Leicester City midfielder Uchechi Daniel will miss the 2012 Olympic qualifier against Tanzania.

Uchechi, who has been in brilliant form for the Dream team V is yet to fully recover from a muscle tear he picked up in Nigeria’s friendly against Costa Rica at the weekend..

“It’s sad considering the fact that we have a qualifier this weekend but that is football for you. We will definitely miss the services of Chima in the game against Tanzania but we have players that can fill the vacuum, Coach Austin Eguavoen told SuperSport.com.

Uchechi, has played in all qualifiers scoring three of the sixteen goals recorded by the team so far. The Dream Team V is expected to depart for Dares-Salam on 3rd June ahead of the June 5th Olympic game qualifier.

saw him play once, looked like a poor mans Ade Akinbiyi.

No idea what he is doing here to be honest and even less of an idea how he got a work permit, I dont know who we are paying off or what favour we owe someone with this one but its looks dodgier than the Crcnic deal.

Sven must be a real muppett - fancy taking someone on loan for four months to have a look at him to see if he is worth pursueing. Should have followed the Martin Alllen / Paulo Sousa route and signed him up straight away. I remember the Leicester faithful signing 'sign him up' when Lamey had one decent game in a friendly - that's why we have Eriksson - he takes a look at players and makes his own mind up - not bowing to the pressures of the know it all fans.

Or the Martin O Neill way and just signing them if you rate them, think he only brought in Izzet on loan he wasnt sure about...

Who on earth was chanting that? Lamey had been released anyway, dont see the comparison?

He doesnt qualifiy for a work permit in any shape or form anyway so could we even sign him if we wanted to? Thats before we get to the absolutely ridiculous question of why we are loaning people from the Nigerian leagues, maybe a relation of the Yak?

I agree with you sometimes its better to take a look, sometimes its just better to back your judgement. Mark Davies and Martin Fulop spring to mind.

I don't mind signing people up if you rate them, but some of the people we have signed up over last 3 years have been woeful.

I think Sven takes a look at players who have been recommended, watches them before offering a contract or not. He even offers short term contracts which is also sensible

I'm not sure Uchechi is still on the books as he was on loan until the end of the season, wasn't he?

No idea, it was a very strange deal. Like I said, more peculiar than the Crcnic one which just looks like a glorifed agent payment by an outgoing board member.

I don't like to judge players on loan spells anyway, too many times over the years I've seen people run their balls off on loan looking for a move/contract and then look like they dont want to be here after its signed and sealed.

He's got himself a work permit because he lived here for at least 5 years, he went to my school in London, he was in my brothers year. My brother always said he was awesome, whether he is good enough or not i don't know...

Apparently he is still with us

Nigeria Under-23 international, Daniel Uchechi has revealed he cannot wait to return to parent club Leicester City after his loan deal to Sheffield Wednesday expires this winter.

Uchechi, who netted two goals at the recent CAF U-23 Championship in Morocco with Nigeria’s Dream Team V, joined English Nationwide team Wednesday at the beginning of the season.

However, the former Flying Eagles star said he has been most frustrated by the long ball tactics at the Nationwide League side.

“I can’t wait to return to Leicester City. I just cannot adapt to the style of play here. It’s the typical English football,” the skilful forward told MTNFootball.com

we loaned him, he never played, the loan was an extended trial and he went back

Played with him at school, only got into the school because he was quality at football. Ridiculously quick and skilful but it's all relative so guess he doesn't have what it takes at this level!
