DJ Barry Hammond Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 Just watched the goal, and ok it's a fair strike but from a coaching point of view it wasn't exactly intelligent play. When he received the ball, he had space to play in, with options that could come available and was a fair distance from goal. He didn't look up once, it wasn't a chip it was essentially a hit and hope and the strike went to the centre of the goal so you would have to ask questions of the goalkeeper there so all in all, well done for scoring Waggy but in future when you're in that position use you pace to drive into the fox and commit the isolated defender.
GianEmmo Zola Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 Whenever a leicester player gets the ball in that position what ever player it the fans shout shoot! Why?! Thats why haha must be why then. Thought it was an idiotic shout tbf. Haha.

Jesus Christ, have a word with yourself. The lad's hit an absolute belter from 35 yards and you're criticising? The team were already in the lead, well on top with the game sewn up, against a poor side and on his debut. You really blame him for having a shot? I didn't. Went to the game tonight and he did well when he came on. Was shifted out to the left but saw a fair bit of the ball. Make no bones about it though, Azerbaijan were absolute horse shit. One bloke hit literally the worst effort I've ever seen, clearing the entire stand behind the goal with one shot.
RowlattsFox Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 As good a strike as it was, Weale would get torn to shreds on here if he let a shot like that in. Fair play Waggy great goal, but we all know on here that atleast 8 times out 10 a shot like that would go flying into the crowd.
B52 Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 Great goal and happy for him. Goals like this and for a national side can be a turning point.
Thracian Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 I know you don't think we play positively enough now so you must have hated how we played under Pearson. I did. Even when leading Division One so much of our play was functionally negative, particularly in the second half of the season. Pearson's entire focus was on picking up points and the entertainment side of doing that was entirely secondary. He was the same with his interviews. Almost resentful of the fact that he was obliged to communicate with journalists - and therefore spectators - at all. Players like Gradel represented risk. They were mavericks, unpredictable and he didn't seem to like unpredictable. He just didn't see the bigger picture and so much of the football was more an apology than a quest to excite. That's not to say he was a lousy manager. Just a boring one. And, like his team, functionary. Sven seems to want to entertain and has no fear of whatever characters he has in his side. He PR is excellent. Heaven knows he has reason enough not to be media-friendly but in fact he engages with them, answers their questions in a positive manner and genuinely seems prepared to give as straight and informative an answer as he can. Now, and in the future, communication is so important. It's the vital link between club and fans not some chore to that you can do without. I just think Sven loses his nerve at times, perhaps because of the great pressure on him to succeed. But boy, he does try to make things happen and he does have the personality to cope with mavericks! .
funkyrobot Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 Very harsh on Pearson Thracian, gradel aside he did an excellent job for city. We had a great time in league 1 and I enjoyed the football he played that season. He had far less of a budget to spend than Sven and even during the following season against higher quality opposition the team performed well. Players like cleverley and Davies were signed under his regime and they are excellent creative ball players. I'm not saying Sven can't take us up but he has a far bigger budget and he hasn't as of yet used that to significantly improve results compared to Pearson.

I criticised the football. I said we wouldn't score enough goals in the Championship and that's what happened. I mentioned Division One because, while the first half of the season was a romp, the second half was often nervy, negative and full of fear and that with a far bigger budget than most of our rivals.

I'd agree with that reminds me of Stoke manager Alan "if you want entertainment go and watch clowns" Durban

He had far less of a budget to spend than Sven Exactly.. you can't compare how we may do under Sven to how we did under Pearson. NP did what he did on a relatively shoe string budget compared to SGE. Pearson went for solid, younger players that he felt he could develop. There is no way of knowing the type of player he may have signed if he had been given the funds that Sven has been given. The test of Sven, the manager, is to produce success with the expensive squad he has assembled. We'll know by Christmas

Heskey2011 Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 Wow, great strike from Waghorn for the Under 21's. took him 5mins after coming on, hasn't done that for us for a while
gazfox9 Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 Did't mean that. I meant does Pearce see something Sven doesn't? Possibly, after all, Pearce did play Danny Rose (a left back) as a forward over Cleverly and Sinclair during this summers european under 21 championship!!
Izzet is God Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 Still rate Waggy....think the loan move will do him good, however, looks as though he wont get a place in the side Sven wants/is creating. If we go up he'll deffo be shipped out IMO.
LilMissFox Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 still don't understand why Sven wouldnt play him, he's a quality player. But I'm glad he's only out on loan. Could've been worse, the sheep shaggers would've bought him, as they'd been eyeing him up for a while.
broughtonblue Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 You can only beat what is in front of you, as for the keeper being dodgy, ever thought the players/coach might have realised this and said any half chances have a dib! Bloke scores a half decent goal and still some people have a pop, amazing!!!

Most of us would take a winning functional team than a more attractive footballing team that don't achieve anything. Look at arsenal as a higher level example of this. To achieve promotion and then stay in the premier league we will need, on occasion, to be both functional and negative at times to achieve a result.

LilMissFox Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 Oh my. So maybe he hasn't done amazingly well somewhat last season and this season, but he's rarely been given the chance to prove himself either, did well in the England U21 squad n I bet he'll continue the good work with hull...
the_foxes_till_i_die Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 Another sweet finish in training in that video!
sdb Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 We'd be trying to sign him if he wasn't our player.
stix Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 Only because we tried to sign EVERY player in world football who wasnt on our books though....
