What's the crack with these smokeless fags ?.

Do they just give you the nicotine hit and just leave out the other rubbish?

When I read that, I thought you were referring to non smokers....

lol Likewise what? You agree? I'm so confused about smoking, I can't for the life of me work out why I did it for so long.

Crossed wires.

Biggest stoner you're likely to meet, so I get my fair share of nicotine as well (I wish I could leave out the backy and smoke pures, but at english prices?). I'm currently nearing the end of a full weekend clean in a desperate bid to stay focused on uni, but if I wasn't broke from already spending too much on the stuff I just know I wouldn't be able to stay off it because I get too much out of it (the destroyed concentration levels aside).

Thank you for Not Smoking. Cigarette smoke is the residue of your pleasure. It contaminates the air, pollutes my hair and clothes, not to mention my lungs. This takes place without my consent. I have a pleasure, also. I like a beer now and then. The residue of my pleasure is urine. Would you be annoyed if I stood on a chair and pissed on your head and your clothes without your consent? ~Sign from Ken's Magic Shop

Technically i suppose I should write this in an 'ex-smokers' thread but what the hell..Quit at New Year and not had 1 since so I'm doing well but I've gotten to that stage where I'm generally feeling quite ill and have a sore/swollen throat beyond belief, grinding my gears a bit but all for the best I suppose

Am currently half way through my 3-month course of Champix and to be honest, i just dont feel the need to smoke anymore. The nurse said that there could be a good few side effects from taking them but the only one i am having is vivid/clear dreams-unbelievably clear infact. To the point where i have woken up some days thinking that it actually happened for a few minutes.

Back to the smoking part though, it just doesnt affect me at the moment, all of the habits and smoke associations arent an issue anymore.

Would whole-heartedly recommend trying them.

Uh oh, duty up 37p on a pack of fags from midnight tonight!

Actually it was from 6pm. Speaking of which, was anybody in a shop about that time? Did somebody in front get charged less for a pack than you? Interesting dilemma for the shopkeeper that.

This 37p won't bother me at all, I only smoke when out drinking and I only smoke rollies, Golden Virginia Green, Liqourice Rizla and slim tips. Costs me about £5 a month, although I do keep losing lighters so that is pushing the price up! I bought a pack of baccy the other week, was doling fags out to a mate all night aswell as my own, probs about 15-20 each, and still had half the pack left, so used it again a week later with the same scenario, still didn't finish it. I ended up chucking the little remainder 'cause it had gone dry.

To make it even cheaper I buy a box of tips from the pound shop (about 200 in a box I think) and if I can't get any Liccy Rizla I've got a stash of blues I bought from the pound shop n'all.

Prison rollies then? £5 A MONTH!

When i was smoking i would probably spend around maybe £20 a month on baccy and rizla etc....but a fiver? Thats going some!!

I smoke but to be honest it's just to fulfill the cravings generated by 13 years of daily cannabis use, tried smoking pure (not tobacco) joints but this just destroys me and i can't work the next day etc.

Don't in any way want to give up the weed but would like to not be addicted to cigs,

anyone come across this problem?

Err the residue of you (and lots of others) drinking is responsible for or contributes towards 80% of domestic abuse, 90%+ anti social behaviour orders, 50%+ of all aggrevated assults and the shame of the world when we go on holiday etc etc.

And no you don't piss on my head but we've had people pissing up against our office doors!

I tried smoking cigarettes instead of spliffs during exam periods for a while, so I wouldn't be so monged out, but the taste is just awful so I quit (and went back to spliffs). So I guess I have the opposite problem to you :D

All I can suggest is smoke spliffs in increasingly smaller amounts and work your way into only smoking at the weekends? :dunno:

Day 1 of trying to stop smoking (again) and i'm struggling already.

Are you using any nicotine replacement?

I am on week 3 of giving up. I have tried several times before & the best I have done is 9 months. My mate lobbed me a few spliffs for helping him move house, bought some tobacco to roll it in & that was that!! I'm determined to learn from my mistakes.

I have never tried just stopping without any nicotine replacement......I couldn't imagine what I would be like?

I'm on 25mg patches & was using nasal spray until last Friday........just the patches from now on. Struggling, but still not smoking.

I have used the nasal spray before & it is very very good........a little too good if anything. It gives you the instant hit you need, stings like a bastard, but I never thought about smoking when using it. However, I had simply replaced my smoking addiction for a nasal spray addiction. When the nasal spray was running low, I wasn't thinking about smoking but where I was going to get my nasal spray hit from? I did consider robbing the local chemist a few times!!

Good luck to anyone trying at the moment......& congratulations to those who have quit!!

I've tried cold turkey a few times and failed miserably (best was 2 weeks :D ) so this time I did go and see the stop smoking nurse. I ended up getting 15mg patches (i'm not a heavy smoker - about 10 a day) and this inhaler thing. The hardest part is the 'habit' i.e looking for a cig at times when I would normally have one and this is where the inhaler is coming in handy because it does give you a 'hit' and takes you're mind off it albeit too briefly.

I've just started reading the Allen Carr book too, although he is against the whole NRT thing as, like you said, you are essentially replacing one addiction for another. Still a good read and any help is better than none I guess.

I'm really determined this time as i'm now 37 and have been smoking since I was 14 so it really is about time I gave up!

Cheers for the advice by the way.

Incredible stuff in my opinion.

I almost went for those but have heard very mixed reviews about them, I suppose what works for one may not for another. At the moment I could quite easily try everything going all at once, that's how I feel! It all comes down to willpower in the end. :/

Ultimately yes, if you dont want to quit you will find any excuse to have a snidy cig. I smoked 15 a day for around 15 years. The thing with these, as you probably know is that you are advised to start them whilst still smoking. You set a 'quit date' 2 weeks from the day you start on them. I know a few people that are still off the fags (& me aswell) & i know one lad who couldnt get on with them. That was only because he kept taking one in the morning on an empty stomach-which WILL make you feel rank. Ive had no side effects at all & am living in a house with smokers with no issues at all.

If the patches dont do it, honestly give 'em a whirl.

You're right........it is incredible stuff.

How you can smoke like you always do (20+ for me) then after a few days, just not want to smoke ever again - I couldn't quite understand.

I would recommend them to anyone who can stomach them.....they did have quite a few side-effects as far as I was concerned. 10 mins after taking a pill.....on the verge of throwing up, but not quite. A general 'sickly' feeling all the time. Night time was the worst - not wanting to go to sleep, knowing that you will be woken up shortly by the most stupid dreams several times a night.

Like I said, I would recommend them & I know they have worked for others.....just not for me.

I have tried nearly every NRT going & it really does depend on will power more than anything else.......something I have never really had!!
