Sutty Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 Didn't think the ref was too bad to be honest. The Vassell red card was a definite red card, and Baker's was borderline at best. Thought there were some good battles between your centre backs and Jutkiewicz as well. The reason Murphy wasn't booked is that kicking the ball away can be considered either time wasting or dissent. Clearly at 1-0 down it wasn't time-wasting. I think the ref just showed common sense really.
Tedders Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 Cant argue with the reds but those aside the ref had a shocker! And as for the linesman on the left he had a game as bad as his hairstyle!!!
Joethemightyone Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 The linesman was wearing a wig I swear! The game of football does not need officials!
jordan_lcfc Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 the ref was an absolute t*wat, everything he blew for, mostly for leicester! felt sorry for Sol Bamba, the amount of times his shirt got pulled, and no free kick, that ref needs dorting out!
joel Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 I have 1 word for him to explain how he did today ....... awful
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 the ref had a stinker today, there was at least 2 one on one tussles where just the Leicester player got booked, that was aside from the red cards etc

Most leicester fans think officials have something against leicester hence the thread
somebum Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 You really need to get over this victim mentality mindset you have built up. I have noticed this about you on previous threads.
Fox92 Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 Some of his decisions were below poor. On two seperate occasions he pulled up both Wellens and Fernandes for nothing, well actually for.. winning the ball! We've had him before. As soon as I knew he was referee I wasn't very happy. Actually that was Andre Marriner. The worst thing Marriner did that day was let Ryan Taylor get away with a chest high kung-fu challenge on Waghorn. He gave a throw-in as I recall. I got mixed up...
gazfox9 Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 Having seen the replays of both red cards, I think the ref got them both right. However, thats all he did get right. I thought his performance was well below par of whats expected at this level. Once again, consistency is the key. For all the Cov ****** on here saying Bamba should've been booked for dissent, did they not see the backing in/elbows/shirt pulling in the build up?? funny enough neither did the ref. He certainly isn't the worst ref I've seen, but I hope we don't get him again in the near future.
Ilkeston_Fox Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 Today's referee: Gash, Godawful, inept, shocking, unbelieveable Jeff - par for the course as.... "We always get S#1T refs"
Guest Col city fan Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 Finally, a bit of common sense. Most leicester fans think officials have something against leicester hence the thread i have no idea whether or not refs have anything against City... I very much doubt it... and how on earth can you know why I posted it? I simply posted the thread because I thought today's ref was verging on farcical..no more, no less than that... Ridiculous post...
rico Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 As my mate said earlier, that lino's hair was something straight out of an early 90s boyband. i thought it was a titless bird
marbelladave Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 First half I thought the ref was a regular, everyday 'homer', nothing unusual, just the benefit of the doubt to Coventry virtually every time. Vassell barely touched Keogh but the tackle was simply unacceptable by modern standards. Bakers challenge on Wellens should have been yellow, Wellens made a meal of it but having sent Vassell off the ref thought he had to do the same to Baker. Poor decision. Second half I thought the ref was much better until he started giving yellow cards at random towards the end, poor show overall...
El Sieffsi Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 I don't exaggerate when I say that today's reffing performance is possibly the worst I have ever seen since supporting city. ANY physical contact was met with a sharp blast of the refs whistle. The sendings off should have been yellows... Gallaghers yellow for throwing the ball up in the air was not matched by Joe murphys blatant kicking away of the ball when we got a corner. Is this the face of things to come with referees? Have they been told to reduce the game to a non contact sport? Today's ref was an absolute fookin disgrace and it was clear that he wanted to 'stamp his authority' right from the start. Ok this was a local derby game but the twat completely went over the top. Comments please.... No exaggeration at all!!..the ref WAS shocking..the reds were reds imo,but the amount of times he blew against us for little nudges and stuff that Cov were getting away with was bordering on "favouritism"..was HILARIOUS when Wellens bluffed throwing the ball to their keeper and threw it backwards instead..1 other "official" was uneffingbelievable too..the incompetent moron on the left..wasn't even looking in the right direction on many things..but was when the ball went out for a throw for us by 2ft at least..but no flag!!..yet when Abe controlled the ball on the line on the break..up went the flag. I'm not sure how ref's/linesmen are monitored, but its beyond belief sometimes how these people are allowed anywhere near a football pitch..ah well..rant over, end product was we won..outplayed and outsang em..roll on Saturday!
kingfox Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 Darren Deadman was the ref today I see, we had him down here last season and he was totally awful then. Even me and a friend remembered how bad he was when he came back earlier in the season, a ref which sticks out a mile off. AS BEING SHIT.

Not really, why dont you try and become a ref and see how difficult a job it is? Far easier to criticise than do it yourself...

Totally agree with this...I thought he was far to happy to get his cards out when on the opener of the season it would of been more wise to have a little word with certain players then book them after persistentance. And felt sorry for Gally, he's booking was meaningless and he was hardly even time wasting...
ian_marshall Posted 7 August 2011 Posted 7 August 2011 Not really, why dont you try and become a ref and see how difficult a job it is? Far easier to criticise than do it yourself... That's no excuse now these guys have gone pro and get paid a regular salary for honing there skills. You wouldn't say that if a player regular kept giving the ball away to the opposition in dangerous areas, or on a day to day basis your mechanic missed an important fault on your car. These skills aren't easy, they take time and dedication to perfect, but once you label yourself as a professional in that trade you need to make sure you deliver on a consistent basis otherwise your reputation goes out of the window. If referee's like Deadman are going to apply the rules of the game by the book they need to make sure every decision is consistent, something which did not happen yesterday. Why do you think everyone spoke so highly of Collina? It was because he conducted himself in the right way, was extremely consistent, and most importantly applied common sense.
sphericalfox Posted 7 August 2011 Posted 7 August 2011 Who goes into the career path of a referee with the name 'Deadman'? Shouldn't he more apt to bomb disposal or something?

Marmite Posted 7 August 2011 Posted 7 August 2011 I saw David Nugent in Gala Casino last night in town, I was speaking to him about the standard of championship referees and he agreed they were shocking. He says its so easy to pull the wool over there eyes, he even admitted going down a few times because he knew that he was going to get the free kick. He thought that Vassell should of been sent off but when I asked him if Wellens faked it abit he smiled and said no comment
