Bert Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 He's a better than average player. He's never been in a promoted side bar a squad player for Brum. We have a perfectly good midfield three. If we're going to bring someone in that position, let's make sure they are better than we've already got. Danns ain't that. Fair enough, but he's better than any other midfielder we have that would come in to replace our strongest midfield 3.
ian_marshall Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 I like Danns, but some on here seem to be moaning about him. You sure it wasn't Scannell who played well against us as they look quite similar i.e. both similar hairstyles?? Yeah it was definitely Danns mate, played a blinder. He used his strength well and had our midfield in his pocket. I can remember saying to the chap who sits next to me that he's exactly the type of player our midfield lacks so I'd be delighted if he signed for us. There was a recurring theme this season whereby whenever our midfield came up against a side who were prepared to mix it up a bit and get rough and ready our midfield went missing and we'd simply get over ran. This needs to be addressed in the close season as we end up throwing away easy points against teams we should beat with ease.

Callabinho Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 How can you say we won't sign any of those? There is still a play off final to go before the season officially ends, what did you expect a full new starting 11 in by Monday?
ScouseFox Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Good squad player, wouldn't have him in our midfield three when they're all on form though. Would boost the squad, means we'd have better than Oakley and Moreno as our options.
CosbehFox Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 We need a squad. Although I rate him, I agree he's not going to set the league alight. Apart from the starting 3 we haven't really got any decent options. Fair enough, but he's better than any other midfielder we have that would come in to replace our strongest midfield 3. Do we want to be spending top wages for a squad player? Moussa seemed in decent nick for Donny, we could pick a young lad in on loan again like Pogba or Tuncliffe for Man United or even invest in signing a lad from the lower leagues (Andy Bond from Colly U...missed the boat on Ryan Harley from Exeter). EDIT: Pratley from Swans depending on Monday's result would be a better option.

Whose to say that he'd be on top wages as well (plus he's available on a free)? I do see your point but personally I'd take him.

MGLCFC Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 I've been banging on about Danns for months - he's the combative midfielder we need and he destroyed our so called elite midfield when Palace gained a comendable draw at the Walkers earlier this year. Great energy, strong tackler and pops up with a few goals too. I take him in an instance.
Austin Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 I'd sign him, think he's exactly what we need in midfield. Even if its only back up I'd rather him then Oakley.

It was interesting to see how he got back to help out when they lost the ball too, very strong, and when Wellens plays a poor hollywood pass we struggle to break up the opponents attack, either through lack of pace in the middle, or strength.
Jakemoore Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 We would of course be a step up for him but at the same time you have to wonder who else will come in for him....
CosbehFox Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Pratley will be on much higher wages than Danns surely? But he'd be better than what we currently have. he destroyed our so called elite midfield when Palace gained a comendable draw at the Walkers earlier this year. He didn't. He barely got past the halfway line in a Palace performance with zero ambition. Kept us at bay, yeh. Destroyed, you're having a giraffe.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 But he'd be better than what we currently have. Oh yes mate, without a doubt he would be. BUT, if Swansea get promoted, he'll stay there. If they don't, then I can see a Prem team coming in for him. Plus if we did get him, his transfer fee would probably be a couple of million, whereas Danns would be free.

MGLCFC Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Cardiff Fox - I'll stand by what I said - he stopped our midfield playing and he got forward and had a couple of decent shots - just like Marvin Elliot did for Bristol City, destroying the way our midfield like to play. Wellens was outmuscled, King no threat. Only Oakley looked the part. Our midfield lacks that all energy cobative type of player. Pratley is decent and would also be a great addition - I'd have them both as I think they would both add something to our predictable midfield who can't mix it when the going gets tough.
Narborough_fox Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Pratley is out of contract at the end of the season. Pratley > Danns.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 I can see Pratley going to a prem team. I'll gladly have him here though.
Unabomber Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Bolton have Pratley. I would be very happy with Danns
Ashley Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Bolton have Pratley. I would be very happy with Danns Have they signed him then
bluearmyfox23 Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 i personally would cash in king and play kamara in that position this would be my dream midfield pratley instead of wellens danns instead of yuki and kamara instead of king !!
