Dickov22 Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 1.) Lloyd Dyer a consistent player under Pearson - hardly had a chance under Sven due to our 4-3-3 formation. I was pleased to see him get a chance against Bristol City, yet this turned to despair when I saw he had been picked on the right side of a three man attack. The man is LEFT FOOTED! His game is all about taking on the full back and whipping a cross in. Anyone who has played the game will know that you feel out of sorts, uncomfortable on the wrong side of the pitch. My despair turned to utter disbelief as Dyer was replaced by Waghorn on the right - AGAIN COMPLETELY LEFT FOOTED! (and to be fair, pretty useless) 2.) Our formation - the problem with 4-3-3 is that we quite obviously lack width! Our full backs have to keep wide which leaves our centre halves exposed. We also have no width going forward. Unless you are Arsenal or Barcelona, pass pass pass through the middle will not create many chances. We wont score many goals trying to thread the ball through the eye of a needle. Its just basics 3.) Signings - how many central midfielders do we need?! Please Sven, pick our best 2 and LET THEM PLAY TOGETHER! Neil Danns is not a right sided midfielder. We have too many similar players, fine not a problem as everyone needs a big squad, but why does Sven insist on chopping and changing the team and trying to squeeze players into the first 11 like Danns playing out of position. It doesn't work. We need a settled side, more width and a new striker. I don't have any faith in Sven. He ruined England, he'll do the same to us. I wouldn't give him a penny of my money to spend. Not optimistic about our chances whilst he is in charge.
Jimmy Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 1) DYER CANNOT CROSS A BALL TO SAVE HIS LIFE HE CAN HOW EVER SHOOT! that's why he got played from the right, he was a regular under Sven when he first got here only losing his place due to injury 2) people weren't saying that last season when we scored shitloads 3) he wants 2 for every position
stillwater Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Dyer is a League 1 player, will only ever be a bit part player in this league.Drifts in and out of the game to much and cannot get round the back of a decent defender. You may be good on Football manager but I doubt you know anywhere near as much as Sven does about managing a football team, If you are such a good manager go do your badges and prove me wrong:)
Dicko Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 I don't have any faith in Sven. He ruined England, he'll do the same to us. I wouldn't give him a penny of my money to spend. Not optimistic about our chances whilst he is in charge. Last week i'd have put this down to simple trolling, but given some of the reactions of our genuine "fans" this week I really don't know anymore! Either way - if you really believe that Sven "ruined England" then you're too fvcking thick to argue with.
Corky Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Dyer actually looked threatening on the right last season.
Dickov22 Posted 19 August 2011 Author Posted 19 August 2011 1) I never remember him being a regular. His cross in the second half wasnt half bad 2) We had a great start last season then petered away into mid table 3) My point wasnt that we have too many players. I want a big squad to cope with injuries and cup games. My point was Sven plays players out of position just to fit them into the team. Look what he did at England - Paul Scholes on the left wing! He soon saw the light and retired.
Dickov22 Posted 19 August 2011 Author Posted 19 August 2011 Taking Theo to the world cup at 17 and only other strikers Heskey Owen and Rooney Playing Beckham regardless of his fitness or form Playing players out of position Making a mockery of friendlies with his substitutions Giving caps to players such as Ricketts, Ball, Gray Great England manager
Dickov22 Posted 19 August 2011 Author Posted 19 August 2011 I would be a useless football manager. But anyone with half a brain can see that we lack width and have made too many changes to the team in the first 4 games

Dickov22 Posted 19 August 2011 Author Posted 19 August 2011 1) He's never been a Sven favourite. Bet any money he is dropped again this weekend. Not his fault 2.) I meant Sven's start, not Sousa and the club's 3.) Paul Scholes retired from England because of Sven

Dickov22 Posted 19 August 2011 Author Posted 19 August 2011 [if you read his autobiography, he was becoming increasingly frustrated with Sven's tactics and being played wide midfield. This is off on a tangent though, my point was how often Sven plays players out of position for us, it is astounding

Howard9 Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 The only real thing wrong with sven IS his formation and tactics. which is a problem, we carnt play nugent all up on his own he needs a partner, personally would love to see vassell play next to nugent.

