stockyfox Posted 18 June 2011 Posted 18 June 2011 I have it on good authority that in the next few daysLeicester are hoping to sign Nobody. They have been tracking the progress of Nobody for severalmonths and are delighted to discover that Nobody is now available. This is yet another major coup for the Club and it meansthat Useless can now complete his transfer to Oblivion in South American. A spokesperson said the fans can expect Nobody to score 30goals or more this season. Nobody may also feature in the back four and indeed, Nobodymay well prove to be the rock that will ultimately strengthen the Defence. Nobody has also been in goal on occasions but too many goalswere conceded as a result. However, it is probably in midfield that Nobody will shineand the fans will soon recognise that the free transfer of Nobody will turn outto be one of the bargain acquisitions of the season.. As his agent said 'Nobody's perfect'. Nobody is currently at the Walkers undergoing a medical. Nobodyis looking forward to the new season and is really happy about being sent toCoventry on August 6th. ThIs is expected to be the prelude to further severalsignings in the next two or three weeks.
stockyfox Posted 18 June 2011 Author Posted 18 June 2011 How many beers you had squire?? One - Singha Song for City - Hic!
FoxTrott Posted 18 June 2011 Posted 18 June 2011 Can you blame them, to be honest? Saw http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-13790428 in the news today. I definitely wouldn't sign if the city doesn't have satisfactory protection for such an imminent threat.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 18 June 2011 Posted 18 June 2011 Can we start banning these muppets? If you agree say i
Mack Posted 18 June 2011 Posted 18 June 2011 It's frustrating to see rivals signing players etc while we do nothing. I also think many Foxes fans thought there would be some sort of spending jamboree this summer. Personally I prefer controlled intelligent spending on the right men for the job at the right price. If Yakubu et al are only coming if we offer some overblown package for their services then fine, jog on and we will sign players who have something to give the club other than just an empty bank account. Sometimes I wonder if Sven's Achilles heel id the fact he only has the knowledge to look up at the premier league for good players and doesn't know enough about our lower leagues. But one thing I have learnt from the past year is that Sven is a decent man, a real football man, and I trust him to produce a top spot challenging side for the coming season even if at times I cant see the sense in some of his acquisitions.
MC Prussian Posted 18 June 2011 Posted 18 June 2011 Pete, I know you belong to the very impatient bunch, but... Funny? Not really. And not even remotely accurate. Where were you when we signed Anybody under Martin Allen?
Narborough_fox Posted 18 June 2011 Posted 18 June 2011 Ahhh, nobody wants to sign!!!!! W're only 49 days from the new season!!!!! ITS JUNE!!!!!

I am Rod Hull Posted 18 June 2011 Posted 18 June 2011 Judging by the time it was posted, i would imagine that its just a "whisky thread"
stockyfox Posted 18 June 2011 Author Posted 18 June 2011 So to be a little more serious, what made me write that? First and foremost, it was my reaction to West Ham's signing of Kevin Nolan but it was also tempered by an explanation from the Club during an interview the other day as to why nothing has transpired to date but with the promise that there will be significant additions to the squad in the next couple of weeks or so. It is of course frustrating for fans not knowing what is going on behind the scenes and we have to accept that negotiations are best conducted in privacy to avoid being gazumped by some other club. The release of the fixture list yesterday has at least brought it home to some fans that this is not going to be an easy season and just because the bookies have made us joint favourites to be promoted, doesn't mean that we will. We have lost the services of some excellent players and it is essential that they are replaced by players of at least equal if not betterquality. And of course, we are not the only Club on the look-out for these players. But having said that, it is important that the players we get complement each other. We need a 'team' where every player not only plays for each other but plays for Leicester City. Our first match this season is on July 12th, in just 24 days time v IK Sirius with two more games before playing arguably one of the best teams in the world. I pray that this will be a spectacle and not ahumiliation! BUT on August 6th, we need to hit the ground running. It is absolutely essential that we get off to the best possible start. Ideally we want all 15 points in the bag by the end of August – nine or less will be a disappointment. So going back to top of this thread, remember two sayings: 'There's many a true word spoken in jest' and 'The truth often hurts'.

danielbones666 Posted 18 June 2011 Posted 18 June 2011 Latest news is that we tried to aquire Tom Hoegli from Norwegian football club Tromso....but lost him to Club Brugge....jeez

So going back to top of this thread, remember two sayings: 'There's many a true word spoken in jest' and 'The truth often hurts'. As much as I'd love to see us take as many points as possible in the upcoming season, making assumptions about our start or our friendlies' results is all in all just hypothetical. You want at least ten? Blimey, it can only go downhill from there with that attitude. I'd rather start low-key, building up results as we go than to do a Coventry. In essence, you're repeating yourself. Just like you did with the comment about our situation comes December/January. And if you expect a "spectacle" against Real Madrid, then I think you already expect too much. A spectacle it can be, but I doubt Leicester will play a big part in it. Personally, I'm looking forward to a sold-out stadium, a good game, a proper run-out for our partially new squad and that's it. You'll have to judge Sven by the end of the new season - in about a year's time. Until then, take it easy. I can only come up with one of my favourite adages: "Good things come to those who wait."

I think your right i think Sven is out of his depth in this league he doesnt see past the premier league in his signings this is why we are struggling to sign players ! We were told that Sven knew exactly what was needed this season to improve the team so where are the signings i think the he is down to his 4th and 5th choices at best and i fear the worst here. !!
stockyfox Posted 18 June 2011 Author Posted 18 June 2011 Prussian, my dear friend! This may be another occasion when we agree to disagree! If we are to be promoted, then an examination of the opening games during August and September on previous four occasions we achieved that, shows: in 2008/9 (League 1 to CCC), first nine games - Won 7; Drew 1; Lost 1 in 2002/3 (Div 1 to PL), first eleven games - Won 8; Drew 2; Lost 1 in 1995/6 (Div 1 to PL) first ten games - Won 6; Drew 2; Lost 2 in 1993/4 (Div 1 to PL) first nine games - Won 6; Drew1; Lost 2 On that basis, we need to win at least 6 of our first nine games and ideally lose no more than one! And that is NOT going to be a cakewalk!
