Toffee_Fox Posted 16 August 2011 Posted 16 August 2011 I could understand if Everton were in administration but they've told Arsenal where to go this season for one player, and whilst many teams have lost key players (villa, newcastle, arsenal etc) Everton have kept all their players which makes me think they must be happy with what they have. They wouldn't be able to replace him for £3m so it seems a pointless bid.
cc_star Posted 16 August 2011 Posted 16 August 2011 Shane Long in the Premier League Apps - 51 Goals - 6 Age - 24 (Sold for £7m) Jermaine Beckford in the Premier League Apps - 29 Goals - 10 Age - 26 We quite simply would have to pay a similar fee for that of Long to even get them to consider. Long's premier league appearances generally came from the bench he was a young understudy to Doyle, in recent times he's scored 1 in 1 against MU
Toffee_Fox Posted 16 August 2011 Posted 16 August 2011 Man Utd debt - £716.6m Arsenal debt - £297m Liverpool debt - £261.7m Fulham debt - £164m (Making a profit each year) Aston Villa debt - £72.3m (Making a profit each year) Man City debt - £194m Chelsea debt - £511.4m Sunderland debt - £48.8m (Making a profit each year) Everton debt - £37.7m (Making a profit each year) Don't look financially in shit? just looks like they are spending well same as Sunderland, Villa & Fulham http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/the-debt-league-how-much-do-clubs-owe-1912244.html
21st Century Fox Posted 16 August 2011 Posted 16 August 2011 The whole Beckford interest could be some more tactical bidding by the club to force the hand of others.
Toffee_Fox Posted 16 August 2011 Posted 16 August 2011 Long's premier league appearances generally came from the bench he was a young understudy to Doyle, in recent times he's scored 1 in 1 against MU surely your not basing his fee on that? Beckford has made 14 starts for Everton (the rest off the bench) and scored 10 goals, I'd absolutely love him here but the bid just looks like its an attempt of "well we are doing our best" when we don't think we have a bloody chance, he'd command the fee of Long, if not more. Lets chuck in bids for Odemwingie, Agbonlahor, Adebayor, Defoe etc whilst we're at it.

Mr.Lowe Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/206487/Everton-reject-Jermaine-Beckford-bid/? Lets hope the £3 million bid was just a tester... hope we now go in with a more realistic offer!
Garysbrokentoe Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 talking of jedi mind tricks we should bid for 5 players from quarn and wait for Steve Maclaren to read a paper or check the internet!
MikeyT Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 talking of jedi mind tricks we should bid for 5 players from quarn and wait for Steve Maclaren to read a paper or check the internet! Where?
Bettsy82 Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Why does sven value beckforfd at £2.5m and Maynard at £5m beckford is worth more than Maynard In my opinion.
paddy Agyemang Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 need a striker by saturday for the forest game
wellyfox Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Why does sven value beckforfd at £2.5m and Maynard at £5m beckford is worth more than Maynard In my opinion. But did we really bid 5mill for maynard. Am begging to think not and is all press crap IMO.
Jaspa Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 need a striker by saturday for the forest game I thought we needed a striker for the RM game
Hack Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 From Soccernet today: 09.34 Sky Sports is reporting Jermaine Beckford wants to stay at Everton despite attracting interest from a number of clubs. Leicester were linked with making a bid for the striker on Tuesday.
Simo86 Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Beckford plans Everton stay This doesn't look very likely, not that I thought it did in the first place
Criggers Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Beckford plans Everton stay Unless he is told to move on You never know, if Moyes turns around and says "do us a favour kid, I'm not desperate to keep you, I want the money now the sod off" he might come our way I still don't believe that if Moyes was "prepared to let him go" that there wouldn't be prem clubs going in. Newcastle, Villa, or Bolton are all teams I would expect to look top half and would surely have a place for him at the prices quoted. None of them are full of strikers really.
Cat Burger Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 This story was just absolute weirdness in the first place.
Leigh Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Everton want more money... http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/everton-tell-leicester-bid-beckford-1824111
ronnup Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Everton want more money... http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/everton-tell-leicester-bid-beckford-1824111 If that's true we should snap their arm off getting it done
Guest shearfox Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Everton want more money... http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/everton-tell-leicester-bid-beckford-1824111 3m that would be a steal, source isn't the best
Dicko Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 May as well offer them £10mil, it's irrelevant as he won't come here even if a bid is accepted.
bluearmyfox23 Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 I've heard tht everton want at least 4m cause they are planning a season long loan for Daniel sturridge who will cost 3m
Alexikokopops Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Man Utd debt - £716.6m Arsenal debt - £297m Liverpool debt - £261.7m Fulham debt - £164m (Making a profit each year) Aston Villa debt - £72.3m (Making a profit each year) Man City debt - £194m Chelsea debt - £511.4m Sunderland debt - £48.8m (Making a profit each year) Everton debt - £37.7m (Making a profit each year) Don't look financially in shit? just looks like they are spending well same as Sunderland, Villa & Fulham http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/the-debt-league-how-much-do-clubs-owe-1912244.html It's not just down to the amount of debt, but the how manageable it is. That said, I agree with you that they're not in the deep stuff. They might need to sell to buy, but who are they going to be able to buy for £2.5 million to replace a guy that got them 10 goals last season?
edd Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 I think we will make another bid. However i would much rather have yakubu than beckford. What does everyone else think? Beckford or the yak? http://first4lcfc.blogspot.com/2011/08/everton-rebuff-beckford-bid.html
Bettsy82 Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 I'd be happy to pay £4-5 m for beckford let alone £3m can't see it happening tho. If everton agree a fee with us then I would imagine a load of other clubs would come sniffing. Beckford seems ambitious to me and i think he would choose any prem club over us. Still think we should be chasing more realistic targets. Like I said yesterday our top priority shouldn't be a striker who is gonna score in the championship and prem if we get there. We've got to get there first . David Connolly at saints for example I can see him going on and scoring 20 for them this season. If I'd have suggested that before the season started I would have got a barrage of abuse but he's got 3 in 3 for saints and is brimming with confidence.
