring in a few plastic fans, as well as little kids- kids who can be turned and changed to supporting City! Must be done as a thank you to the fans by the oweners, after all, when was the last time we played them??! Obviously a good idea, no one's saying it's a bad idea, you are missing the point of why people are a biit annoyed. But now you mention it I think it's more likely the little kids will become Madird fans for life than Leicester fans. Why would they become Leicester fans if they are only being taken to watch the overpaid stars of Real Madrid? Kids are all the same, they all want to be glory supporters. The only way they'll become Leicester fans is if their parents teach them the values of supporting their home Club and take them to see League matches, buy them Leicester shirts and Leicester videos and other Leicester merchandise. Give them any chance of supporting a massive Club and they'll do just that. Anyway, this isn't the point. The point is our loal radio station (and apparently quite a lot of people on here) regard watching Real Madrid as a massive thing for Leicester fans. I find it a bit wrong that that's the priority for people in this City - seeing Real Madrid is more important than seeing their own Club play a competitive match. It's that principle that I don't agree with, and that is linked to all the kids being lured into glory supporting. It should always be about Leicester, not the opposition.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 26 April 2011 Author Posted 26 April 2011 Large Al- surely there will be plenty of other games that will be played in preparation? Not bothered how much it'll cost, the chance to see us play them is too good to turn down. The only thing that could've bettered this would have been by having it in Madrid!
superfox1980 Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Gets us in the spotlight once again. Our owners showing the footballing world that we mean business. Big name friendlies, big name sponsors (singha) etc...... can only help to attract a higher standard of player. Its all good as far as I'm concerned !
The Year Of The Fox Posted 26 April 2011 Author Posted 26 April 2011 Kitchandro- what were RL listeners really expecting though? I know stringer bigged it up a bit too much, but its all down to the listeners as to what they make of it, and franky its a bit embarassing reading some of the comments on here, from who I take to be adults- 'please tell me, how am I gonna sleep tonight?' - I dont think that post was written in sarcasm by the way! Not digging at anyone, but you're your own worst enemy if you're going to get yourself hyped up by a bloke who's job it is to attract listeners! I reckon the kids who come as its madrid playing in their hometown, will realise that they can actually watch live football every other week rather than on sky every sunday at 4pm and will start to come down more. Its what we need!
