TrueRoyalRFC Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Hi, I'm a reading fan and I just want to get another team's thoughts on championship proceeding's and Leicester are as good a team as any. First off, unlucky about yesterday but I thought your side looked, for all the millions spent, rather average. I'm sure this will not me the case come week 46, but for that money I'd have expected you to threaten more. However I know it takes time to gel a team. So, what are your thoughts this season? How long do you think it will be before your team plays like a team that knows each other? Do you think there are to many big ego's for the side to work as a unit? Where do you think you'll finish? Where do you think Reading will finish? And lastly...thoughts on Matt Mills? Good luck for the season ahead...I look forward to the game at Fortress Madejski!
l444ry Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Reading have a Premiership class manager. If you keep hold of him you'll get play-offs at least.
purpleronnie Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 So, what are your thoughts this season? Its gonna be tough for everyone How long do you think it will be before your team plays like a team that knows each other? No idea Do you think there are to many big ego's for the side to work as a unit? They aren't exactly superstars so no. Where do you think you'll finish? 8th Where do you think Reading will finish? might squeeze in the top 6. And lastly...thoughts on Matt Mills? He (according to reports) started well.

Kent Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 So, what are your thoughts this season? How long do you think it will be before your team plays like a team that knows each other? I think for the first 5 or 6 games we can expect them to not be at full stride although I still think we have the capacity to beat the weaker teams in the league before then Do you think there are to many big ego's for the side to work as a unit? I don't really think so, all the lads they've brought in seem to know eachother or know at least one player from the past, it's not like we're signing massive names like a Man City would either. Where do you think you'll finish? We've got to be aiming for an automatic promotion finish. Sven, the staff and the players all know that so we'll just have to see Where do you think Reading will finish? Despite losing Mills and Long I'd imagine you'd be in the mix for a playoff spot again And lastly...thoughts on Matt Mills? There's no questioning his quality when on form but I think he was too put off by your fans on Saturday to be honest. Quite like Reading as a team and can see you being there or there-abouts again, so good luck!
Salieri Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 mmmmmmmmmmmm.........come here to gloat ????? I could say peace off Not really, seems quite reasonable to me.
Blueasafox Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Not really, seems quite reasonable to me. I couldn't resist it
I am Rod Hull Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Its any 3 from 12 or more who can go up... This is arguably the best championship ever... Its gonna be a BEAST of a season...
TrueRoyalRFC Posted 14 August 2011 Author Posted 14 August 2011 mmmmmmmmmmmm.........come here to gloat ????? I could say peace off Not at all, I've always liked Leicester and lived there for a year so went to see them play a few times (as a neutral of course).
nickm Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 I thought you were weaker than last year matt mills was no better than jack hobbs who we sold to Hull for peanuts we'll both be there or thereabouts our defence was terrified of Kebe, apart from our sol bamba who will be playing top 6 premiership before the end of the season Sven is not the man for us and never has been-his tactics are wrong and he puts up with players who don't give a shit, andy king was beaten to almost every ball, wellens runs around in circles and his precision sideways or backwards passing gives us no hope i'm a Leicester fan who pays his money and has his own opinion there'll be a load of Leicester fans soon who will crawl out of svens arsehole and tell me what a nob i am and how wrong i am-here they come!
Dylan Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 I think you're being quite polite to say they were 'rather average'.... I thought they were absolutely shit! I think the team will need a few weeks to gel... you could tell they weren't a team yesterday. No understanding of each other at all. I think we'll finish in the playoffs, as will you despite losing Shane Long and Matt Mills. Your team is still great with players such as Kebe and McAnuff who are fantastic at this level. Wish we splashed out on Kebe instead. Matt Mills has looked alright in the two games I've seen him, nothing to suggest £5million worth yet though. He puts his body on the line as defenders should... but he attempts the long ball a bit too often in my opinion.
Blueasafox Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Not at all, I've always liked Leicester and lived there for a year so went to see them play a few times (as a neutral of course). I'm still too grumpy to be objectionable
Salieri Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 So, what are your thoughts this season? How long do you think it will be before your team plays like a team that knows each other? I think that depends on whether Sven stops being stubborn and either adapts the formation or signs a couple of wingers to suit the system he's trying to play. At the moment he's trying to shoehorn too many central midfielders into the team. Do you think there are to many big ego's for the side to work as a unit? No, I don't think that's a problem at all. I think the team spirit and unity is pretty good. Where do you think you'll finish? Play Offs Where do you think Reading will finish? If you don't lose anymore big players (like Kebe) then PlayOffs is a realistic shout. And lastly...thoughts on Matt Mills? I think he'll come good and become an important part of our side.

