Adster Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 £2m that's insulting, that is a very very very poor offer. Bid more Sven, not rocket science. Well what the bloody hell do you expect? Why go in offering high amounts of money on the first offer? Anyone who does that doesn't deserve to be a businessman at all. Our owners aren't stupid. We went in with a low offer for Kasper, it got accepted - happy days. It might work sometimes, and it does, and if it doesn't, then the club will offer more amount of money. It's worth a try.
whitwickfox Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 beckford is worth 4-5 million no wonder we never sign anyone this is just taking the piss if true
Libertine Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 beckford is worth 4-5 million no wonder we never sign anyone this is just taking the piss if true Yeh, gah, we're well tight this summer.
David Guiza Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Do people not understand how bidding in any form, not just for a football player, works? You're not just going to go straight in with a high offer. Imagine if Everton only wanted 2m and Sven goes straight in with a 5m offer.

FoxyPalace.com Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Mickey take!! 2 million bid rejected, but Moyes admits a reasonable offer may tempt him, http://www.skysports.com/story/0,,11671_7112467,00.html

Beckford is exactly the kind of player we need and would fit in a treat. Realistically a £4 million bid would get Moyes thinking imo.

Pretty sure it will have been 2 million up front, with add ons. It's been said that Moyes' asking price is 3m, so we might not be that far off.

FoxyPalace.com Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Times ticking boys! We must be serious now about our targets and the bids we make or we will end up with nothing. I still think Le Fondre could be a good move, price wise also great, worth the gamble. We are still sniffing around Maynard im sure no matter what Sven says, Fingers crossed something happens soon! Beckford would be great also in my opinion.

Toffee_Fox Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Moyes says even the reported fee of £3m is no-where near their valuation, so we can give up on this as we won't pay up.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 We are fast approaching the deadline, and we all know, that as teams panic buy around then, prices for top players will increase, in most cases, so I can see a couple of signings, on the horizon. I will go for one permanent, followed later, by one loan. Certainly hope so.
Raw Dykes Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 We are fast approaching the deadline, and we all know, that as teams panic buy around then, prices for top players will increase, in most cases, so I can see a couple of signings, on the horizon. I will go for one permanent, followed later, by one loan. Certainly hope so. I'm not sure about most cases. It depends on whether the selling club is genuinely trying to keep hold of the player, or if they just want the best price, or to just try to avoid selling to a rival. I think most players in the last year of their contract will move for less at the end of August. The price of someone like Maynard, who looks certain not to sign a new contract, might well drop like a stone at the end of the window, as Brizzle look to avoid losing him on a free. I agree - one permanent and one loan would be good. There's no need to panic, though - a couple of loans would do us, I think.
whitwickfox Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 i dont understand anyone not thinking beckford is worth around the five million mark, and to go in with £2 million really stinks of "we are really not bothered ". beckford has proved he really can score against some of the best defenders in the world. i would certainly rate him as a £5 million plus player
Guest ttfn Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Beckford's garbage. I'd rather have Vassell up front.
Molson Canadian Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RkoFbWzB00&feature=related I think he's more than capable to play in the championship.
Guest ttfn Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RkoFbWzB00&feature=related I think he's more than capable to play in the championship. For £5 million as some people have said? Pull the other one...
whitwickfox Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 " Beckford's garbage" what drugs are you on.how can you possibly come out with a statement like that.ask the everton fans if he is garbage.........he may not be a messi but he sure isnt garbage !!!
Salieri Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 For £5 million as some people have said? Pull the other one... £5 million would be too steep, granted, but to say he is garbage is, well, garbage.
m00nie Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Beckford's garbage. I'd rather have Vassell up front. premier league club evertons top scorer last season against championship striker who score half as less goals in same season.. makes sense...
gazfox9 Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 I hope we don't sign him, especially for anything like £5 million. An attitude like his would be like having DJ Campbell back.
Guest ttfn Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 A lot of the Everton fans I've spoken to/read think he's a trumped-up Championship striker. Just to clarify, he scored 8 Premier League goals last season. As a reference point, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake scored 7 in less starts for a significantly worse team, has experience of the division and has no discernable attitude problem. Beckford would only be a good signing on a free or for a very low transfer value (there is no way that Everton would have taken a punt on him if he wasn't out of contract). Otherwise i don't see that he offers a significant improvement. We need a striker as soon as possible, but we can't go spunking money on people like this.
