orod Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 After investing so much time money and effort, what is the lowest acceptable league position for 2011/12 to be a successful season?
Salieri Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Anything other than 6th or above would equate a failure and probably the end of Svens reign.
Guest Col city fan Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Anything other than 6th or above would equate a failure and probably the end of Svens reign. This...although the expectation is top two
Bausor Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Automatic failing that top six anything other than that is a bad season imo but lets be positive im going for champions
orod Posted 9 August 2011 Author Posted 9 August 2011 I feel that top 4 but keeping within reach of the top two for most of the season will be good progress but yes the expectation is definately top two.
gazfox9 Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 The aim has to be for the top two, with the play offs being some insurance. However, should we not progress through the play offs, I think everyone would have to admit, given the investment throughout the club, the season would have been a failure.
purpleronnie Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th. not a fan of runners up?

I guess in general terms it would, but the players we ahve signed arent exactly big names and as for mills £5 million??, seems crazy to me I just look at our team and theres a fair amount of other clubs whos teamsheets look similar I predict 8th but I think playoffs although it will dissapoint some i feel it would be a great achievement in a very tough league.
Zingari Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 we'll do very well to get in the top six , i think we're in for a fairly unpredictable season while the many changes hopefully settle into an effective unit i hope neither the fans or owners are too impatient
BrummieFOX Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Progress and a successful season are completely different. Progress would be finishing 9th. Success would be promotion. Playoffs would only be seen as acceptable if we won them to the large majority and, I imagine, our owners.
Rincewind Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Top or above. But thats mabe too optimistic Top 2 will do. The difference this season may be the luck factor. First game down to ten men, last season we would have collapsed and lost 3-0 or more. Or after scoring we would concede a late goal. Never happened. Players numbers were leveled and we hung on for the win. Tonight, goal down at our own hands, heads would have dropped but we kept going and it looks like its an easy win eventually. We dont always get our fair share of luck so maybe we should have the bigger percentage this season. I'd like feel confident we can hold on to a 1-0 for 20 min I have to keep growing my nails. Only toes left.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 not a fan of runners up? Such a boring way to go up. Leicester have never laid hands on the Football League Championship trophy, so I'd like to see us win that. Failing that, a trip to Wembley.
tartanowl Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Failing to get in the top 6 this season would be a disaster for you. I think that is the bare minimum you should be aiming for. Similarly we need to do the same in the league below.
Corky Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Top six as minimum. It's the least we should expect given the outlay on the squad.
cc_star Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 7th or below is catastrophic failure Promotion is the expectation though & not achieving it would be failure resulting in changes
ithuriel Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Top two, outside of the play offs would mean a massive failure by Sven.
Tielemans63 Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Top two with the money we've spent. I know people love them but I hate the playoffs and don't want to go through them again.
ajthefox Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 You've asked two different questions imo. Play-offs or above would be acceptable, but for me progress would have to be something more significant. After where we were following the run after new years, we should have finished in the play-offs and although I wasn't too fussed, 10th was a let down. To show progress we have to at least be competing for the top two spots and have a guaranteed play-off spot with a couple of games to go. Scraping into the play-offs in the last week or two would not be showing progress, given what has gone in this summer.
joel Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 If we cheer on the lads like we always do I think we will become champions