Not optimistic about our chances whilst he is in charge. 1) Lloyd Dyer isn't good enough to be anywhere near a side with promotion ambitions in this league. He is great at running fast. Unfortunately he is pretty crap at kicking a football. 2) Quite agree about the lack of width. It is a concern. The only alternative I can see with the players we have at the club is a narrow diamond. But obviously that will also lack width and negate any attacking threat. In any case, our lack of width isn't our biggest problem. Our insistence on sitting deep shares that prize with our complete lack of movement going forward. It is Eriksson's job to remedy these ills. If he doesn't then we won't win games and he will pay with his job. 3) Having two players per position is perfectly sensible. Players signing for our club this summer will have been aware of the funds we were spending and aware of Eriksson's intention to build a large squad. Any professional footballer should be prepared to compete for a place in the team and there is no harm in rotating a large pool of players so that they can last the pace of a 46 game season. I agree on playing Danns out of position though. 4) Sven ruined England? Seriously? Perhaps the issue here is you overestimating England's place in world football. England have advanced past the quarter finals of a major tournament only three times in their entire history. Two of those semi final appearances were on home soil, in 1966 and 1996. A quarter final appearance is about par for England. Eriksson achieved this in two World Cups and a European Championship. In the tournament before Eriksson was appointed - Euro 2000 - Kevin Keegan failed to take England past the group stage. In the tournament after he left - Euro 2008 - Steve McClaren's England failed even to qualify for the championships. In England's first post-Eriksson World Cup, last year, Fabio Capello struggled to the second round where his side was convincingly despatched by the first decent team they faced. So let's not go spreading such myths, eh?

I do like Dyer on the right and cutting inside though, he was dangerous in that position last season. But I do agree that our formation is wrong and overall our signings arn't that good, for example, we have many central midfielders, and no wingers.
FosseFox Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Before taking Sven to the cleaners and hammering him for a few dodgy games, cast your mind a few years back. Our manager was Martin Allen. Prior to that was Peter Taylor. To top these off was Poor Old Paulo. Sven is a WORLD CLASS manager at a team who played in League 1 not too long ago. Can you remember a time before the Thai's? This league is not an easy, we have no direct given path to the Prem. Better teams have not been promoted. We need to give it time. Chelsea didn't win much until a few seasons after the Abramovich investment, ditto Man City. As Real Madrid's Galactico's can testify, money doesn't buy you success. Give it more than 3 games, please. Give it till Christmas at least.
Benjaldinho Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 When exactly did he ruin england, was it when he didn't lose a qualifyer in 4 years ir when he reached the world cup semi final??? Honnestly dickov22 do u even know what football is????
FosseFox Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 When exactly did he ruin england, was it when he didn't lose a qualifyer in 4 years ir when he reached the world cup semi final??? Honnestly dickov22 do u even know what football is???? Agreed. To quote directly from Wikipedia (not the greatest source, I know), Eriksson improved England's FIFA World Ranking from 17th place in January 2001 to 5th place in July 2006, reaching 4th during World Cup 2006, and was rated by the FA as England's second most successful Manager after Alf Ramsey. He is the only England manager, other than the short-lived Terry Venables, who has never failed to quide England to the last eight in a major tournament.[8] Under Eriksson, England achieved the highest point percentage in Major Tournament Matches of all time for an England manager,[9] lost only 3 competitive games (excluding extra-time), and achieved top qualifying place in all three International tournaments. Only Brazil matched England's record of reaching the quarter final in tournaments in 2002, 2004 and 2006. Coincidentally, the same manager, Luiz Felipe Scolari, knocked England out of all three of these tournaments, first with Brazil and then twice with Portugal. But hey, what do we know? What's Tony Adams up to? Does John Gregory fancy a stab? Even if we had Mourinho people would say he's too defensive, doesn't play Waggy etc. It's the same with Capello for England. Capello has a largely average international squad but people think Engand should automatically win the WC. Sven has spent a lot of money, but it doesn't mean success.

Prior to that was Peter Taylor. To top these off was Poor Old Paulo. Sven is a WORLD CLASS manager at a team who played in League 1 not too long ago. Can you remember a time before the Thai's? Yeah, when a guy called Nigel Pearson took us into the Championship top six and the playoffs. The likes of Dyer, Hobbs, Weale, Waghorn, Berner and Fryatt were OK then - why weren't they last season? Maybe because Sven's powers of motivation (rarely evident with England) were found wanting.
accessory Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Agreed. The same FA who rated MILTON KEYNES as a more credible World Cup venue than Leicester or Derby, completely ignored Brian Clough's credentials for the manager's job on THREE separate occasions and made a total pig's ear of renovating Wembley. If you think they're a reliable source you have some VERY serious issues.
