Alf Bentley Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 If this happens, I'll be interested in the implications for our formation and team selection. It would certainly be a signing (lively, physical, mobile central midfielder) that would make 4-4-2 an option. But Peltier and Masilela are the sort of pacy full backs who could provide the width in a 4-3-3, 4-3-1-2 etc. Either way, Danns, Wellens, King & Abe would be fighting for a maximum of 3 central midfield places (can't see any of them playing wide midfield), with Gallagher either wide attacker or in the hole. We haven't been linked with any wide midfielders, have we, just various strikers and centre backs? So, could be 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2, with 4-4-2 as a tactical option during matches (and Dyer on the bench)? All ungrounded speculation, I know!
Simo86 Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Holy wow, what a defensive line. My proposed team against Real. --------------------Schmeicel-------------------- Peltier-----Danns-----Bamba------Masilela ---------King-------Wellens--------Abe-------- --Nugent------Maynard and/or Yak---Tae Se Danns is a midfielder not a centre back
Liamlcfc1 Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12874_7006849,00.html Skysports.com understands that Leicester City are set to win the race to sign Neil Danns. The 28-year-old midfielder is available on a Bosman transfer as his contract with Crystal Palace is set to expire and he has decided to leave Selhurst Park. A host of clubs have been chasing the former Blackburn and Birmingham man, with both of the Old Firm, Celtic and Rangers, holding talks. Interest in England has been strong with the likes of Bolton, Hull City and Southampton all understood to have made moves for him. But Sven Goran Eriksson looks to have persuaded Danns that his future is best served at the Walkers Stadium. Skysports.com understand that Danns is now due in the East Midlands to undergo a medical ahead of completing a deal with the Championship club.

Andy King has been quoted earlier in the close season that 'rotation' would be the name of the game. I assume he was referring to the midfield issue/dilemma that is evident. Formations will change, and I think Sven has indicated that he prefers a 4-4-2. I should imagine given the final number in the squad and possibly another midfielder being brought in (Danns?) that we will be able to change formation should the need arise etc. This in my view can only be a good thing, as it was one of the reasons we failed to pickup points in certain games last season.

Jon the Hat Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 My god. Who a year ago would have thought we would a year on read an article saying we were winning the race to sign someone ahead of that list. Seriously. This is fun!!!
Guest Mee-9 Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Still don't see how he'll fit into our team. We've got Abe/Oakley who can do the sweeping up role.
Joe. Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Well this is a pleasant surprise, wasn't expecting this. Got to be happy with it, Danns is proven at this level which is exactly what we need.

lcfcsnow Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Still don't see how he'll fit into our team. We've got Abe/Oakley who can do the sweeping up role. Our midfield wasn't good enough last season, and this is an improvement on what we have. Oakley and Wellens aren't good enough for what we want to do next season. King needs to sort his game out too he was awful for the last few months.
MC Prussian Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Still don't see how he'll fit into our team. We've got Abe/Oakley who can do the sweeping up role. I expect to see less and less of Oakley next season.

Candidcamera Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 It looks to be spot on and this is a signing of great significance. Midfield is such a difficult area to buy well.
Tommy G Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 He is big mates with Peltier on twitter it seems, might have swung it aswell. Just a thought. Quality and will only add strength and depth - will keep Wellens and Abe on their toes too which is important, played really well in a cr@p palace team last year so I'd imagine he will progress with us again this season. Up the city
Liamlcfc1 Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Anser to my question sky say Danns will sign RobTannerMerc Rob Tanner@ @liamlcfc All will be revealed soon
Guest Mee-9 Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Looking on Danns' facebook fan page. The comments by rangers fans are making me laugh. Neil, don't even think about coming to Rangers unless your prepared for the best time of your career. If your only interested in a couple of grand extra a week then head off to a wee club in the Championship. But know this, if you do you will be missing out on something special. Get yourself to Ibrox Neil, you will never find more welcoming fans and you'll get to play against some of the best sides in Europe! And if you score against Celtic the fans will love you for ever. PS And if Neil Lemmon offers you a deal then run a mile...no proper Brit would ever play for Celtic!! ^This one made me laugh. That's right Rangers fans, You're that welcoming you sent mail bombs to your rivals manager.
One Arm Babba Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 This a great squad type signing. He will be pushing for a place in the starting line up. Competition is good. I'm sure on another thread it was mentioned that none of the 12 appeared to be midfielders. I tip my hat to the club on this one, we've played it cool and got in front of all the clubs that are doing their business on skysportsnews. Hopefully this will urge people to be patient and trust what we are doing behind the scenes. Who knows? This time next week we may have signed some totally unexpected players.
millzi Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 This is sure to get is in the mood for abit of danns Already posted a few pages back
