Hoos the new CEO at Burnley

The American, 50, who becomes the first overseas CEO at Turf Moor, previously held the position at Southampton and Leicester having initially started his time in football in the boardroom at Fulham alongside Mohamed Al Fayed.

Hoos replaces Paul Fletcher, who confirmed late last month his intention to step down after almost four years at the Championship club.

Hoos said: "It's a privilege to be named chief executive of Burnley Football Club and I am absolutely delighted to be joining a club that, in my opinion, is going places.

"Burnley has an excellent board of directors and, as a longstanding admirer, a very, very good manager in Eddie Howe. I know the people - and chairman Barry Kilby in particular - because I have been in football here for a while now and when I heard about the opportunity to work here it was a chance I couldn't pass up. I come here with high hopes and the number one priority has to be to get this club back into the Premier League."

Hoos added: "When I first started in football here at an executive level it was a culture shock and people probably wondered what a 'yank' knew about football. But in the football world I'd like to think I've proved myself. I've worked at three clubs now and gained lots of experience."

I can't see Hull lasting, they were pretty rubbish against us really and they' lost the last two.

I'm glad Birmingham have lost though, they were starting to look really good a few weeks back, maybe the European games are starting to catch up with them.

That's the thing with Birmingham, the eight extra league games will catch up with them.

But they should take the Europa League seriously, they may never get into it again.

I'd never taken Barnsley seriously, but got told this the other day:

Keith Hill's record is amazing. When he became Caretaker manager at Rochdale halfway through the season they were in the relegation places and he got them to 9th. Then he took over full time and got them to the play-offs twice in a row before getting promoted automatically and now has got Barnsley looking like potential play-off contenders.
