Trav Le Bleu Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 It's that day of the year when there's no league football cos of internationals and the FA encourage us all to go out and support our (more) local team instead. Will anyone here be going to watch their local team instead? I've been a seen Oadby Town a couple of times and I work with Hinckley United's assistant manager, but I'll be too busy this weekend. Shame. A workmate has asked me to mention that his local team, Shepshed, will be playing Thrapstone at home - so one for those NW Leics foxes to think about. So, anyone taking up the idea?
The Doctor Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 are Oadby Town at home this weekend? About 45 minute walk from home (closer than city actually), might pop in to see how they get on.
Alexikokopops Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 My most local team is Arsenal. They're playing a bit like a non-league team at the moment.
The Doctor Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 Oadby away to Quorn this weekend in FA cup action. Also Coalville at home to Daventry.
Leicesterpool Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 My hometown team Nuneaton Boro are playing Gainsborough this saturday, prices Adults £8, Under 16's £1, Concessions £5. Prices have been reduced by £4.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 I'm in Chapel St. Leonards right now, was planning on going to see Louth v Hallam, but either I misread the fixtures, or it's been moved for the FA Cup. Now I'm going to Grantham Town v Stamford AFC.
Fox You Forest Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 In Blackpool for the weekend or would be at Owen Street fo sho. Daventry knocked out Bardon which would have been a good craic, chance for revenge too.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 Anyone lice near Stevenage? You can get in for a fiver there on Saturday if you are a Prem or Champ season ticket holder. Not non league but still.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 1 September 2011 Author Posted 1 September 2011 I'd just like to point out that I now work with Hinckley United's EX-assistant manager.
Durnerz Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 Not non-league but I will be attending Burton vs Plymouth
General Smuts Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 Anyone lice near Stevenage? You can get in for a fiver there on Saturday if you are a Prem or Champ season ticket holder. Not non league but still. Anyone want to lend me their season ticket. I was going to this match anyway (UP THE BORO!) and didn't know about this.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 Anyone want to lend me their season ticket. I was going to this match anyway (UP THE BORO!) and didn't know about this. You have to have ID with you that matches your name on the ST.
General Smuts Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 You have to have ID with you that matches your name on the ST. I was only joking anyway. I'll possibly be purchasing my Stevenage ST while im there. Funds dependent
Donut Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 My local non league team is Coalville Town, dont watch them as much as i should do really. Always enjoying going to Owen Street. Weve also got Shepshed Dynamo, Quorn and the Loughborough playing in the Evo Stik so its entertaining!
Matt Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 Someone on my facebook, a glory hunting Chelsea fan posted - 'non league day, everyone go and support your local non league team' - erm no thanks I think i'd rather stare at a wall Reply - suppose not going is a lot like not going to watch Chelski.
General Smuts Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 Quality game for my first time at Broadhall Way - 6 goals and 1 disallowed. Boro were top quality and Josh Walker (only played about half hour) from Watford looks a real talent. Nicky Adams is still shit. Still tries really hard but has no final ball, the crossing ability of Max Gradel and the footballing ability of Josh Low.
MC Prussian Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 Went to see my two local teams play. FC yesterday, SV today. Two draws, two rather forgettable games. The food on offer is still world class, though. And nothing beats a local brew.
Raw Dykes Posted 4 September 2011 Posted 4 September 2011 I really should make an effort to go to more non-league football, and I plan to when I have a car again, which shouldn't be too far off now. Shepshed, Loughborough and Coalville are the closest to me, but I think Hinckley are the local team I most want to see - mainly because when I used to play FM, they were the only small Leics. club available to turn into PL giants.
