Guest MattP Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 Tedious link to say the least!! Lying fcuked I don't think Fergie is in the Market for players who have has one good season in the SPL and Austrian league just yet.....
somebum Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 Very average player, scores plenty on Jock football but who doesn't? Only 25 goals in 70 games for Rapid.
somebum Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 Hi chaps, Just had a quick read through the thread there. The guy is a definite talent and has only just turned 26 so has a lot left in him. He's been a breath of fresh air for us here at Rangers. Everyone's entitled to their opinion and I see a lot of people mocking him just because he plays in the SPL but I think he'd walk straight into most Premier League sides nevermind Championship. With this said, if you did get him I think it'd only be a stepping stone to the PL. Likewise with ourselves but we always knew that anyway. You'd be very lucky boys to be getting him and I'd be sad to see him go. Think he's worth a fair bit more than £6.5mil but I don't think you're too far off the mark of it being accepted. Does he want to play in the Championship? That's something else but you'd be able to offer him better wages so I'd say yes. Oh and yes, Rangers are a big club but we realise we're a poor footballing attraction and not world beaters just for those who think we're deluded due to reading the slightly less talented fan forums of ours. Yours Sincerely, Craig Whyte
Babylon Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 Didn't know much about him to be honest, but I just watched his goals last year for Rangers and his finishing was absolutely top draw. Almost every single goal was seriously well struck, really impressive to be honest. Quality striking of the ball like that would transfer to any league. Obviously what you can't see is how quick he is, what his control is like, how many chances he needs etc. The boy can use his head as well and aint afraid to put his head in where it hurts!!
21st Century Fox Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 Maybe this wasn't such a desperation bid after all. According to the Guardian we've had scouts watching him for a while. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/aug/30/rangers-leicester-bid-nikica-jelavic Rangers have rejected a bid worth £6.5m from Leicester City for Nikica Jelavic. The Croatian striker, who has impressed in Scotland since a £4m move from Rapid Vienna, has been watched over the past year by Leicester scouts. The Midlands club have also consistently monitored another Rangers player, the midfielder Steven Davis. Rangers said: "Rangers Football Club can confirm that they have today rejected a £6.5m bid for striker Nikica Jelavic from English Championship side Leicester City." Subsequent speculation has linked Jelavic with a bid from Russia. Celtic have completed the signing of Mohamed Bangura from AIK Stockholm. Neil Lennon has, though, for now, dropped his interest in Maritimo's forward Baba Diawara.
Babylon Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 6 pages on a rejected bid geez Sorry, shouldn't we discuss it?
21st Century Fox Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 6 pages on a rejected bid geez Yeah you're right we make £6.5 million bids everyday, why should we bother about this one.
Dabizas Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 Yeah you're right we make £6.5 million bids everyday, why should we bother about this one. As it has been rejected, move on
The Doctor Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 As it has been rejected, move on Just because a first bid has been rejected, doesn't mean the deal is dead. It's perfectly plausible that sven has gone back in with an improved offer which hasn't hit the news yet. Until either the player or one of the clubs comes out and says "this deal will not happen" then it's still alive and worth discussion.
21st Century Fox Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 As it has been rejected, move on How many Maynard bids got rejected, yet the saga lives on! I believe it was discussed for 6 pages because it came out of the blue, but lucky we have you around to tell us what we should and shouldn't be discussing. Phew!
Finnegan Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 We should definitely sign a Croat. I don't care who. Any Croat will do.

You are right, apologies, personally thought this was to try and get BCFC to crack as it seems maynard is no1 target!
Narborough_fox Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 We should definitely sign a Croat. I don't care who. Any Croat will do. Luka Modric
Father Ted Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 We should definitely sign a Croat. I don't care who. Any Croat will do. Haha trying to bait me eh...
Finnegan Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 Haha trying to bait me eh... Lies and slander. Surely you'd want us to sign one of your Slavic brethren? What with Radovan (about as Serbian as I am Jamaican) so convinced that you were the natural, sporting elite.
who-izzet Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 Been saying it for ages now but I think we will end up with Yakubu back.. I would have preferred Maynard myself but the Yak will score goals at this level. Very disappointed we didn't get La Fondre. While I don't think he is the answer for the 1st team... He's a great addition, young, hungry, done it for a few seasons now at lower level and would add good competition and we could end up with no one!
noobfc Posted 30 August 2011 Posted 30 August 2011 rangers fan here. jelavic is a class act for 4.1mil we got a bargain. he brings so much to the team he gets alote of assits he is really strong good in the air fast enough great touch. and for people who say oh its the spl look at his goals! and he has a good record in europe not just the spl smashed 3 past celtic in europa for rapid smashed 2 past aston villa hamburg ect he scores in big games his record in europe was why i got excited when we signed him its like a goal a game for rapid. I highly dout we will sell him to you the bidding would start at 10mil once we give him a chance to shine in the champs league his value will rocket. (yes we did shit in europe this season)
Mark Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 SVEN GORAN ERIKSSON will make a sensational £8MILLION swoop for Nikica Jelavic today. The Leicester City gaffer saw a £6.5m bid turned down by Rangers yesterday — but he's refusing to take no for an answer. And Eriksson will test Gers' resolve with a bank-busting move to land the Croat hitman before the transfer window shut. SunSport understands the big-spending Leicester boss has told club owners he needs Jelavic to bolster Foxes' push for promotion. There is Premier League interest from down south — but with clubs believed to be unwilling to go beyond £7m. The £8m fee Leicester are preparing could be difficult for Ibrox owner Craig Whyte to resist. It's DOUBLE the amount they splashed out to sign him at the start of last season. It's believed Jelavic, 26, is NOT against the proposed move. He hoped to play a part in Gers' domestic and European challenge this season. But after Ally McCoist's side crashed out of the Europa League the striker has lost interest in the SPL. His departure would be a massive blow to McCoist's title chances. Despite suffering a bad ankle injury last season he still hit 19 goals. It promises to be a dramatic final day before the transfer window shut at midnight. McCoist is still hopeful of adding players to his squad. Read more: http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/spl/3784792/Eriksson-tees-up-second-Jela-bid.html#comment-rig#ixzz1WYssi4mA
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Who was that other lad that scored goals for fun in the SPL, he only did well in Scotland because it's so shit, though, that's for sure, he'd be gash in any other league.... NOT EVERYONE THAT SCORES GOALS NORTH OF THE BORDER IS OF KENNY MILLER / KRIS BOYD STANDARD.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 **** OFF SVEN, **** OFF JELAVIC Can't think of any obvious reason why you wouldn't want him here

Tevez Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Rangers can't afford to reject a fiver, let alone 6.5 Million.