Three questions for you if you don't mind, what did you think of the 'embarasing' half time ent. What did you think of sol bamba. And did you think schmichael was over the top with his moaning? Would be good to get an opposition view on three 'hot' topics on our forum.
Rich Fox Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 We played a daft system against you and that nerds to change. Just one up front We have not spent that much on players most have been free transfers. Think we will get play offs and automatic if we add a striker and decent wingers. Think You will be plat ogre maybe but we made You look good yestetday. Youre support cas very poor yesterday.

We had EIGHT players making their competitive home debuts. It's not surprising that the understanding and cohesion was lacking. Sven's ultra-cautious 4-5-1 starting formation and bizarre decision to drop our top two goalscorers from last season didn't exactly help matters either. If we mange to land an extra striker in the transfer window, we should be settled after 10 games or so and be at least within touching distance of the top 6. The worst-case scenario is that Sven has a Sousa-type run of form and we are bottom after 10 games, in which case Sven's fate is sealed and it's yet another failed season for us. But I hope that the manager can turn things around and that we'll make top 6 at the very least. Can't see you joining us because you're a fair weather side with insufficient squad depth to keep a challenge going over 46 games. Millsy didn't just join us for the money, you know.

Libertine Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Is that we are aiming for I thought is was automatic promotion? We don't have to be there ALL season. Finishing there will do.
Salieri Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Is that we are aiming for I thought is was automatic promotion? He never said it wasn't.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Think Leicester will not play as bad as that at home for the rest of the season (or at least i hope not) as we were garbage Reading are a decent side in this division but i think top 10 would be a good achievement personally Leicester will . . . . . or rather should finish top 6 i hope Good luck for the rest of the season, although you clearly dont need it when you play us at your gaff
Corky Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 I was impressed with Reading, but can you maintain it over a season? You weren't setting the league on fire for the first half of last season, in fact for all our inconsistencies we were above you well into February. Mills was poor yesterday but he's here for the long-term and I'm sure will settle down and become a cult hero type figure.
Adster Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 So, what are your thoughts this season? How long do you think it will be before your team plays like a team that knows each other? My thoughts are that we've bought a lot of championship quality players, not has beens from the Premier League, that know each other well and can play well. Sadly, they need to play together rather than playing as a team of individuals. Give it a few weeks, we've shown we can play well in pre season, Reading seem to be our bogey team, i'll let this one go as a bad day at the office, never again mind. Do you think there are to many big ego's for the side to work as a unit? No, we don't have a team with any big ego's as far as I say, some players might be on more money than other players, but the players have to act professional and I don't think it bothers them to much. The players we've bought in I believe want to do well for this club, you were just simply better. We showed our fight and determination at Coventry. Where do you think you'll finish? I think we'll finish 4th, the table doesn't mean anything yet. There's still a long way to go and I reckon we can pull ourselves together and get a play off spot. Where do you think Reading will finish? 6th. Despite you beating us Saturday, I think we'll come through and finish above you, whilst I still think we'll lose at your home ground. You have a good, good manager who I rate highly, who manages to get the best out of his players. The team spirit, the passion and the players to get you in to the play offs spots. And lastly...thoughts on Matt Mills? Do not judge him after this game, of course he's not going to play as well being boo'd and chanted at constantly. Imagine how he felt, it must of been terrible for him. Bearing that in mind I still expect him to play a good pass, his defending was standard in this game. But i'm confident in him.
accessory Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Is that we are aiming for I thought is was automatic promotion? To clarify, I meant our position after 10 games.
lcfcsmith Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 First, Manset was absolutely terrific yesterday, dominated everyone of our defenders, I didn't expect it from him, I thought he'd be far worse as I've never before seen him play well. As for where w'll finish, top two, if we get a goalscorer, then it'll be as champions. Reading unfortunately don't have any standout proven performers (Manset could become one) but McDermott is a very good man manager and should be able to take you near to the play-offs, if not get you there again.
Salieri Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 To clarify, I meant our position after 10 games. I think 99% of us got it.
