acooling08 Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Just out of interest mate, how did you become a LCFC supporter living in Singapore? Ticket prices are normally between £20-£30 but it depends on where you sit at home, and which team it is away.

I started supporting Leicester only during their appearance in the FA cup Final 69/70 season. It had mainly to do with Gordon Banks whom i started to idolise since the 66 world cup It easily have been Man utd....with all them star players.. My all time favourite players are the late George Best, Banks and Pele. Current favourite is Steven Gerrard and also like Liverpool after Leicester.... Cheers! mate

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Didn't Gordon Banks leave Leicester a year or so after the World Cup? Banksy played for us from 1959-1967.
singaporefox Posted 1 September 2011 Author Posted 1 September 2011 Didn't Gordon Banks leave Leicester a year or so after the World Cup? You are right Alex. He left Leicester for Stoke in '67 till '72 I played goalie during my school days and used to emulate him and been a Foxes fan since then Cheers! mate

Trav Le Bleu Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 Apart from football, are you going elsewhere? The country nowadays isn't that good, but the history of the country is amazing. I'm VERY puzzled by this statement. I'm not disagreeing with it per se, but just thought it strange. It's a bit like stating the obvious, few countries have left their imprint on the world like Britain.

Stonehenge, the castles, the abbeys, buck palace, roman forts, battle sites, cotswolds, etc etc

It's a bit like stating the obvious, few countries have left their imprint on the world like Britain. What I meant was quite frankly that which I've highlighted. I was just saying that although the country now isn't very good, look at the history of the places and figures that have emerged from England. Other countries could only dream of the talent we have created, you know, people then seem to me like they were more talented than people now. Look at people such as; Christopher Wren, Isaac Newton, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Winston Churchill, The Beatles, Charles Darwin, William Shakespeare, Lord Nelson, Charles Babbage, etc

Seems pretty much the same to me I guess it depends on how far back you're going.

I just mean like, people don't seem to be as clever or gifted I suppose, as in previous years. Look at those legends I previously wrote down in the initial post, theres nothing like that now. I know technology has significantly developed though.

You aren't comparing apples with apples though, those people were not all recognised as brilliant at a single point in time! They completed a body of work at achievements over a lifetime. Also people these days work internationally if they brilliant. You know the iPod and iPhone were created by an Brit? Dyson? Sir Norman Foster? Stephen Hawking? Are you paying attention?
Houdini Logic Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 I think he means what you can visit here. ie.. Stonehenge, the castles, the abbeys, buck palace, roman forts, battle sites, cotswolds, etc etc And most importantly, all of which can be enjoyed with a nice packet of hubba bubba or juicy fruit.

I think what it is but not always the case, the greatest of people are only appreciated/celebrated when they have gone or even generations later. There are some fine writers, (just as an example) who could stand up for the greats. Not that i'm a fan but JK Rowling has only made what 6/7 books and has probably sold hundreds of millions of books, pretty prolific.
