Haydos Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 CMS Got greedy and Sven dosen't like players who use him for the money, He wants "Hungry" Players.

Kent Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Following on from Stringers "LCFC backed out of CMS deal" tweet someone asked him "do you think it was because someone else became available?" and he replied "i think thats a fair assumption". Hmm... pure speculation of course but exciting nonetheless!

Bert Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 That's a silly assumption. We offered CMS a deal he was set to join, but chose someone else.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 LMFAO SORRY MATE I GET IT NOW Im slow today you see ;L +1
Joe. Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Sounds like pure back-tracking to me too. We lost out, get over it.
Kent Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 That's a silly assumption. We offered CMS a deal he was set to join, but chose someone else. True but it's going on the basis that Stringer has said we "weren't beaten to the punch" which in my eyes means we retracted the offer? I dunno, it's all spoken in riddles. Dunno what you've been told but supposedly we weren't turned down.
sphericalfox Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Does anyone really think that the club won't suggest that they were the ones who pulled out? Surely it's a defensive measure to ensure that other offers that are either out there or to be made in the future won't be affected by suspicion or paranoia by players or their agents. This deal has been played up by the press and P'boro, and now we've got egg on our face, whether it's self-egged or not.

If you check back, you'll see I posted on sunday early afternoon that Sven pulled out of the deal because CMS had come back on saturday with greedy demands. Sven decided to pull the plug on the deal end of. I don't know what the demands where, it may have been extra £'s to sign, it may have been a guaranteed starting spot, who knows. But I do know it was Svens decision and he has moved on, hopefully to some one who will offer even better value for their fee.

Let's look forward to the next target whoever he may be.

Funny enough I remember reading about the Brighton connection prior to Saturday afternoon. Did you decide when the Brighton fans were saying it was pretty much a done deal that Sven pulled the plug, or are you bringing inside information to the table here? It's an important distinction.
ch4mbo Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 I was out on Saturday night with one of the backroom staff, I asked him how training had been and had CMS signed, he said no and the deal is off, Sven thinks he's being too greedy and decided to pull the plug.
Kent Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 That's a silly assumption. We offered CMS a deal he was set to join, but chose someone else. See the CMS thread, Babylon has also backed up the idea that we retracted/rejected the offer. Not trying to piss on your parade or anything, just saying.

Indeed. It's exactly what I've been told by someone who shall remain nameless. Definitely backs up stringer and the backroom staff up town thing.

Hey I'm not arguing these sources, just saying that the standard response from clubs who get snubbed, is precisely the line, 'Player wanted too much. We decided not to have him.' Not saying that is what happened.

I wasn't there, but all I can say is the person who told me is 100% privy to the type of info. As always people can believe what that want and take it all with a pinch of salt.

I am being the advocate of the devil. From the Posh fans who have spoke of him, he was painted as a character who was not this type of footballer. But I live on in Gomorrah and when I venture I out I try not to look back for the turning into salt.
Babylon Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 I am being the advocate of the devil. I'd be doing the same!
thybluefox Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 To me it sounds like we offered what we offered, if he'd have accepted then good times and we'd have been happy to have him. But, if he declined or wanted more cash then it was thanks but no thanks - we've got bigger fish to fry. Svens pursuit of Mills shows that if he wants someone he'll offer what it takes, so can only presume he was a luxury, and not a neccessity.

Signing of the window for me if we can pull it off
