Clive Redman Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Unsurprisingly Youngy doesn't go for the Yak... "We need a couple of centre halves and a forward. We definitely need a couple of midfielders too, I’m not saying two to replace the boys we already have, but if we change it in there we need to have someone coming in so we don’t lose the quality we already have. "The guys I’d like to have seen us sign have already been snapped up. Morrison at Millwall would be someone I’d have looked at and Danny Graham from Watford. We need a 25-goal man and it’s so difficult to get someone like that. "Now, there is a young lad at Newcastle that could do us a job; Leon Best. I had him as a nine-year-old when I was at Notts County. He’s a Notts boy and I know him and his family well. With the right handling he is a whole bunch of trouble. Another lad I had there, as a youngster was Will Hoskins who played at Bristol Rovers last year and he scores goals for fun." lcfcsnow Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Good job it isn't upto him then. Will Hoskins over Yakubu...just
AdamN Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 He wants a 25 goal a season striker, so he opts for Leon Best over Yakubu (who we all know he doesn't want)? And no doubt he used all his expert punditry skills to come up with names like Steve Morison and Danny Graham...
marko Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 just when you thought his opinions/knowledge couldn't get any worse he comes out with Leon Best. It must be a wind-up!!!
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Loved Alan Young as a player but his opinions . . . . . . . . ? Everyone knows opinions are like arseholes . . . .everyones got one
accessory Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 just when you thought his opinions/knowledge couldn't get any worse he comes out with Leon Best. It must be a wind-up!!! The same Leon Best who scored a Premier League hat-trick last season? So he can't be entirely talent-free..
RumbleFox Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 I just hope he's being post modern and in reality is laughing at us getting riled by his article because our very grievance is the punch line that his ironic swipe at the modern world was aimed to produce. Like a kind of football based Chris Morris. Either that or he's an absolute twonk. X
marko Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 The same Leon Best who scored a Premier League hat-trick last season? So he can't be entirely talent-free.. Even a blind squirrel will find a nut. With Coventry and Newcastle he's scored 25 in 116 games and most those appearances were in the Championship, so those statistics hardly suggest he's prolific. I honestly can't believe anyone, with the exception of Alan Young, would want either Leon Best or Will Hoskins over Yakubu. Everyone knows Young has some irrational dislike of Yakubu and it severely clouds his thinking.
Babylon Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 The same Leon Best who scored a Premier League hat-trick last season? So he can't be entirely talent-free.. Every player can have a good game now and again.... His record for Cov was about 1 in 5!! The fact he rips Yakubu to bits and then suggests Best is what takes the P a bit.
Babylon Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Leon fookin Best! hehe He's just pimping out his mates, so much for being unbiased.
Guest Col city fan Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 He's just pimping out his mates, so much for being unbiased. I was a massive fan of youngy as a player but he does now seem to be talking out his ass too much for my liking. Akin to walshy, also a legend at the club but don't half come up with some biased claptrap... Whether they don't like Sven very much? Or living in the past? they both now seem to express a very negative view of things IMO.

GianEmmo Zola Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 I'm assuming thats an old interview, Danny Graham signed for Swansea over two weeks ago! No. He said he would have liked us to sign him. It said. 'have already been snapped up' morison and graham.
21st Century Fox Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 No. He said he would have liked us to sign him. It said. 'have already been snapped up' morison and graham. So it does, that makes it an even more relevant and insightful interview.

Hardly irrational given that Youngy watches us home and away, and therefore spotted that the Yak had enough mares to start his own stud farm.
