Just watched a full show... 90 mins of utterly boring overhyped rubbish... typical Simon Cowell pointless exploitation of mindless viewing even using acts that he has 'discovered'

I'll take your word for it. Watching some snooker on eurosport so I think I escaped intact.

I weighed up the pros and cons and decided whether to watch it based on that.

I avoid that channel at all costs now. It really is for the drips of society.

Cowell must love it, from what I have heard of the program its basically people guessing something thats 50/50 and these morons still lap it up.

I stand by the comment, everytime I turn on ITV it's mindnumbing braindead shit from Daybreak to Jeremy Kyle to all the shit this lot lap up on TV at night.

I actually can't think of one program I watch on it.

And i suppose you define the 'Drips of society' as those who don't get hung up on wild conspiracy theories, don't spend a lot of time speaking to people they've never met before on an internet forum and those who maybe work hard all day and like to enjoy a bit of light entertainment at the end of the day.

In my opinion, mindnumbing braindead shit would be some documentary or wasting an hour of my life reading a shit article on some ex con about his time in prison...

I concur.

They tend to just show whatever appeals to the lowest common denominator now. They don't take any risks in their original programming, they generally wait till another channel takes a punt on a format and then they rehash it in the worst possible way.

I think you're right, to a certain extent. They do sometimes have decent drama, like Cracker, Morse, etc., and Champions League football, of course, but these are mere anomalies.

From what I gather it's on ITV and Cowell is involved, so it's got to be utter crap.

It's one redeeming feature was football league highlights, and even that programme was terrible. Haven't watched the channel since the beeb got the FL highlights package.

TV is pretty much all shit. I don't know why anyone bothers watching TV anymore when you can get every worthwhile programme online and watch it as and when it suits you.

I watched the first half an hour of the first episode Red or Black on Youtube last night. Stopped when I realised it lasted longer than that. It's soft, light hearted entertainment, but there is no way I could watch it for 90 minutes or even an hour, and I doubt I'll watch another episode.

Red or black is for chavs? :S I've watched one episode, well half of one and did have to turn it off but I'm not really a fan of any gameshow. I suppose its something different if that's your thing!

Not seen this programme, don't want to.

Almost everything on ITV primetime is absolutely devoid of content and is just sugar-coated, shiny, sequiny fluff.

X Factor is one of the better ones but it's still guilty of the same thing. If you break an episode down, it's about 10 minutes of content and 40 minutes of padded-out moments of faux-drama, trite 'emotional' montage sequences and inane flashing lights.

TV execs play it safe and synically build these programmes to tried and tested formulae and for as little money / maximum profit as possible. Obviously - that's there job so I'm not knocking them.

Your choice naturally but I don't understand how a documentary where the main aim of the program would be to educate it's audience can be "mindnumbing"?

Each to their own but I think it says a lot about a nation when programs like this can grab the masses, just so glad I didn't take that path in life and I can stick to my mindnumbing prison stories.
